Hello there.  Good to see that this part of the forum is  still active in some ways. Ive a problem that I hope one of you pepole can help me with.

I found a copy of Vanguard for 2£ and with that comes 30 days of play time (I bought 5 copies hehe). I begun my subscription and here is the problem. When I try to download the updates, after Ive installed the game ofc, I get this error message: 

"Ra63_P1_C4_treeplatforms_mesh.usx_delta....Error; bad file. Please redownload this file." 

It seems to me that the client is downloading corrupt data and that it cant handle them. Ive tried to reinstall the game on diffrent disk but with the same problem. What to do?

Use the SOE support page, they have a live chat thing with engineers.

try this (this was happening to me as well)

 

When you get the error dont shut down the launcher, click on the button that says (i think) details (should be just below the update bar)

This then brings up a pop up showing the files downloaded, in here click FULL SCAN, it will resume the download from teh corrupted file, I had it happen several times, jsut perservere and you will get it downloaded

one thing you can do also is if you got a specific file name that is bad just go into the vanguard directory and find the file and delete it.  It will redownload the missing file.  Course a full scan is the best solution it just takes longer.

No good answer  from the live crew, didnt get any, and I had no sucess with the full scan as well. Damn this game with its many pros and cons

Well, that is a specific corrupted file.  Pretty unique problem.  Did the deletion of the file and restarting the download work?

Also, it is safe to delete the Caches folder in your bin file and restart the download as well.

If the PC is 2-years old or newer, you should be fine.  IoD is tough because there can be over a 100 people in that chunk alone, but once outside IoD the population spreads out and isn't so tough on the hardware.  40 or so people in a chunk after that is more reasonable.

I have no way of helping you, sorry. I was just wondering why you bought 5 copies?

When you buy 5 copies you get 5x30 days of play time as well. And I do like Vanguard alot, its the greatest mmo experince for me since I first joined a group into SFK, so I bought alot of game time for no money at all .

 

Ive gotten alot of good answers from you guys here at MMORPG but I cant seem to get it work. I will try to install the dreaded "station launcher" to see if I can download the new patch.

You can stack the 30 days free on to one account? I thought you had to make separate accounts with each 30 days free.

Glad to see that this forum could give some good information for once  

And I solved my problem with downloading station launcher and voila. Its downloading quite fast.

 So how is Vanguard doing? I left when they announced something about raising the level cap. I don't want to play another game that just extends the grind instead of adding gameplay features. Where's my guild PvP, where's the naval combat, all the awesome druid spells, the myriad of other features they left out of launch? Not to mention it became more like WoW every month, adding sparkles to all the quest objectives, taking out EE, lesser death penalty, faster experience rate.

 

What direction is the game currently going in/what is on the slate to be added? It really was a great game, just handled poorly and taken in the wrong direction.

It... it really doesn't. 

 

The game originally had a plan for content progression. I'll go over it with ya. After APW and the Griffon quest line were released, the next plan was to work on City of Brass dungeon along with Trial Island. But instead of doing City of Brass (which was going to be the next raid dungeon), they instead take Pantheon of the Ancient (one of the best mid level dungeons in game), and strip it down to turn it into a higher level dungeon. So instead of leaving Pantheon the way it is and populating an area that is already made, they redo an area completely (which takes more time).

To summarize, the devs are putting more work on themselves by going back over the work that the previous devs did. Which isn't smart if you're trying to push content out in a timely manner.

Hmmmm... the way I understood things was the Pantheon of the Anicents was always broken.  Rather than fixing it they decided to use it for a high level dungeon. 

One of the quotes I found was:

Silius has posted about this and it seems that once this latest patch goes out live he will have some time in his schedule to go back and take a look at pantheon. The biggest problem is that the person who originally programmed an designed Pantheon is no longer on the team and it might take some time to slog through the whole place.

Correct. Pantheon of Ancients has always been broken.  I think the decision to revamp it as a 6, 12 and 24-man raid dungeon is the way to go and still being able to capitalize on the infrastructure and lore.

And yes, Isle of Dawn did require a lot of time and resources but it was well worth it in my opinion.  It has brought a lot of new players into the game.

Vanguard seems to be doing rather good at Helgar. Many of the pepole that begun to play VG at the same time as me, late 2008, stil enjoys the game and are in the same guild as last time. As usuall its hard to find players in the city but I did team up with some random players in diffrent places.

Since I last played Ive chanage my compture parts from "Phenom x4 3ghz/8GB 800Mhz ram/7.200 hard drive" to an "i7@4ghz/8gb 1600Mhz ram/10.000 hard drive" and I do enjoy the game with better fps. I guess, and hope, that its becuse SOE has done some good codeing but I believe its the Hyper threading and 1ghz more that does the work. To bad the shuttering that occurs now and then is still there.
