predecessor of Darkfall ?

LenceLence Member CommonPosts: 109

Do you think Dragon Empires was the predecessor of Darkfall ? ? They had great PvP system and clan vs clan politics.

Dragon Empires was a fantasy massively multiplayer online role-playing game developed by UK-based Codemasters. Its main focus was player versus player clan action to take control of 50 cities in five empires within its world.

Never heard of it, sorry :(

Unlikely, the graphics and interface are a thousand times better then Dork-n-Fail.

Besides I seem to remember that the game had some commercial success which is very unlikely at this time for AV with their absymal CS and business practices.

I think the base of Darkfall was UO. The problem is that most players never played that MMO and base all their  opinions on WoW and the like

I have been playing UO since 1998, quit when AoS was released and have been on classic UO cough shards ever since. I can say that Darkfall Online is in no way like the ultimate sandbox mmo, classic Ultima Online. Sadly, I think people are UO noobs who think the two games are the same. Both games have full loot and thats about it. If Darkfall Online was anything what classic UO was, there would be a massive amount of people beating down the doors to play. This is not the case, you have a developer Tasos who is a bullcrap artist who released a crap game worse than any free to play item mall mmo.

The butthurt vapor trolls will never rest huh. Have you ever even looked at the Darkfall screenshot? Cause the UI looks very very similar to the screenshots provided. Dork-n-Fail, creative, too bad the game is still selling out of thousands of copies every time the store opens.

Nah, the true predecessor for DF was Ultima Online, the two games are very similar in many aspects.

If you say so. It has all the foundations of a great sandbox game. Time will fill in the fluff, but as it is now, its already a very worthy game on its own. Take off the nostalgia goggles and remember what UO was like within the first month of launch.

Please really dont mix up Darkfall and UO, im playing DFO and having fun above all issues, but please dont tell this BS, Classic Ultima Online gave far much freedom and it actually was a sandbox, DFO is a good warfare mmorpg.

UO was the in my mind the FIRST MMO ever. I know things were out before it but bear with me. It had to grow and whatnot to learn what worked and what didn't and had to add features definitely. But it has been doing so, and DF had the luxury of tons and tons of MMOs coming out over the years to learn what works, what doesn't, what people want, etc. And the point of the matter is, DF is LESS feature complete than the first MMO made at t's release! Don't make excuses for it, its 2009 now.

And a note: I can see why you DON'T have nostalgia goggles on, because you still think it's 1998 and it's okay.

Oh you poor poor trolls. You spent years crying vaporware, not you still spend all your time trying to tear this game down. All I can ask is, why? What did a groundbreaking indie game do to make you all QQ so hard?

As for the person saying Darkfall is selling 50 copies a day, yeah... you should really check the in game numbers before you sound like a tard.

Given the extended skillsets available, housing, exploration , mobs and playstyles available at UO's  launch, I am lost as to how anyone can suggest darkfall comapares with it.

Even the hired help must agree Darkfall is very , very limited in comparison.

I would suggest its nearest predecessor in terms of Game ethos would be dark and Light.

And no, that isnt referrring to developers or cancellations or any such thing, merely what each game actually contained at launch.

That's just to make-up for the thousands that bought this game, and then realized, "Ohhh,  I made a BIG mistake here."  And quit.

    Getting lazy here but:

DF is not groundbreaking, it has ZERO new features from other MMOs

Not tearing the game down but the site is not updated for their game, so people come here to see if they want to buy it. SOME people want to make sure logic and criticism is put to the game so people don't have to waste $50.

And your in game numbers don't mean they sell thousands of copies of the game every time the story opens. Those two ideas are not correlated. And if they WERE, that makes that thousands of people are quitting every day or so and the server only holds what? 10k people? By your logic, 10-X% of your population leaves every few days.

With that kind of churn D-n-F has a higher turnover rate then even WoW. I am really impressed.

BTW Signus prove your number or I call BS on them. You seem to think since you have a blog that you can spout any old crap and people believe it to be the truth. Guess what buckko, don't work here.

Give me an actual link where I can see the sales figures, and the concurrent number of people in game at anyone time or you are full of hot air and crap, and just proving more and more how worthless your comments really are.

Darkfall has no predecessor because nothing has ever been that horrible before.
