With Darkfall's NDA being lifted, I've noticed a lot of fanbots celebrating in victory, especially around here. However, I'm warning you guys to take it easy! You don't want to die from laughing at vapor trolls or over-masturbation, do you? Besides the fact that dying isn't good for your health, if you die, you'll miss the DF launch! That's just not cool. You guys certainly have a "victory" but save it for the game.
This is has been a Public Service Announcement from Bruticus, thank you!

releasing the game definitely proves those who said it was vaporware wrong, Im curious to see how the game plays now and what the reviews say.
So far from what Im reading its 50/50 love hate.
This is bad though. I am in beta and honestly I can tell everyone with 100% certainty now that the NDA is lifted.... Stay away from DarkFall until its patched and fixed. The game is NOT ready for release, nor will it be any time soon. There are some severe design flaws that have to be addressed, much of the game is still missing certain content and quite a bit has yet to be tested by the beta testers.
If you pre-order and buy the game now, Just know that you will be paying for beta. Be prepared to roll with a group, since exploits are way too common given the way the game is designed. Darkfall promotes griefing. Its a great concept and the team did a good job, but there are holes in the design that really need to be re-evaluated.
I don't see a box in MY hand or on store shelves, so vaporware it could be...
EDIT: BTW, isn't the 25th "release" EU only? That's what the press release says...NA comes sometime after.

Oh well, I for one will be pre-ordering it. Just because 'you' think there are things they need to work on to make it a complete game there are others who think that it is ready for launch. Everyone has their opinions and not everyone will share the same idea as you. I have seen plenty of reviews out there, some love it or some hate it. Darkfall is not for everyone. I'll see for myself on how bad you say it is. Because I really dont trust peoples opinions truthfully. There is only one thing to know, people lie. And which is why I dont base a game off someone elses opinion (especially when the game hasnt even released yet). Now if the game has released, then well thats an entirely different story.
Oh no, I've been giggling inside since 2006, laughing at all these idiots who were trolling Darkfall. As soon as I got into beta and had undeniable truth that the fans were, indeed correct, I almost couldn't hold it in. So now, I will die laughing and be happy.

Uhh...pretty sure they said that NA could participate in the EU launch. They wont have NA servers up until sometime after the EU launch.
I'll be laughing my arse off when March 25th comes around and everyone is done with the game and the fanboys are complaining so......... play the game first. OH WAIT! You sound more like one of those fanboys that would like anything before playing it.. You go now and play this perfect "Wow killer" isn't that what you were going to say next? Anyways.. Let the fun begin and I'll be waiting for your complaints and many others. P.S. I've been testing the game so I actually have a clue on what I'm taling about.

I don't think you know what vaporware means, either that, are you're making a pathetic attempt to cling to arguments that lost their validity almost 2 years ago.

He probably means that everyone in Aventurine could be smitten by God because Tasos has a dangerous cult following, meaning that every dev would be dead and the game would never be released. Or everyone in Aventurine could be taken out by Troll Commandos. Thus making it "vaporware".
Yes, you are truly correct. We will all quit on March 25th and compain about it. Seriously, is that all you have to say? Because from reading your post, it seems you. . .are. . .well, an idiot. Come back when you actually have something intelligent to say. And I never once said anything about WoW. What I said was that I am not going to judge this game off of what someones opinion is. Did you even read my post? No, you didnt because you just wanted to come in here and vent your anger.
ROFL to you good sir.

Aye im laughing myself to death.
From day one when i entered beta i had a smile all the way up to my ears when i realiced that we the fans of Darkfall were right and the trolls were dead wrong.
Darkfall wont be a game for everyone but it will be a success and a game with increadible potential.

The problem with this type of game though is that it is a huge advantage to start early so that your skills are much higher than everyone else....WHile I'm sure the game needs alot of work, it is going to be difficult to tell most PVPers that they should wait while someone else is playing and maxxing out his skills....... I jsut dont see much reason to play this really and the graphics are just too outdated for my liking but if it gives this niche crowd something to play then great.

Its really a question of who is qualified to give an honest opinion or even a review. Does that person understand game design theory, how games are made, have the foresight to see the cause and effect...ect Too many people have these fanboy/hater goggles on that filter what they see.
Regardless what anyone says, missing content is a concrete fact that shows the product is not yet ready. Want another one? Fact: Tasos explained that the release will be limited to a certain amount of players. Who has ever heard of a game where you limit the amount of people who can purchase and buy it? They only do that in beta's. There's the fact that breaks the ice. All the evidence points towards the simple truth that Aventurine knows that their game is not ready, that its missing content and features, that much of it is still untested. They are releasing the game anyways, but the catch is that its a limited release. They are getting people to pay to test the rest of their beta process.
Anyone remember a little ol game called Age of Conan? Anyone remember what happens when you release untested changes and game features? Funcom just threw in patches which continued to break the game in various ways. It took them months after release to finally throw up a test server to test the patches there before putting them in the game itself. The game was missing so many features, and trying to add them into the final product without proper Q and A broke the game.
The reason we study history is so we can learn from it. A wise man will sit back and wait, not jumping into darkfalls early release.
This isnt just based on opinion, its based on facts and qualification. Im not telling you what to do, only rather, what a wise person would do. If you have money to waste, go for it. I for one learned long ago that flushing money down the toilet is pretty stupid, which is why with certain games its best to wait and see rather than regret and promote bad business practices.

I know EXACTLY what vaporware means. I worked for Microsoft for 14 years.
Wow killer ? Could you please provide a link where Aventurine ever said they would make a wow killer ?
In fact they will limit entrance to the game to ensure that the quality of the experience of the players, something Blizzard didn't do at their launch.

Though I been waiting for Darkfall's release for many years, I like to see more player comments about this game before buying it online digitally. The game has niche written all over it, but I hope this game succeeds, because we all can use a new Sandbox type mmorpg once again.
I noticed some top notch guilds will be trying this game as well, I just hope they come back with some kick ass reviews!
Not even close 50/50 love hate tbh. Maybe here were trolls are pretending to be in beta, but the beta forums are overflowing with people who are having a blast in the game, issues nonwithstanding.
Thats not something for them to brag about, and its certainly not about quality of experience. The reasons are two fold. 1, is to help gather income while they continue to fix the game. Essentially a limited open beta in which you pay for. 2, is to showcase the product while hoping for foreign publishers to make an offer/bidwar for the license to release the game in their region. Tasos gave a date of release, and it looks like they feel they have to honor it, even though the game isnt ready.
I dont blame them for wanting to gather some income and not over launch if the numbers dont turn out as they would have liked, but a limited launch is still a bad thing in my book. Remember, one server can only hold up to a supposed 10k players, though I doubt they will ever let it get that high, (they tested it via npc's). Most of the commericially medicore games have easily over 100k players. For selling an actual physical product, limiting the supply can up the demand, I dont believe it works quite that way with games, especially if the initial product shows up as being incomplete.

with most of the stuff out or turned off? wow enjoy bud. its the game for you, in all its vapid emptyness!
I will defer judgement until I see what the game has to offer once it goes live, I dont consider what im seeing or hearing now valid frankly.

Dude, that doesn't scare me. I've beta tested games in alpha stage. Don't worry, I know what I'm getting myself into. Thank you for the warnings, and I really do appreciate it, but If I were to act like a spoiled little girl used to playing platform RPG's then ya I'd probably wait a few months. BUT, I'M A HARDCORE MMO GAMER, HAVE BEEN FOR 10 YEARS! I'm fine with paying to play a 70% completed game at launch because I don't want to be one of those powder puffs who had to wait a few months because they get to frustrated and throw temper tantrums if EVERYTHIGN doesn't go their way. Let them wait 3 months before purchasing the game, by then I will have my skills up, own a ship, have a guild house, and have enough money for a home, "for when housing is implemented"
I recommend newbs who wait until the game is "polished" to purchase the game, will probably hate it even more because by then there will be several powerful reds running around the starting areas, you will ahve to practice all your skills in town and I can guarantee this will cause you to throw tantrums left and right until it kills you, lol.
So I recommend to all the people who are planning to play the game to purchase it sooner rather than later.

Even though I wasnt talking to you, I do have to say...you have one pretty twisted view, one that I dont agree with obviously.
Breaking down what you say: 1) you have played a lot of games, 2) only newbs wait for a game to see if its a flop because the developers released it too early. I guess those who didnt buy AoC right when it came out are also newbs, along with those who chose not to play Vanguard when it was released.3) Anyone who gets upset at a partially incomplete product thats exploited, bugged, and possibly unplayable with future patches, is therefore a little girl who has a tantrum.
Thats your argument, which is more of an opinion and of such, one that does not contain an ounce of logic.

I'm going out on a limb here and presume that you have no idea what Aventurine financial status is. In fact I think you are speculating. Yes, Aventurine do not want to invest in expensive hardware unless they have enough clients to put it to use. They have stated that their goal is to earn 10 million euros within a year. That means an estimated 50-60.k subs (with 14 euro pr month not including the game). If that is ther goal, they clearly were not planning for more than 100k subs. We are not testing the release candidate yet in beta, so we do not know how ready the game will be at launch. Most of ppls complaints are easy fixes. Most features are in the game (exept wolfs 4 legged run and housing). But time will show, I will preorder this game as I have tested it myself. This will be the first sandbox, skillbsaed game released in years and I will not miss out.
