I just about fell for that...untill I read that bonus feature is only for US citizens. Would have been nice if they posted that info on the soe website.
Originally posted by Joanaho EverQuest II as with any other game you play is exactly what you make of it. If you go with an open mind and eye's, then you will more than likely have the most fun you've ever had playing any game. If you go into it thinking I gotta level, I gotta level, then you will find it boring and unfulfilling in the long run. Whatever path you choose, I hope you find what you are looking for.
I think that's one of the best things said on this site!!! Amen!
You are 100% right. You don't usually buy a game, rent a game, or a movie to say "This is going to suck... bla bla bla" You rent/buy the entertainment to do just that, get entertained.
So to say "You'll get what you put into it" is a very noble thing to say.
Yes you can pre-order the game in retail stores. I worked at best buy for a while for the crazy discount and can say there is a pre-order box for eq2 on the shelves RIGHT NOW. $10 pre-order fee but that goes to the cost of the game.
Question tho, someone mentioned something about getting jboots from preordering... whats that about ? And how can I capatilize ?
Also where are you guys getting this char creation cd from ?
I got the character thingy and it was laggy on my radeon 9200. So eq2 is coming out soon and its my birthday so i got a ATI radeon X800. Let me just say WOWEE WOW WOW!The graphics are Pixar quality. The water looks REAL. Not almost real. Not really really good. REAL. I have never been this anticpant of any games release ever. BRING IT ON BABY!
I'll probably pre-order it if I really think its a worthwhile purchase...
I'm still debating whether WoW is better or not... experimenting if you will with the pros and cons of each...
This is my biggest decision since buying my last guitar and that took me 7 months to decide on... sucks because I have a mere 1 month to really think on it...
I agree that the grind mentality to me is completely foreign. Mind you I'm more of a casual player but I I think the fun is just playing and exploring not tediously striving to level at every moment.
I preordered and was sent the starter kit. Wish I had not been sent it, as now I am told I cannot cancel the game order even though it is not yet avail. From what I have seen, you should have another option on the vote...PREORDERED AND UNFORTUNATELY STUCK WITH BUYINg THE GAME NOW....heh
But then I guess the company has to do something to force you to buy what so far looks like yet another junky product...LOL
I am going to wait till after release on this one.
I dont doubt it will be a solid game but I dont really see them giving me any incentive to preorder. Also im giving them time to change their mind about the no PVP thing.
Also it looks like WOW is going to come out first so I will buy and play that for a while.

i did.. but i dont think the game is as good as daoc.. after catacombs comes out.. once again.. just like SWG.. EQ2 is a game with no purpose exept to lvl and kill monsters..
for daoc you actually lvl to be able to play RvR and make friends and group.. taking relics and ramming down keep doors while archers are shooting at you.. EQ2 still doesnt understand that people like purposes of gave that actually effect the outcome other then.. wow im lvl 99 look at me.. lol.. sorry but DAoC is alot better in my opinion

Pre-ordered the CD and will get the starter kit in a day or so for free. Although I love their definition of "free" as you still have to pay shipping on it. At least I will have my jboots to start off with. After playing an infiltrator on DAOC since it launched, Im in the mood to move faster now (stealth speed...love to hate it)
DAOC had a great high end game with its PVP implementation, yet you can only take so many keeps before your arms get tired.
Sorry off topic but i take exception Everquest was not a "junky product" lol...I dont play it anymore but just let me tell you this....I am the video game king, I have played every home console system ever made, owned every relevant one since Coleco Telstar...I, like many gamers (most i would hope) enjoy the deep gameplay and rich storylines of RPG's (role playing games if your just joining us) and Everquest *sound of horns trumpeting* slipped my grasp for so long cuz so many people bashed it *grrrrrrrr* i missed out on it for over 2 years cuz of IDIOTS who diss it and probly never even tried it. After watching the 20/20 show about the guy who killed himself on everquest( a grim way to find out about a great game) i figured a) he did not kill himself over the game and b)wow ill have to try that game.I did and got a hooked its the best and biggest MMORPG ever and it's GNP in actual dollars (made on ebay and other places by selling platinum and items) is the 72nd largest on the planet....that means that players on Everquest on average make more than workers in cambodia and peru, among other countries. Get an X800 and check out the character creation CD just to see the pixar quality graphics
I loved EQ for 4 years, and love what I've seen of EQ2. I pre-ordered and have spent hours on the character creation disk. I don't think there is any possibility I'll be disappointed, and I wanted the J-boots you get with the pre-order.
Now if they would just send me the Beta email I would be a very happy camper!!

What will he do next?
Got the creation CD, but its really weird. I can only choose my appearance. Not my class, place points in my stats or choose some spells.
Its not really a character creator, more of an appearance creator. Unless there's something I'm missing.....
yeah I've pre-ordered and a friend got into beta for this game, had to call over to his house and see it
also pre-ordered WoW, but with the regional servers at start i might go EQ2 till i get bored and then try WoW.

The EQ faq mentioned that the stats will be automatically set depending on race and class.
Got mine a while back as soon as the pre-order was available.

Which will it be...EQ2 or WoW?

Why should they add PvP? The original EQ was just fine without it and it was the most popular MMORPG of all time.
