in Lord of the Rings Online

I'm thinking of giving this game a shot as I'm tired of other MMO's I have been playing. How big is the download for the free trial and are there any restrictions on it like a level cap or world restrictions?

Currently Playing: Toying around with AoC and bored with Darkfall

Thinking of Playing: Fallen Earth or Darkfall after this months update.

Have Played: EQ1, EQ2, WoW, WAR, Vanguard, EvE, Requiem, PW, Lotro, Lineage2, AoC, SWG...

    I did the free trial to try it out in Windows 7 do do dx 10 but Im not sure how long it takes since I have the game on disk from when I used to play. But I played a human captain and I tried to go to the next area and the gards said I wasn't aloud to go through the gate.  Not sure if I was restricted from the Trial or if I needed to do a few more quests.

     

    Not sure if there is a level cap I just played it for a few days and got to lvl 6.

    Wow..been a while...I think the trial took a few hours (2-3)...like the previous poster ...i am not sure on level cap. I liked it. but the graphics looked crappy.I didn't sub b/c my pc at the time was true suckage. I got a new system..i7..4 gig...9800gt...and I ended up buying the whole game plus expansion...really nice graphics...in some cases better than AoC(my other game of choice)...mostly because in LotRO you're toon seems to carry proper weight while traversing the various terrain...whereas.. In AoC...you can sometimes feel like a  figure floating in space against a matte painting that is trying it's best to mimic a visceral 3D environment...if that makes any sense. Still both are very beautiful games.

    There is no level cap on the free trial... I got to level 16 in the trial once.

    I think the only thing that they limit you in the free trial is not being able to send tells to people, not being able to send mail, and theres probably something else i'm forgetting.

    I had the same experience on a paid account when trying to leave that newbie area (Acheron?).  I think you have to complete a certain part of the beginner''s quests which are part of the beginning tutorial.  You can skip this tutorial, but for new players its worth doing for the gear you get as rewards.  You usually complete it around levels 5 to 7.
