Peer-2-Peer Game Download

LydeckLydeck Member Posts: 80

Um ... someone correct me if I'm wrong with this scenerio.

Tasos just said that they'll have a Peer-2-Peer system in place to download the game on release. Couldn't someone upload a malicious file into it if it's Peer-2-Peer ... ?

I am sure there will be a lot of security in place to prevent something like that. Isn't Blizzards Downloader a peer to peer program as well? never really had a problem with it, appart from slow download speeds, I am sure their downloader wont be all that different.

If they do go bit torrent as thier choice I hope its just a patcher that you will have to download because 18.6gigs over torrent can take a while...

  • Blizzard uses a modified version of bit torrent to distribute it's patches and games. Bit torrent is safe, there isn't a way to inject malicious packets. I think for any mmo bit torrent is the best way to distribute it.

Its not random files, the system only distributes the game files nothing else.

If you look around google, you will find that the client has been streamlined in a recent patch.

    Just under 9 gig now.
