On another note, PETA won't have a problem with this slaughter because pigs are not cute and cuddly and do cute little human things with their hands like sea otters. (That was a spin off of a Dennis Leary CD, in case it sounds familiar.)

Only the christian minority eat the pork. Thats why its only 300-350 thousand pigs rather than a million+

It is allowed by Islamic law to raise pigs. They are not allowed to eat them, but they can sell them to people who do for profit. It is the same in the Bible when you read the old testament. Jews could raise pigs and other things, but weren't allowed to do those things themselves. They could live amongst non-Hebrews and do business (many times at a great profit) while not actively partaking of such things.
Strictly for profit. This is done with many things today that Jewish or Islamic people are forbidden to partake in for consumption or pleasure, but are allowed earn profits from selling it to non-believers.
Kind of like how the Taliban doesn't use opium, heroin or other narcotics because of Islamic law, but they are allowed to sell that stuff to their enemies who do.
