I played WoW the longest (release up to a few months ago) but as of right now it's definitely LOTRO.

I gotta say SWG:preCU because it was so dynamic and unique.

In my earlier years, WoW. But Blizzard decided to cartoon and tone down the mature feel of the Warcraft lore and feel from this to this (which is only one of my quarrels with how WoW has developed), so I jumped to AoC, which didn't exactly impress me at first, but are now starting to convince me that it's the game I'm going to spend a good amount of time on forwards.

It is preferable not to travel with a dead man.

    No favourite.

My favourite is whatever game I am currently playing.

At the moment I am looking for a new game, so I do not currently have a favourite.

WoW is a dumb game. It's very addicting though so I never want to play it again. I'd rather watch BoB The Builder....ye...mabey not.

    World of Warcraft.

Up until today, when I resubbed to DAoC due to nostalgia, I'd of said DAoC is my favorite game, but damn did it fall behind the times concerning technology.

The word polish is getting so cliche now, but WoW is the definition of a polished experience. I'm not just talking technically, I'm talking about all aspects of the game. No other game can compare.

Don't get hooked into the BS of this community.....WoW is/was a great game cause it offered/offers so much for the player. Like it or not...it's the all around package. And no other game can offer this cause they don't wanna....

Ugh, I can just remember the day of D2.

No he hasn't, he is quite wrong on that point.  Many other games offer the whole package.  There is no basis for his point and I can't see how he has won anything.

WoW is the most fully developed game out there. I mean look at the player population, its not just people said look new game lets play that, WoW has 11,000,000 active players, no one else has that there's a reason. Admit it

  • John.A.ZoidJohn.A.Zoid Member Posts: 1,531

Wow is great but the problem with that game for me is everyones the same and the pvp sucks. The actual combat is great and much better than anyother mmorpg but I hate Battlegrounds as they ruined world pvp like scenarios do in WAR. I mean why don't Blizzard get rid of battlegrounds and put in keeps for contested territory so it actually has a meaning and that way the old zones become populated again and gives meaning for lower level players.

Just because Britney Spears is popular and sells tens of millions of albums, does that make her music good?

I would argue that Jacqueline Du Pre created better music but was far less popular for example.

This is just a case in point.

    Warhammer Online.

There is no right or wrong -
There is only fun and boring.

LotRO , CoX, Guild Wars (please no flames as to whether GW is an MMO)

Hedonismbot: Your latest performance was as delectable as dipping my bottom over and over into a bath of the silkiest oils and creams.

Difference is that most gamers are adults and can think for themselves and I'm willing to bet most WoW players are over 16 and not kids like everyone says. Mmorpgs require a subscription and people wont continue to play a game unless they're having fun and if a game is fun then it is good. Music however is different because you don't play the same song over and over again for years unless you think it is good. Alot of it is bought as a gift and it's just one quick and easy purchse that people will buy cause they looka t the charts or their kids love it.

Thats why these whole arguments make no sense because for WoW to have all these millions of subs this long after release obviously means the game is good. The whole Mc Donalds argument is dumb because people eat for convenience on lunch breaks and what not and Mc Donalds tastes alright so people buy it. THe whole quality of the food doesn't even make sense anyways in the argument because the quality of WoW is much better than anyother mmorpg on the market, it is much more polished.

Everyone has their own opinion but you can't deny that it is good.

The reason why it was so successful is because its made for  the masses. Before WoW  MMORPG's weren't all that popular unelss your were a DnD nerd.  Now everyone and their mom plays WoW and im sure a lot of them don't even know what DnD is.  Oh and the funny things was WoW was planned to be a F2P mmo, I bet Blizz was thankful they didn't choose that route, Id be kicking my ass for years to come.

But as for my favorite games.   LOTRO and FFXI, even though I played WoW for 2 years, I just played because friends did.   FFXI is an awesome game but it takes forever to get anything done and I have other things to do than grind mobs hours on end just to gain a lvl.  When I recently went back to FFXI I was going to raise a Chocobo and it was going to take a month in earth time before I could ride it.

I don't mind working hard for things but that is just pushing it.

Played most out there. Starting with MUD text based, then Ultima Online, of course few wasted years in WoW too, along the way.

Dungeons & Dragons Online is my favortite. Never played better mmorpg. When  I came back to WoW to try WotLK, at first it felt silly there... then absolutely laughable, pointless and crappy.

It really makes me sad that so many bought and play this game (WoW) just because it's popular and friends already play it... Believe me, there are much better games out there even for you. You just don't know about them, or can't understand that mmorpg doesn't need to be anything like that popular game of a very rich developer. Yes, Blizzard was rich before WoW, and now the circle of advertising is almost unstoppable.
