I started with asheron's call 2000 till 2003 loved the game style choose any skills i like and leveled them. i left with 6 accounts, 6 apartments in same hallway many characters level 40 to 60 one 126. my wife even played for about 6 months. also liked the huge land mass. once i ran from coastline NW to south bridge, collecting dye pants killing a little on the whole coast. took me 6 hours to travel that.
every 3 months after i left i paid for one account just to see how the game was and pay rents, till last summer i missed the rent by a week and lost all my items. luckly had best items on characters. just retried the game 2 weeks ago. still fun as before but they really need to merge the servers to help population. or just make a new one and give all current players some kind of EXP tocken to lvl up instantly to where they were. and kive some basic items for that level.
other option is to at least give AC for free to those who subscrib to lords of the rings online or dungeons and dragons online. this could bring old players back and mabe a few new.
I left AC to try everquest. didn't like the limited classes. but the game was huge, and tons of quests. again from 2003 till 2006 i have 6 accounts. made my own guild and made almost one of every class race combo possible 4 to 6 box when no groups to find levels 30 to 52. i find i prefer to try every combo in all games more then just race to end game
from those to major games i played and liked anarchy online still have 3 accounts, like the exp to skill thing like asheron's call. AC 2 for a bit but AC 1 was better
I then left for EQ 2 and WOW , wow was nice because of plugins, but i felt like i was chaeting and it was to easy to level. i liked the EQ 2 style. geting a home and the crafting was great i still go play eq2 for a month or 2 per year
i tried vanguard liked the concepts and classes. but the game came out to fast and everyone left. i might try again later. since SOE is nice enought to alow us to pay a whole $9 more a month i think and we can play all thier games. so eq eq2 vangaurd starwars ect.. cheap and worth the fee for all that.
Starwars galaxies was a nother game i liked for about 3 months and retried for a month a bit ago. i like the game but just population is low
age of conan was fun . i like the nudity :-) and the killing combat active. no auto attack.
final fantasy XI i played and liked for a bit 3 accounts at same time i like the class switching idea, but takes too long to level without a group and the games population is low nowadays
One thing about me is i love to craft. AC you needed to craft a bit but not much fun EQ i hated that lost a ton of plat. EQ2 fun crafting game to it. but only one game truely on top for crafting and good class combo's thats istaria AKA horizons . building your own house was the best thing i ever did in any game. plus multiclassing is a neat concept.
i was hoping that Darkfall would have the whole package. it does have some but the kids playing it .... you group up with clan mates or new friends go out hunt quest kill. then as you head back to cashin your loot your freinds clanmates jump you.
i'm new to the pvp game. i hated it in lineage 2, DAOC i like that it's realm vs realm, was hoping darkfall would be the same.
i like warhammer for pvp groups but the game is in one line, you can choose one of the 3 possible lines, but still one main line to end game, no side line quests. in everquest you can play for a good year without getting past level 65 if you quest vs grind.
I tried every other game out there i go back and forth too often.
I wish for Turbine to come out with asheron's call 3. open skill classes, the pk- light combat. homes , but add istaria's crafting, and DAOC realm vs realm. have quests and epic quests like EQ does.
for now i have 3 more weeks for darkfall till subcription runs out. but all other games i cancled, i now plan to stick to free games. istaria has a free option as human only, runes of magic. like wow but to me better and more fun multiclass and homes. anarachy online. and my lords of the rings i paid for life.
will have to see what games come out in near future.
So i ask anyone else an mmorpg addic like me. just can't stick to any one game any more. and feel we need a new asheron's call or everquest game again?

Wow dude, that's a lot of gaming.
I tend to stick to one game for a long time if possible, and unfortunately I can't find a mmo (or any game for that matter) that holds my interest very long anymore. Alas, I guess that's one of those bummers about getting older and having to focus on career. But I don't think it's all me.
Anyways, yeah, you're an addict.
I tend to stay with the one game for up to 3 months, sometimes up to 6 months until I lose interest and move to another MMO.
I often move to MMO's that have been out for a while, rather than new games. They are usually more polished with fewer bugs and better gameplay.
I only game I played for several years was EQ. Sony wrote my evocation druid out of the game by making all raid mobs (in Gates of Discord and later expansions) almost totally immune to cold and fire druid nukes. I am reluctant to invest that amount of time in any toon now and its more fun to explore new worlds in completely different games.
I skip a lot of new games because the advertising indicates its not my type of game. Sometimes I find out later that these releases were my type of game. The initial advertising often focuses on 1 feature of the game and gives the incorrect impression that other features and content are not part of the game. An example might be advertising that focuses on PvP features when the game also includes huge amounts of PvE content.
I honestly wouldn't call you an addict. Addict would be like someone who plays WoW 25 hours a day/7 days a week (yes 25 hours, not 24 :P). Just a little hyperbole though.
Anyway, what I mean is that, by judging from your list, you are unable to find a game that really suits your taste and thus jump from one game to another. So yeah...wouldn't say you are an addict and HardCore gamer would be more appropriate I believe.
in the last few months i have played, excluding xbox 360 games;
VGSoH - revisit special offer
AoC - revisit
EQ2 - revisit
LOTRO - revisit
EvE all 3 accounts - revisit
WAR - revisit with trial
POTBS - revisit with trial ( played beta )
TCOS - NEW
Darkfall - NEW
WOW - Revisit and current game
I am really fed up with my inability to settle down, by contrast a friend of mine has played nothing but wow for 2 years straight. Maybe I am in my death throws of MMO gaming. I was into EvE 2 weeks ago, all set and working on mission running, salvaging and scanning.........bam login wall, can't be arsed.
Maybe it's a nagging realization that unless I can dedicate hours and hours and hours of free time, that I don't have, to a guild or corp I will be essentially be wasting time even playing game X.
I work hard to give a game a chance, I usually play a game at least 2 months.
Working through DF now, but not sure I will stay with it.
AoC is having a bit of a resurgence, I may head back there...so long as I never have to see another villa again
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
guess I'm a different type of MMO addict, I cant really play anything else when I'm hooked on an MMO.... I have some really great single player games sitting on my shelf collecting dust that I havent even installed yet... and I can never really stick to two MMO's at the same time.
Grymm
MMO addict in recovery!
EQ,SWG preCU,L2,EQ2,GW,CoH/CoV,V:SOH,
Aion,AoC,TR,WAR,EVE,BP,RIFT,WoW and others... no more!
My friends call it "MMO-ADD".
They say I have severe case.
MMOs used to be addicting because they were fun and immersive.
Now, addiction is slow progress, raid tiers, gear tiers, crafting tiers, and other tiers to keep you playing.
I keep playing when I am having fun, not because I need to get from tier 2 gear to tier 3 gear so when I get tier 3 gear I can finally try to get tier 4 gear, and when I do that, I will finally go for tier 5 gear and then do a 20 hour epic quest, which takes me only 15 hours with my bots.
It has gotten absurd how creatively lost and blind content, customization, and immersion features are in MMORPGs.
I'm somewhat similar to your story, except I didn't start jumping from MMO to MMO until 2006 (my first was SWG, I was there since the beginning).
As you can see from my sig, I went through quite a few (and the played section is only a partial list because I've tried a few that is in Chinese and it would be pointless for me to put them in the list since no one knows them really...)
Now I'm just waiting for the games in my waiting list (and it seems to be growing...) at the same time playing a few MMO here and there at the same time...
Current MMO: FFXIV:ARR
Past MMO: Way too many (P2P and F2P)
Well lets see I played FFXI for 2 years, Guild Wars for 3.5 years and since the middle of last year I have hopped from AOC to WAR and back to AOC and inbetween that time I tried Lotro for 3 months. The longest I ever play anykind of games is Diablo and Stracraft for 5 years with no major complaints or issues. It is really sad mmos can't keep gamers interested for that long anymore. That is ok though, I put all mmos on warning... They have until the Diablo 3 release date to prove they can make good mmos again. If not they can find me playing Stracraft 2 and Diablo 3 for the next several years with no complaints.
I think I have played every MMO that came out since UO... DAOC was my longest stay and I revisted that to get two 50s on the classic servers (in different realms).
I made the decision, this week, to stop buying games and play the ones I have! So thats a Station pass as the cheapest option (and I have all of those!).
EQII a bit, then Vanguard, bit of sailing in POTBS, off into space with SWG, Kung Fu in Matrix and if I can be bothered a re-install of planetside (the latter probably not though!)

I'm a very similar case to you. SWG was my first ever MMORPG. I played from launch and ever since I have left that game at the advent of the NGE I have hopped from MMO to MMO. I'm currently back in EVE for the third time and although I enjoy it, it still has something missing for me. Also, I get fed-up being in a ship all the time. I picked up Requiem as a second game a few days ago and it seems pretty good for a F2P, best I have tried anyway and I've tried a lot of them (don't have them in my sig as they never stayed on my HD for more than a few days).
My RL friends are trying to drag me back to WoW again, but I am resisting atm as I have never really liked that game. However, it is nice to play with people you know so I might end up back in Azeroth for a while. I'm also considering giving The Chronicles of Spellborn a try, it seems a bit different, which is a good thing.
I'm hoping that SW:TOR, Earthrise, or The Secret World are good because I would really like another MMO that I can actually put some roots down in again, but until then I suppose its constant MMO hopping for me...
MMORPG History:
Playing - EVE Online.
Played (Retired) - AO, SWG, MxO, WoW, RFO, SoR, CoX, EQ2, GW, L2, Vanguard, LotRO, AoC, TCoS, Aion.
Favourite MMO - Pre-CU SWG, 3 Years, 4 Accounts, 2 Pre-CU Jedi (1 Pre-9).
Awaiting - Star Wars: The Old Republic, The Secret World, Earthrise.
Yeah, I have had trouble staying at an MMO. I played FFXI for a couple years then Guild Wars for a couple years and WoW for about a year. Right now I've been enjoying The Chronicles of Spellborn, but I don't know how long that will hold my attention.
I think the next game to hold my attention for a couple years is Aion. I'm hoping so anyway.
I don't think it's the inability to stay at one game, I think that as each new game comes out it is less original then games before it. So quickly you have a been there done that feeling and get bored.
I started playing MMOs with The Realm and went to UO EQ AC DaOC. All of those (except EQ) I stayed with for a long time and had a blast with.
Then from there forward it was all 1-3 months stints with games before being bored and I did play almost every at least semi-major game to come out and all the major ones.(AO SWG WoW WAR Vanguard Lineage 2 etc etc).
I think the realization set in with WoW, when I quickly learned that you could max level easily in a month and most games since then have followed that formula. That is not interesting to me at all, it's the journey to max level/max skills that I love. And that is why I get bored so quickly with games now, I really think the majority of WoW players who continue to play were people who never played an MMO before that time so they didn't realize how much fun WoW lacked compared to what had come before.
Also I find I enjoy a game much more if I play it from launch, but again that's because it's the journey to max level that's fun for me. So once a game has a ton of max level players who passed items on to all the low level characters to make them unbalanced and every quest item etc is online with what it does how to get it etc, the game has lost fun.
I'm dieing ....
this month. i started out playing LOTRO like it but solo pop really low. i always like turbine games so retried DDO , had a ton of fun for a week. but noticed it's just redo quests 80% of time and solo a lot to pop low again. so for turbine again i went to my all time fav asheron's call. found 2 old accounts with all the gear i could need and mmd's plat ect. played 4 days lvled and again noticed pop really really low. marketplace had 6 bots.
idon't want to play solo anymore. at this point last week tuesday i think i finnaly got darkfall. was new and fun for a day or two. i macroed the skills while at computer, just watching tv at same time. after 4 days i noticed this would be a solo game again. because of all the ganking. and even same race and clan ganking, i can't see the game being any good after a month skills are getting high but still turn your back for a sec and your dead. but even then whats the point not much to do but jump folks.
where's the game content. even quit warhammer in march cus of the take one of 3 lines to end game. at least everquest you had about 30 options to lvl from 1 to 10 then anoter 30 from 10-20 . 100's of ways to lvl and 1000's of quests to do.
these past 2 days alone i played horizons(istaria) only on test server due to vista issue which is almost fixed , was fun for crafting but population lol was 4, 3 diff times during the 2 days i played and pop max was 4 whole server. live servers might have 100 if lucky. i love the game but not to solo 99%. i also played LOTRO for 2 hrs did about 10 quests lvled was fun and nice but again had 8 emails ingame about players leaving the game. pop down even more then begining of the month.
i even popped into runes of magic for 10 min, eve online i always check into for skill training ect. and from time to time i got mine for a bit. waiting to play it for pvp , just need a month for skills to be good.
i've spent part of last night and 5 hrs today reading forums and websites about games i like but not sure about retrying.
rethinking about everquest 2, WOW, thought about EQ 1 but i know pop is to low now till new mergers. thought about FFXI but i don't want to play that solo again pop way to low for that they need mergers. vangaurd some are saying its good again. but i have feeling pop is low.
i thin the main thing i need to do to stop the addiction issue ( other then disconect the internet, or cut up credit cards) is to choose a game that has population. doesn't suck cus of pvp ganking, but has fun pvping. has crafting, has many option to level, good guilds. I'm stuck between WOW which will be huge for a long time, but no homes and limited crafting. and EQ2 , eq2 i can put on station access, and gain the ability if bord to play all SOE games eq, eq2 ,vanguard, starwars, the pirate ship one i have that played a day and quit could be fun for a bit though. and eq 2 has homes and mounts you get off the bat if you have the money, if i go WOW then thats one but a good one. if i go EQ2 i have the other games for cheap.
has anyone payed both EQ2 and WOW for long lvled to 60's in both games. which one is the better choice?
For WOW i have 2 accounts i box. characters only 10 to 18th lvl. crafting started but not high at all
for EQ2 i have 2 accounts i box all sorts of lvls from 15 to 50, and crafting all 40-80's so EQ2 all the items i could ever need.
i really don't know what to do. EQ2 pro's vs cons is better but population in eq2 is way low to WOW.
for today i'm going to play magic the gathing online. might sell my cards today been a yr since i played that game have to many to just waste them there. and contuinue to watch Nakita tv show i have all 5 seasons on 2 one now. tomorrow kid home from daycare, so day with him should be fun. i think i'll have him help me build a book shelf for his dinky cars.
but saturday i'll need a game. i can't go to long without an mmorpg. i'm already suffering from coke-a-cola withdraw. 2 weeks. i'm on a crash diet, eat once a day and other two normal time for a meal i have a slim fast drink. wii- fit and i have a 2 times a day date for hour eash time lost 11 lbs in 3 weeks so far. i might be able to live without my pop and junk food. but not without my MMORPG's but would like to reduce to MMORPG not more ('s)
please advice should i crack and join the great pop WOW and the game play of EQ2 or is there something else out there you think i could stick with?
(yes i know i'm sad) i blame my grandfather for giving me his comadore vic 20. with game like GORF way back in the 1980's also comadore 64 for Bards tail ,oh and then i blame nintendo for games like pool of raidiance. and i blame the inventor of the internet, how dear he (or she, i think he though) put the world together for enjoyment and education. dam him....
not a big believer in fate. but my complaining about addiction to mmorpgs. i think may have gotten better yesterday my computer crashed. bad. had to get a new harddrive and reinstalling . almost 24 hrs later. with 10 hrs sleep, i am 90% set up again but with only eve- online installed. have to reboot now and then install COD4 and CODWWII .
all other mmorpgs i lost can reinstall but i'm not going to . i plan to pick eigther WOW ir EQ2. eq2 would be with the other SOE games, but WOW would be cheaper and force me to stick to just one game, well other then eve online.
i think my sofeware was hit with trojan or bad virus. cus all i did was try to run avg, it didn't start so i downloaded a diff program and installed fine but couldn't run. so i logged off to safe mode. still no avg or other program would work. i rebooted and got that darn bluescreen of death for 1 sec. rebooted over and over. to safe mode , last known config. ect. bluescreen over and over.
put in new drive and formated old one. hoping it was softwar and use it for backup. but incase HD dieing i got my externals going too . bad day. at least wife helped me out.......
