10 day tour of WAR

Ok so now there is finally a public free trial I'm going to give WAR a go purely because I have been a fan of the Games Workshop IP since its very early days (space crusade ftw) and instead of wandering around the game like a typical clueless newbie I'm hoping for some advice on the best way to get a feel for the game. As a rule I do not like MMORPGs tried a few and they are all terrible the first and only MMO I play is EVE online and I'm not particularly interested in doing quests or "raiding" because PVE is not my thing at all.

So what would be the best way to get some pvp and what kind of class would i get the most out of quickest, bear in mind I'm not looking for something uber and OP just something that be can be useful quickly, obviously the game has limitations with leveling and gear but I just want a feel for how the game really works and feels.

The first thing to help your chance in PvP is make sure that you roll on a crowded server. HIgh population is a good thing.

Next I would roll yourself a melee dps char. Something like a witch elf/witch hunter or a slayer. Great fun...get in close and start throwing punches

Whatever you do don't roll a witch hunter, I did and they were fun and games until rank 30ish, and then they became utter crap and obsolete.

 

Could be that they have had time to change it and balance it out but I doubt it.

When did you play last? Patch 1.2 made the WH quite a bit more powerful.

Getting to the thread kinda late so Im sure you found out pvp is pretty easy to find

Here are the classes I can say are the best without a doubt, atm....... Patches an nerfs can change things in a moments notice and right now players are calling for nerfs on some of the classes I list.

I list the best in terms of Healer, Range Damage, Melee Dmg, and Tank

 

Tank

Order Best- Iron Breaker close second after 1.2 is Swordmaster... Some might debate this but I still think the IB is king of tanks

Destruction - Black Orc, even after the last nerf on there insta heal they are the best tank. I have never played Chosen before but even though quiet a few people gripe about playing them they put up impressive dmg numbers in scenerios, and have insane crowd control.

 

 

Healer

Order - No contest here Warrior Priest is one of the best classes if not best class in the game atm. Although people are calling for nerfs for the class. Archmage isnt good, but supposedly they are getting some love in the incoming next patch

Destruction - Easy Disciple of Kaine, another powerful class that could change after the patch. The AM mirror the Shaman is also going to recieve love in the next patch

 

RDPS

Order - Bright Wizards and there AOE spells particular Rain of Fire is pretty much destroying everybody in keep sieges. Engineers another very solid pick. Very good.

Destruction - Sorceres same as BW with the AOE, expect to see a nerf next patch. Squig herder a very good character after the nerf I would say this is Destructions best RDPS class

 

MDPS

Order - Slayer awesome expect small nerf, Which Hunters are still great an they recieved some love after the last patch while its destruction counterpart the Witch elf got nerfed bad. White lions I think are great, they did get there fetch skill nerfed last patch but they are a great class.

Destruction - Choppa same as slayer ......As of now I think with the nerf of the Witch elf Destruction is hurting in this department more than order. Although I would say the Maurader would be safe choice.

Oh ya as the above poster said pick a populated server. I play on badlands its decent. But Iron Rock and Dark Crag are the kings in population atm,
