After spending some time reading on the forums I am very intrigued by this game. Because of this I decided to download the free trial and give it a shot. I also heard that it gets better after the trial so I am going to sub for the first month also. To sub, the easiest way is to buy the coins I am assuming? How many coins do I need for this sub? Also, with the world how big is it? Is it Instanced or seemless. Example is is like AOC where anywhere you go is instanced or can you go throughout the world and feel the immersion. Thank you for your answers and I am looking forward to seeing some of you online.

The game is currently 1500 coins per month...or $15.00
The CC option to pay directly (sans coins) should be up very soon.
The world is reasonably large...I've seen bigger, but mostly smaller worlds. It can seem TOO damn large at times when you have to do a lot of running. Mounts coming "soon" (tm).
There are no multiple instances of outdoor zones...no "wilderness 1", etc. There are portals that lead from one zone to another, and / or shardships to travel between shards. (a shard being a large area of the game with multiple zones...think of them as continents).
All in all, I find the world EXTREMELY immersive, especially if you take the time to actually read the quests...they are well written, good stories, and they help you figure out just WTF happened to the world, and how it got to be so indescribably strange. I mean, you could read about the world's history on a web site...but it's so much more fun to find out through the game.
Cheers, and hope you have a great time. Grab the trial, and play a couple toons to level 7...see what you think.
ok, Im not gonna talk about the payment plan or anything here, because that stuff is available to even the most casual reader of the main web site.
All I will say is that this game, with the free client ('box'), free trial, and fair sub costs less to play for 3 months then AoC or WAR charged you for their box alone. It's great value.
What I will talk about is the rest though, happily
World size?
About the same, it feels, as AoC.
More then large enough for now, leaving plenty of room for growth.
Is it Zoned?
Yes, though with the Shard world design it dosent jar or feel unnatural.
The zones are open world, with contested nameds and open dungeons in them. This isnt GW in it's set up.
Does it use Instances?
Yes, though only to a minimum as far as I have seen. 90% of the world is open. It is fairly similar to early EQ2 in it's set up, though it manages to avoid the horrible zone design of that game in many ways.
Immersion?
SB is probably the most immersive mmorpg i have ever played.
It's lore, score, and art direction are, imo, brilliant and just pull me in. get past the newbie tutorial quests of hawksmouth and the game gets better and better.

Welcome to Spellborn
Sounds great. I actually read both of your reviews and because of these reviews is the reason why I decided to give it a shot. It sounds like it is a great older community which really excites me. I believe I joined the server that you are on and once I hit level 8 I would love to join your guild. Thank you. My in game name is "Ish".
Thats great, we would be glad to have you.
I am playing the majority of the time as Gorgon these days though, after a mid stride class change (see what I mean about SB continuing to teach me stuff?).
What this does mean is that I am active around hawksmouth and aldenvaut a lot, so feel free to shoot me a tell if you need anything
