I think blizzard should make different servers yes..

special servers for people between 12 - 25

and servers for people between 25 - whatever

to do this you need a special keyboard with fingerprint scanners, linked directly to your profile. a profile you had to make with your own fingerprints when you made the account.. and it scanning your fingerprints all the time.

if it for some reason get played with some outhers fingerprints on your account, the account get banned.. and so does your you as a person, even under a different name.. so you cant make a new account eather "ever".

and btw.. that IQ stuff of yours would never work, because something EVERYONE knows is:

People with a high IQ are most likely Soscially Retarded, not weidt they want there own servers.. where no one talking to att all, why not just play a singleplayer game instead?

If you think my idea is stupid, please don't flame me too bad. I can take a happy ending but I can't stand a perfect storm...

edit: The person would not have to take the IQ test every time he or she wants to play the game. The IQ test would be taken, let's say, every 6 months.

I can see a lot of people trying to buy verified accounts on ebay to play with the mature crowd.

I got sick of people getting me wiped  4 times on simple bosses like thaddius in pugs because they do not know how to differentiate simple things like left and right and hence causing me to incur a repair bill. If they actually implement this i might still consider coming back to this game.

    Great idea Icy :-)

Just as this has anything to do with IQ.

Video games are 60% eye hand coordination and 30% area awareness.

You DO know that one of the MOST intelligent people living on this planet is clustered to a chair and can only move his head ?

Probably the worst thread in ages.

    What is the other 10%?

Really, the vast majority of people who would move onto a server like this thinking they're soooo much more superior then others would be those types.

True, but a good side effect of that would be that we wouldn't have to deal with those obnoxious, arrogant people anymore when we group. On the opposite end, that's why I wanted Darkfall to at least have some staying power so that  all those hardcore LEET jerks who enjoy ganking would flock there.

I just finished reading your post and all I can think is "Seriously?".  You have to have a low IQ to even think of this idea.  Speaking of IQ if you have ever taken a psychology course you would know that the IQ test isnt the end all be all of intelligence.  It isnt even a very accurate test, many institutions dont even consider it as legitamite.

I think what your asking for is a server that has people whom are very attentive to their games.  I know some very smart people that play WoW and let me tell you they suck really bad at it simply because its a game and they could care less if their character dies or other characters die because of them.  The utopia that you are trying to create in your head is a fantasy, it will never become a reality, just use a blacklist and filter out all the retarded people you come across.

I don't think that the title used has ever had a factor on my ability to play an MMO.

Some of the people you would probably find offensive or horrible to group with (for various reasons).  Well a good chunk of those have "high iq's".  Some of the people who act like morons in general chat are suppoedly pretty smart...

These forums are a good example.

Anyway to answer your question I need to know what your goal is.

If you want people that "can play the game" then you'd need a different type of test.  LIke a "can you play your class" test...

If you mean community standards... then what you really want is for the community standard guidelines to actually be enforced...

Regardless I'm not sure how "IQ" or "being smart" actually comes in as a factor here.

I think an age dependent server would be best.

College degree server would be good, but that would alittle costly checking peoples credentials lol.

I wonder if this post was made by someone in a military suit and a nazi cross in the chest.... cuase thats what looks like ;)

You might have high IQ but you fail in every aspect of social life and democracy

I hope you dont go into politics and end beeing a major politician in this tiny globe... we had enough mass murderers already

We start by making servers for high IQ's, or better, only allow high IQ ppl to play.

Tomorrow black ppl cant play either.

After that, the handicaped ppl cant either

..and someday only ppl that share same politics path, country, region etc

Human rights are a bit old and you should start reading them

This idea is definitely not in the spirit of egalitarianism and I can see why some might find it quite offensive.

That being said, I'd actually LOVE to see this as a social experiment to see how it would affect gameplay/ community interactions.

I have an impression based completely on my own observations that people with higher intelligence are much less inclined toward agression and do not enjoy destruction as much as creativity and cooperation.. this of course has big exceptions (what would the entire world of fiction/ sci-fi/ fantasy gaming be without evil geniuses??).

It seems to me that evolution of higher intelligence will naturally foster less unnecessary agression.  Even smart folks know you can't avoid taking the gloves off sometimes however.

Congrats on creating a lightning rod of a thread guaranteed to create some interesting exchanges.

By the way my interest is purely academic- I only lasted in WoW about 3 months a couple years ago.  The thread title caught my eye.

deviliscious: (PS. I have been told that when I use scientific language, it does not make me sound more intelligent, it only makes me sound like a jackass. It makes me appear that I am not knowledgable enough in the subject I am discussing to be able to translate it for people outside the field to understand. Some advice you might consider as well)

World of Warcraft is a game designed to be played by reasonably intelligent six-year-olds.

What, exactly, would someone NEED a genius-level I.Q. to do in the game?  If you want to sit around chatting about Proust, just set up your own damned testing procedure for a forum or guild - then you can spend all day impressing the holy living heck out of each other, if that's what floats your boat.

Personally, I've never once been playing an MMO and thought: "Gosh, I wish these guys could do quadratic equations in their heads faster!"

On the other hand, there've been more than a few times I've thought how nice it would be if crack had never been invented.  Now there's an "elite" server I could get on board with.  Forget the IQ test; just give everybody a good old-fashioned drug test.

Been so long for me that I don't really recall if there was anything in the game that required problem solving ability.  I've spent 98% of my gaming time in EvE for the past 4 years where inability to solve problems usually results in complete loss of all of your ingame posessions followed by ragequit.

As far as the drug test thing, I don't / can't partake of recreational chemistry because of work, but of all the people I've known that were really gifted (150+ IQ) about half of them were regular drug users of one sort or another.  I suspect they need something to help them forget about all the stupid things they see people do every day.

This thread Wins... congratulations all round.

Thank you Ichben. I'm sorry I missed you in SWG; I would certainly have stayed to watch your virtual gyrations as you shook that sumo-like frame.

But how cruel life would be if in some future gameworld we were segregated simply because of our different intellects.

And what if I wanted to play with a friend or relative -even spouse - but only one of us passed the IQ test.

I'm not going to deconstruct every sentence, just one, because it's hilarious.

"ichben Einberliner", should be, "Ich bin ein Berliner".  Which in itself is funny, because it isn't proper German (assuming you know the original reference, because it doesn't make any sense within the context of your post).  What the original speaker was trying to say was "I am a person from Berlin", or a "citizen of Berlin", the correct German would be "Ich bin Berliner".  By using the article "ein", he is stating "I am a [Jelly Donut]", (a Berliner's closest cousin is a Jelly Donut).  Which again, is interesting because you are using it in a post to suggest that there should be 130+ IQ servers (which implies you too have a 130+ IQ).

I think my point is obvious.

Mr. Ulberon, my name is my name and I'm sticking too it!!! Besides, I'm not going to tell you how to say and spell your name, so you shouldn't tell me how to say and spell my name, GOT IT BUD!!!

I've said it before and I will say it again, I never said I had an IQ over 130. I also never said I was a genius in any way or form. I"m just a simply guy trying my best to put forth a simple idea that will bring about a simple discussion in a simply and carefree way, is all that too hard to understand!!! Why must everyone be so mean to me? Why must you people call me names when my only intention for this thread was to get people talking??

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away I was a happy man. I was a dancer in a world full of magic and mystery. I was an entertainer in a galaxy that had so much promise and potential until the dark man came. I think you all know who the dark man is. I think you all know the dirty Sith's name. Anyway I think I made my point loud and clear. Chew on that Mr. Ulberon and get back to me when you are done.

Ive followed this thread and I cant buy that argument you just used about "a simply guy..."  when you first of all wanted to create a mensa server for a .....(social) game. Stick to what you suggest and if you cant find argument, then leave the idea. And if you believe pepole are mean I would suggest that you dont take it personally simply becuse its Internet- a place where every nerd can become a bully.  I would suggest that you visit a mma forum to see what kind of behavior exists in the dark corner of the internet.

edit: and I for one would like to see a Mensa server just to study it in a social experiment with the tese:"what will happen if you give intellects alot of free time, suger and a tauren".

I was tested for IQ a while back and got a 212.  I even got accepted in the Genius Club known as Mensa, like that really means anything.

I have played WoW since release.

Now, I am sure my IQ is probably not much better than 100.  Not because of the intelligence of who I play with, but, rather, the sheer lack of thought it takes to play that game for day after day...

All joking aside, some of the smartest people I have known have not been geniuses.  Intelligence comes in many forms that defy any standardized testing, and just because a test says you are smart doesn't mean you know how to act or be smart-- huge difference.

    Mensa rolls Horde, btw.
