Hey gang,
What do you guys think of this idea?
Should Blizzard create special servers where people must take an IQ test to enter? The people with IQ's 130 and higher will be allowed to enter. So, what do you think, is my idea dumb, or not?
If you think my idea is stupid, please don't flame me too bad. I can take a happy ending but I can't stand a perfect storm...

edit: The person would not have to take the IQ test every time he or she wants to play the game. The IQ test would be taken, let's say, every 6 months.

Smart people can still be pricks. Perhaps even more so because they have that whole bloated sense of self worth thing going. I don't think it would improve much.
from reading this i would say you would belong on the non high iq server then gg kthxbye
Well, I'm sure the OP wouldn't make it into one of these "high IQ" servers. The idea is ridiculously stupid. It most assuredly won't keep the idiots out, and it would only give the already-bloated population of elitists in this game even more to chew on.
If that had a server for people 21 and older, I would re-sub.
I just can't stand the kids. I hope they all put forks in their electrical sockets one day.
So you're saying I have a low IQ huh?

I like the idea. But you run into a few small problums with that idea. One its a game for the mass's its not a good idea to start singleing out players in a game like that. Two just becase you have an High IQ dos not make you better and more deserveing, so i could see hate threads 24/7 on those servers lol. An third and i wanna make this very clear, Yes if you have a High IQ you are smarter then the average person. It still dos not make you a socialy smart person, If any thing becase of high IQ you think you are better then the normal person makeing you socialy retarted.
I am not saying this to be mean. I have been been in alot of special class's (History,Goverment, Law Enforcement) and they were made to be more advanced then the others. An what i seen in my dealing with High IQ is that most of my class mates were shelted there whole life and have no idea how to hold a conversation. Now iam not saying we all are social incapable, I think alot is how we are raised. But let me stop befor i babble on. Its a bad idea in General. I think smart players will befriend smart players in general so they will only be social with one another, In short no to a high IQ server. I think to much lol.

Problem: An MMO is first and foremost a social exercise, like indeed being a human to begin with.
This means that intelligence isn't worth much unless it's paired with understanding of a whole, sometimes called wisdom. Some of the most useless people in history have been highly intelligent, in fact it's almost a pre-requisite.
As much as I'd love to study such server, the basis for this idea is of course terribly faulty.
Here's perhaps a better idea: Create a server in which all the participants had to have a really high emotional quota.
Thank you for the kind response Spade. Do you also think I have a low IQ?

I like your idea Quale. An EQ test would probably be a better judge of a person's character and social skills. I think having a server full of people with high EQ's would really make the server a much more fulfilling and positive place to play. What do you all think of Quale's idea gang?

Oh yeah I heard they're gonna roll out a MENSA server soon, don't worry. Your idea is great, but Blizz already thought of it.
Sorry OP, in this thread you are asking for trouble. Smart or not a person must always be able to communicate and adapt to people who may not be very bright. I highly doubt many super-smart people play a game like WoW... or not very much at least. The server you want would be barren, you have to realize even smart people have friends. What if their friends couldn't get in? would a smart person leave his friends just for a "smart people" server? no. Then there would be rampant cheating on the IQ test, Blizzard would only have so many questions they could make and soon enough the answer guide would be out there for people to memorize.
All I will say is for a person who obviously thinks yourself smart... you didn't put a lot of thought into this idea. Now we all fuck up, but use your head and common sense next time.

Just out of curiosity, are you the same Ichben from that crap Starsider guild who thought it was a good idea to role up a fat avatar and stand at the Coronet shuttle droid dancing in your underwear?
If so, color me not surprised. If not, forget I asked and carry on with the implausible ideas.
I am all for this. Then smug idiots like Ichben could flock together and smell their farts on one sever and i can spam trade chat with ANAL [blood strike] or Murlokinator: Salvation and no one will care. Please take your big brain to it...While we are at it lets have 21 and over servers; make people fax an ID to blizzard to have access to the server. idiot.
I miss those good times.
Thanks Bruticus, that really made me feel good, even though I'm a day late and a dollar short. :-(

I am detecting high amounts of sarcasm and Fail. I guess that means the idea sucks ass.
It seems extremely ineffective from a cost perspective seeing as it would be a one player server.
but yeah, to call this game Fantastic is like calling Twilight the Godfather of vampire movies....
/chuckle
On a similar note, I would be amongst the first to /sign to any game that has a regulated 21+ server. Don't get me wrong, kids are fine but I don't usually hang out with high-schoolers IRL and I still haven't found many good reasons to do so in MMOs.
Oh well, give us a shout if the MENSA server do go up
Yes Veritas, it is I, the dancing man of Starsider, the dancing man of the galaxy. I miss those days, I really do. The reason why I chose to dance in the Coronet shuttle was to raise money for the new players in-game.
I was not trying to cause trouble, all I was doing was trying to make a difference. Sadly, the "gods" didn't see it that way and they used a lame excuse to ban me from the server.
I didn't feel to bad about it, when I was banished from the land Darth Smedley unleashed his NGE upon the world a month later, ruining a perfect world I was once apart of. Luckily, before my banishment, I was able to develop a strong fan base and create a popular and active yahoo group that has been going strong for nearly 5 years. I still miss the galaxy though, I still miss my world...

Cooms, I sense a great deal of anger in you my friend. Why would I want to smell another person's fart? Unless his or her fart smells like daisies and roses, I have no reason to inhale the wind coming from another person's bottom. Like I said before, that anger of yours will be your undoing, I suggest you quell your hatred before your hatred quells you...

Mr. Brain Walker I never said I was a smart man. If I was I wouldn't be here asking these questions seeking answers to questions I clearly do not know. All I try to do is challenge the good people of the message board. I try to challege gamers to think outside the box and beyond. If that means looking foolish or downright silly, so be it. Mr. Walker, problems cannot be solved without trial and error. Ideas cannot be put into flrituation without mistakes being made over and over again. It is why I ask the questions nobody wants to ask, it is why I am what I am and do what I do.
Mr. Walker I mean no harm to you my friend, I only want to explore the outer limits of our imagination. Nothing more and nothing less.

I miss the galaxy too, but I don't particularly miss seeing your half-naked Pilsbury dough boy avatar gyrating around the ticket droid like a plus-sized male stripper in a chef hat. Congrats on the fanbase though, lol, I guess some people enjoyed it but personally I found you to be an eyesore and indicative of the need for the /ignore feature to remove avatars from the world instead of just blocking chat.
Although to be fair, the fact that I remember you after three years means you got the attention you wanted, so, well done I suppose.

What purpose would this serve?
130 is a bit low.
I feel like the only people that wouldn't like this idea would be the people that wouldn't be able to get on.
I think it would also be an interesting social experiment to observe how people known to be intelligent act on an MMO. A lot of people attribute the terrible behavior seen in WoW to idiots and kids, but this would be an interesting experiment to test that.
Oh well, having taken an official IQ test, I know I would make it on the server, so the idea doesn't bother me a bit.
Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.
I would contribute the behaviour seen in any MMO to anonymity, the power to behave in any way you please in the knowledge that your peers will most probably never ever meet you in person. This allows ppl to act and say whatever they please without being held accountable for thier actions.
