Ouch I don't like the new theme at all, WTB selectable themes with the old one as an option.
Subscribtions: EVE, SWTOR WOW, WAR, DDO, VG, AOC, COV, FFXI, GW, RFO, Aion +plenty of F2P, betas, trials
Female Dwarf player: WOW, VG, WAR, DDO . Due to the recent economic crisis and spending cuts the light at the end of the tunnel was turned off. Sincerely, God.
I think giving members layout OPTIONS (for display colors and layout) would be wonderful. A lot of forums do this. One that comes to mind is WTF.com I don't remember them allowing a layout choice, but they do allow you to choose the forum colors, and when they first did this (a couple of years ago) it was to help with the eye strain that their colors at the time caused for some people.
I stated in another thread, and will say it again now, this NEWER color combination is much much easier on my 45 year old eyes. The stark contrast of white on black, or brights on black, or even light colors on very dark backgrounds.....REALLY gives me a headache after a while.
To be perfectly honest, I dont like the new layout at all. Its not so much the generic colors...that dont really bother me since thety do for the most part match up (cept for the gold links...coulda went with something other than gold/orange )
Alot of what I don't like is the placment of things.
Ads- Ok I know you gotta pay the bills but its really annoying to see the same game advertised more than once on a page. A prime example is I checked the game list right before posting and there are 5 ad spaces and the first time I looked 3 of the 5 were for LoTR. Second time I looked 4 of the 5 were for Atlantis and the third time I looked 4 of the 5 were for LoTR.
Features and News tabs- Honestly they overlap too much to really be separated. I have noticed that for the most part alot of whats on the News section is also in the Features. Perhaps use features to promote game promoes or "featured games" Might even be able to get some ad money by allowing games to put up a "Feature Game" promotion..using NON ANIMATED BANNERS! A page loaded with animated banners is distracting.
Front Page- Well it seems...ummm..cluttered. the left side seems balanced for the most part but the right side..in particular the headers for Top Games and Latest User Images looks misaligned. I have looked at it on different browsers and resultions and it just looks cluttered and misaligned to me. Also the giveway ads under the blog section....really dont fit there. Drop the Latest Features section since alot of whats there also shows up in the Latest News, move Top Games up to that spot,. Move Latest Videos down with Latest Images and give the Giveaways a Section of their own called...GIVEAWAYS & PROMOS. The way its placed now..looks out of place and appears to be in the blogs sections
there are a few more things I dont like but thats just personal preference. I really like the MMORPG website and have for a while, just not a fan of this current layout
On the games list for our profiles, am I missing the option to remove a game from the list, or is there not one? Also, how about a way to bulk save changes, say if I go down and mark a bunch of games at once, so I don't have to do each individually?
Old one was better. Gray is not a good choise for a fun/game/entertainment site. And, somehow I find new design "hard to navigate". Not sure why exactly, maybe there is a learning curve . But again, old one was better.
I would vote that the Names of posters be returned to thier original place above (or below?) the Avatars.
I would vote that when clicking on a thread that you not be taken to the last page of the thread but the first.
I would vote that when a mod edits a post he/she leave a very short comment as to why.
I would vote that if a post is deleted that it not just disapear off the face of the earth but have a "Post deleted" place holder there (with perhaps a brief reason why it was removed).
-More themes, I think having a few themes atleast would make more people feel like the website is their's and not something they have no control over (which they may or may mot . -Reorganization of the front page, with the ads and recent changes it now looks like a mess, perhaps putting the ads in a frame much like the top minibar (Name|Your Messages|Edit your Profile|Logout thing), I think the borders for everything should be clear, to avoid looking like a website from 1996.
As I'm sure most of you noticed we've changed somethings around on the site. Most evident are the visual changes. The theme is now easier on the eyes and more functional. Going forward things will be much easier to change around and new themes / colors can be implemented quickly. Anway please feel free to let us know how you feel about these changes and report any issues you come across!
NO LIKE!
maybe it is just the color scheme but it looks cheaped down, or still in "safe mode"
I almost responded to a post thinking it was the op because I was taken to the last page of the thread. I know I can eventually train myself to hit the "last page" button but is that what you want us to do?

I thought it always went to the last page, last post. But I have always found it a bit annoying landing at the end of a thread I haven't read yet and having to scroll back up or navigate my way back to the first page. While you are redoing the site, how about adding some options?
Also, we used to be able to click on our names and go straight to our profile overview. Now we have to go through Edit and click Overview? I am talking about when we can't see one of our own posts.
Oh crap. How embarrasing (insert Yoda wisdom here)!
Anyway, put the posters name back to the old position above the avatar please. Make's it easier to see who posted what and almost every other forum got it that way.
Put it next to the "Report/Block" buttons above the post i.e. "Report/Block/Fanboi/Troll" Everyone gets one potential vote per post.
The score is +1 for Fanboi and -1 for Troll and is linked to the game related to that particular forum.
Results available via the Public Profile for posters. Example:
Gyrus
Darkfall +163/-32 for 25 posts
PotBS +1157/-26 for 237 posts
WAR +2/-1 for 8 posts
AoC +23/-745 for 94 posts Some forums operate a "Karma" system - this is the same idea but it actually has a purpose here.
And - an ARCHIVE section in the forums
Where has the Gods and Heroes forum gone as an example?
With several MMOs shutting down their forums are no longer current - but it would be interesting to archive them for posterity.
Sometimes important discussions were had there which may be worth referencing?
Lol, but with the extremes some people go to ("I don't think Darkfall should launch on the 25th because Aventurine isn't very informative and" -Instert particularly rabid fanbot- "STFU TROLLIO GO BACK TO WoW!") it'd seriously be inaccurate. Nice idea though.
-------------------------------------- A human and an Elf get captured by Skaven. The rat-men are getting ready to shoot the first hostage with Dwarf-made guns when he yells, "Earthquake!" The naturally nervous Skaven run and hide from the imaginary threat. He escapes. The Skaven regroup and bring out the Elf. Being very smart, the Elf has figured out what to do. When the Skaven get ready to shoot, the Elf, in order to scare them, yells, "Fire!"

Who says it has to be Accurate?
Like I say, some forums operate this system and call it "karma". It's a bit of fun.
Actually though, it might ease that a bit as people would have a way to 'vent' (Fanboi/Troll vote) without resorting to personal attacks.
Might also incourage more moderate posts too. After all, it is to no-ones advantage to be too heavily recognised as being either a Fanboi or a Troll?
Your posts lose credibility - and most forum ranters desire to be taken seriously?
I don't like it. For some reason its harder for me to look at/read and it looks more cluttered. Also, it takes more steps to find the forums I want to view. It was fine the way it was before.
Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?
Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.
Cleaner layer, but needs a lot more polishing. Im not too keen on heading layout and menu system.
That aside, it would be great if you could add a thumbs up or thumbs down like feature marking how many people agree or disagree with a post, in the post header. Sometimes people dont want to respond but also want to show support or disagreement with a statement for example. IT will definately boost forum browsing as well as accounts made to give that kind of input.

I like the new design, more stylish and easy for the eye.
An idea would be if maybe you could have it so that the members can choose different colour themes, if one doesn't like the grey.
I liked the old look, but the current layout and design isn't too bad.
But the color scheme is rather ugly, give us some color scheme options, please, I can live with the rest

Change it back to the old look it was just so much better.
All this grey looks very bad but hey someone must love grey since they changed this site into it.

I like the old poll results with the bars.

Layout comment: Yuck
Suggestion: revert back
I like the new layout but grey just doesnt work for me. Bring back the black.
