It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
If you haven't tested already, go and test it ! I mean this game is something never done before and thats mainly one reason it should succeed or fail all together. But when you see the good things in it, the new things in it.. It is the best around.
+The game world is unique...
+Combat system is unique...
+Artistic style is unique...
But in otherhand the game has the basic mmo-structure. Questing, grinding, pvp... etc.
The graphics are really great, i always like the athmosphere you can create with unreal engine.
The trial aint the best one around tho, i dont understand why they made it like that... why not 14day trial with no limits or such? It's f2p to lvl 7 and then you cant level up anymore. That might be one thing why people arent staying. Only few like meself will stay.
All in all the game is great, atleast for everyone that is looking something else than the basic nowdays mmorpg.
the best way to kill a troll is to FLAME ON! ...or with acid...

I have tried the game and i loved it. Best MMO i've played for years.
I am the leader of a large guild at fame lvl 19 but ... as im from the UK i can no longer play thanks to the stupid ip ban.
Unless the ban is lifted i will never play the game again - i will NEVER give acclaim money.
Great game, sadly destined to fail due to mis-management.
If i sound bitter.....yeah it's because i am.
Why?
This game is suffering greatly due to one stupid bussiness desicion after the other.
It suffers, because they have destroyed the TCOS community before the game was even released.
The announcement of different publishers, tearing up the NA and European playerbase itself even and implementation of IP bans has done exactly that.
Not to mention that there is basically no Marketing and box distribution in the current released region.
And you got the situation what you have now: DEAD servers.
Shame? Yes ofcourse! As this game has great potential.
But frankly, there are so many games out there wich had great potential that has gone to waste. That I basically have grown tired of the word Potential itself.
What if you pay? Can you pay and play after level 7?
IP ban killed the game
agreed <
this is the short story of TCOS dead born mmo . (what a shame) . Payed 12euros for 2 days (i mean 3H ) of play... This game seems interesting but, already dead imo. Was alone in the 2nd area... Alone.
i'm tired of the word potential too. Payed too many subs for games with "great potential"( Vanguard and TCOS are the last ones). This word means nothing. TCOS has no potential because mmos needs a lot of players to live and to survive.
Seemingly being in the UK im actually in the US, so no thanks. Stupid decision... and now the game will die.
Totally agree here ... the arrogance of the Dev's with this game is beyond belief .
TCOS is an excellent game, and if you like FPS games and MMORPG's, you realy should try it!
Too bad the develpoer made the worse deal on regions ever (eventhough you should be able to skip the IP thing with tools like proxy24)
I finally managed to try it and in my opinion this is a jewel of the mmo genre. From graphics to a nice RTS style this game is worth looking at.
Unfortunately greece is under Acclaim management and i failed to create a working trial account from them, so i spoofed my ip and i played a couple of hours on the international pvp server.
I really don't understand why we can't just try the game from everywhere in the world despite of any kind of agreements between different distributions of the game.
I liked the game in beta, and still do, but there are certain things that needs to be fixed before I would consider coming back...
The game is just lacking too much stuff right now as a MMO. If I just want to quest in a game, I rather play DDO since the content/quests are of a much better quality. As said; spellborn needs to offer more gameplay other than just questing to get me back...the only thing that appeals to me now is the PvP, but thats not enough.
That's pretty much how I am feeling as well. My list is different, but I agree that it might be a great game sometime after it has had some time to grow. Mounts, Auction House, and a Bank are high on my list. I am also not so sure that ANY game will have satisfying group content after playing DDO.
I really like the fast mobile combat system so I am keeping TCoS on my short list of MMOG's that I really want to play. It sounds like the devs are on the right track, so I can only hope that the game keeps getting big updates. Unless Champions Online turns out to be a great game, then I am guessing that I'll be playing TCoS in about 6-12 months.
Off topic, but BesCirga, how is the PvP system in DDO? I just started the game recently and haven't even tried it yet.
DDO PvP has its obvious problems, mainly due to class inbalance, heaps of cheap CC spells, and lack of support from the devs. That being said, it can be alot of fun and I recommend trying it out.
You will notice that after coming from PvP in DDO, PvP in spellborn will feel very natural for you since the controls and twitch are almost indentical.

Im from Canada and... You know I have just spent 9 hours downloading the client and realize I cant play this game.

Can i play this from ireland ?
you guys are crazy, there is nothing a IP ban can do to stop you from playing, where you want to play.Personally i thought the game was weak but whatever,if you people want to play just use a proxy.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
The proxy won't help you when you want to subscribe to the game.
They ban your account the moment you use a creditcard outside the legit territory.
Good luck trying to get hold on a dutch, belgium, french, german or scandinavian creditcard when you live in the states.
But this all doesn't matter as the patch 1.02 didn't help them much. The servers are even more dead then ever.
Most people have lost faith and after 3 months of no improvement given up on the game. Me included.
Can i play from the UK?
I did not know this had been released yet, is it in the shops?
This being released (albeit partially) completely slipped me by, so when I found out about the F2P I was pleased.
And then annoyed. Ggeographically I'm in the EU, but according to Acclaim, I'm American.
How very dare you!
'Sod this for a game of soldiers' thought I, 'I will have crack at the F2P, no matter what box they mistakenly have placed me in. Twats'.
The IP ban is only in effect on the website. Visit a free web-based German based proxy and sign up through that. Admittedly the ban is in effect for credit card sign-ups, but at least you can get round Acclaims ridiculous behaviour and get a look at the game up to level 7.
Which is what i'm off to do right now.
Toodles
Just forget about them. They will perish as every one else that does not respect their player base. Even if financial interests want to divide the world in Americans, Asians, Europeans and everything else they can imagine, we players do not need Financial borders of any kind.
As i was welcomed in Chesapeake of UO from my U.S friends in 1997 they should welcome everyone willing to play their game in 2009.
They failed
Word. Not going to subscribe to the game again in the current IP blocked state - maybe if they join servers with Acclaim and population is ok, but somehow I doubt it.
Special Spellborn Chat with David Perry from Acclaim and El Drijver, Lead Game Designer of The Chronicles of Spellborn.
Acclaim will start with closed beta next week
The ip ban will be gone when the CB launches
Acclaim and Frogster/Mindscape will have separate clients and servers, however you can use either client.
"When we launch the open beta, which will be shortly, there will be no more ip blocking between any of the servers, whether its the acclaim servers, that handle most of the world except france and germany and the benelux, and there will be no more ip blocking on the side of spellborn as well."
eu-players.tcos.com/forum/showthread.php
What was actually said is that the IP block will be gone when OB launches, which makes more sense too.

Yeah the only problem is the IP block they have in my country.
Its pretty much over anyhow. For weeks now, interested players download/buy, log in, play a few hours, realize nobody else does, and leave forever. They churn through players like mad, and todays MMO-Player doesnt really look back anymore.
