How do you store your glassware?

I've had many roomates in my travels... and when dishes are done it seems the majority of people feel that storing the glasses upside down (on thier lip) is the best way to keep them in the cupboard.

The reason?   Keeps dust out of it.

My take is that dust settles on the shelf and putting your glass upside down on a dusty shelf is like coating your marqaurita glass (replacing the salt with dust and particulates of course).   I would much rather have a glass with a little dust in it than put my lips on a rim that was just resting in years worth of dust.

Also.. I've noticed that if the glass isn't dried completely and stored upside down condensation can form at the bottom (which being upside down is now the top).

These are the heavy, deep thoughts that consume my mind... I appreciate your time and your vote/

I store glasses upside down so the water won't collect at the bottom of the glass and sit there for days.  I too have thought about the dust on the rim, but I always swish a cup out before I use it anyway.

Upright. Storing your cups and glasses upside down encourages mold growth, especially if they're not thoroughly dry. Also, the most likely bit of your glass to chip is the rim. And although I don't let my kitchen cupboards get dirty, I wouldn't put my mouth on them so I don't put my glass rims on them, either.

You have hit my OCD spot!

Upside down.  I too generally always rinse a glass before I use it anyways.  If you're worried about mold you could always get some sort of airrated mat under it so the air can get in.

    !

I don't worry about mold because I clean my kitchen.

I store my regular everyday stuff bottoms up and my fancy crystal stuff face up.

Barmen, I notice, store theirs face up.

Just lay them down sideways and don't worry about it anymore.
