I'm so very tired of getting directed to the last page of a thread...

That I have NEVER read before.

 

Sometimes I remember to click on "page 1" but often I read the first post at the top of the page thinking it is the OP's original post.

I'm not sure why and when this started.

    We used to have the option in our profile section to choose to sort posts by  newest ( last ) or oldest ( first ) post in a thread.

    This was apparently removed when they "upgraded" the site.

    Definitely annoying, particularly when selecting a thread from the recent activity on the front page.  There's no way to go straight to anything but the last page.

    Agreed I hate it. and for that matter stop dropping me to the bottom of the page. Why the hell would i want the last post on the page in my face when i haven't read the first.

    I spent a lot of time using websites such as this one to keep my finger on the pulse, as it were, and I find that going straight to the last post is highly beneficial most of the time.

    I wouldn't be against having the option to go to the first post though, and I know it's possible as others have integrated that facility.

    Umm, has anyone here noticed, that if you go to the forum itself rather than hanging out in the "recent forum posts", you get an option to click on the individual page you want to visit for threads with multiple pages?  You just don't get that option in the "recent forum posts" section.

    Seems as good a place as any for me to ask this. Is there a way to make the "Watch this thread?" box default to unchecked? I hate having to uncheck it each time, or forget to uncheck it and then get e-mails on the post.

    Go to Your Profile - Alerts, and de-select the top box.
