Its starting to seem that way, I dont see how they can say they 'did not expect this volume of players', have they not realised this game has been the biggest thing next to WoW since WAR failed?

No, I doubt they ever sat down and realized these things.
There are 3 types of people in the world. 1.) Those who make things happen 2.) Those who watch things happen 3.) And those who wonder "What the %#*& just happened?!"

it still wont get more subscribers than war, so does that mean darkfall will fail too.

They cannot use the "expected this much volume" line. It is a limited release so they know all along how many peeps they would have at launch.
Fact: they did not do a proper stress test, And why in hell did they add a patch and server inspection on launch day ?
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

Not even close. But your experience might be limited, and, as a young padawan, it's understandable you're not familiar with the DnL, AO, SWG etc. and their terrible launches.
War had a bad lauch aswell, atleast the Euro launch was not good and GOA is supposed to be a pro publishing company. So if anyone though beforehand that the launch of darkfall would go without a problem would have been foolish.

I really hope this was an attempt at sarcasm.
Only these forums may make it seem like this is the biggest thing next to WoW.
I definately isn't. And I doubt anyone really expected it to be.
As for their expectations of the number of customers, I agree. There is no way that they could have only expected 10,000 customers. They knew years ago that their small target audience is at least 5 times as big (wich still makes it small).
Preorder fiasco, cc charging delay, now servers go live and patch server is down and out!
Rubbish
Well once the game server goes down the patch servers will come back up.
That seems to be the way it works for Darkfall...

I think success would be better calculated by using the percentage of players that enjoy the game rather than subscribers. for example, like 80% of the WAR (or was it AOC?) players didnt like the game and quit. Thats why those are considered failures. However, if only 100K players get Darkfall and, say maybe 10K quit, thats a 90% success ratio.

D&L was a straight up scam so you should remove that game from your list. DF is not a scam they are just overwhelmed and understaffed to handle problems that pop up.

I remember DnL and SWG, though I still dont believe this sort of launch is acceptable after the amount of time they have had to develop their severs and measure the amount of people looking to play.

Best launch
War failed?
Warhammer has a few hundred thousand subscribers.
No, I doubt they ever sat down and realized these things.
I guess been on the servers of WAR that were closed down, I considered it a flop without having the will to transfer.
Sure hope darkfall gets sorted otherwise its a long wait till anything else is out.
OMFG is today Opposite day?!

When in doubt, troll.

Subscribers had better get used to it -- for a while anyway.
