Lead developer steps down

As most of you know, Ishtar has been running Astonia mainly as a one-man show for many years. While many people have helped with running the game, he has always been the game's lead developer and creator and the person to have the final word on all major decisions.

Astonia has been very successful, also commercially, being the main source of income for our company for many years. However, it has never grown to a point where we would have been able to get Ishtar more support, meaning a full development team to increase the output of new game content and take some burden off his shoulders.

As a company, we have to be realistic about where we want to go in the future. While we have always focused on the growth of Astonia, we had to realize that there are limits to what the game will achieve in terms or revenues. As some of you know, we have been working on mobile gaming projects for the last 1-2 years, and quite successfully so. There are many opportunities for us as a company in mobile games, and we therefore have no other choice but to dedicate most of our development resources to these projects. This means, that Ishtar will resign from his position as lead developer for Astonia and focus mainly on the new projects.

We are talking to a few people who are interested in working on new areas for Astonia, but we do not plan any major update for Astonia in the near future.

All else will continue to run as always of course, we will manage all services for Astonia, pursue scammers, bugfixes, mail support etc. There are absolutely no plans to shut Astonia down and we will operate the game as long as there are enough players enjoying the game.
