How's it going so far?  Run into any issues or anything once you got deeper into the game?  Or does it maintain it's smooth as you progress?

Personally I'm on hiatus until official NA release.  Decided I didn't want to progress just to quit and restart in a few months.  It was a tough choice though after the cob ended.

The only problem I have with it at all is the all-too-typical level disparity. If your buddies are level 20 and you're level 14,  you will find hunting with them to be a major challenge unless you're staying clear of most of the combat or have a cleric babysitting you.

Other than that, the game is an amazing achievement. It took the Blizzard approach of taking an existing working design and building on top of that with additional enhancements, extra features and multiple conveniences.  I couldprobably write a few pages about all the little coolnesses in Aion but the short of it is - the game is simply fun and entertaining.

How's the lag?  That's the only thing that put me off until the NA release.

The game is incredible, polished, no lag at all. The issue most NA players will have is the long leveling and the uh, lack of endgame.

I havent played enough to give you a thorough answer but, the game is incredibly smooth, sometimes some of the quests are a bit spread out from spot to spot, grouping can be a pain but this is in no fault to the game but the fact that I dont read chinese.

My only real gripe about this game, when I attack someone, the flashy way the numbers come up (damage) and the asian sound of the charachters reminds me of street fighter.

I lagged like a son-of-a-gun during the OB on three different servers.

If this went away with the retail release I'd consider renewing my account.

It was so bad I'd have to push the attack number 4-5 times before seeing a response...  I knew instantly that I wouldn't stand a chance in pvp with a pause like that.

    Dayton, Ohio ---> China

The issue you're experiencing will more than likely be gone if you play on NA/EU servers when threy come out.

Just curious...since your pretty much the only person Ive heard say this (so far) Im wondering if its your system or maybe your connection?

If it isnt, Id immagine that lag would dissapear once the game was in the US.

The version that China is using is missing some quest and map area's making lvling a pain from lvl25-29. At lvl29 I finally got more quest and by just doing them I got 1/2 the exp needed to lvl30. Your gonna have to find the blue quest's on your own so expect to do a little exploring.  The yellow or "main quest" auto-pop up in your quest log when you lvl.

There is one SpiriteMaster stigma that has been reported to not work and the Sorcerer's sleep skill will put you AFK mode for 20 sec and there Hellfire nuke has a zero chance of missing and is way OP for it's lvl making for 1 hit kills.

Sleep skill will be reduced from 20>10 sec. Hellfire's ACC will be lowered in the patches to come.

Lag becomes an issue for me when I play late at night (west coast time) but it's to be expected seeing that it is prime time in China.

Perhaps I'm an isolated case, but I definitely experienced a bit of lag when I tried it last week.  It wasn't bad lag and would've been fine to play with until NA release IF it was a PVE game.  Being a PVP game I quickly uninstalled it and will try it again when it's released in NA.

It's pretty. Everything flows, skills, movement, combat. Been lagfree except for a slight delay (ca ~0.5 seconds) on spells due to latency, since I'm playing from northern EU. Far away..

The game runs super-smooth with max settings on my several years old PC. No fps lagg whatsoever.

Has been a nice experience for me so far. Pretty crowded sometimes even with channeled newbie-zones, popular game... ;)

Im only level 10.  But I seen the auction house is full of level 40+ gears,  how do these gears end up there if there are maps missing with high lvl mobs?

The lag is not on your end but on the server end. There are 6 Region's and each region has a different IP company running it. Some regions are better than others.

That said, I still get lag on peak hours now.  OB was a lag fest do the over population but now with the live client it's not as bad.

I did not say all the map's are missing, I said SOME are missing.  lol    Only one map is limited, and with this client version there is missing quest, content, and map area's.

Took my lvl29 Chanter back to the lvl10-20 area in order to finish some elite quest I still have in my log. When you get 10 lvls higher than a mob, they will not aggro you anymore (these elite's are lvl18-19 and there still hard as hell to kill even soloing with my lvl29 char). Best to do this area with a good party with lvl24 people.

lack of endgame? you mean like no raiding dungeons where you can "lameride" with 25 idiots?

i tought Aions endgame is war between 2 races wich means pvp and if thats not true then im seriously reconsidering playing it even, endgame with only raiding dungeon option is not what i seek at this point at all !

the game looks nice, even though the animations could have been better, i dont think they had motion capturing, if so they are probably as good as it will get.

sounds a bit lame too but ok.

its very well pollished very stable and runs very smooth, but the gameplay feels really boring. it feels practical like wow. its more convinient with the combos but it feels virtually the same. maybe aoc killed normal mmo gameplays for me but having to target a mob to hit him or running through mobs really feels lame by now. And i missed sprinting after 3 minutes.

that combined with only pvp endgame, wich gets boring for me after a weak, leaves me only with beautyfull chars and great looking items. wich is very important dont get me wrong but its not enough for me.

Surprisingly no lag for me, I couldn't believe I am running on a Chinese server very smooth.  I play mostly in the AM on Eastern time, populatioin is decent if not a bit crowded at times.

Graphics and customization of characters are this games strong point.  It's only day two for me so I can't make the call on endgame and PvP yet I am still discovering things as I go along.

I am a little curious as to how the animations could have been better. So far to my knowledge Aion has the best mmorpg animations on the market. In fact I am wondering if you have ever played or even watched some of the gameplay videos based on that statement. In fact you mention the gameplay is boring...this kind of ties into animation...hmm im not sure if im being biased because I think the game looks amazing or not...but your comments confuse me. Also...unless your 30+ if im not mistaken you cant even go into pvp or maybe its 20+. Id reccomend giving the game a shot through a trial at the very least before discounting a games endgame without trying it.

For those of you interested in playing with us.

You will find most of the english speaking players on North China server Region 2 Azariel.  For more info checkout Aion Source.

As for the game itself, I am having a blast.  I just began taking up crafting and it is surprisingly easy to level up your production skills.  For example:

Say you want to level up from lvl 10 - 20 Armorsmithing.  The NPC will give you a level 10 repeatable crafting quest called a "work order" that tells you to make X number of the item.  The item you create is for exp alone and cannot be traded or sold.  But the mats used for the quest item are all attainable from the nearby Armorsmithing NPC.  Every 10 levels you will receive these types of quests.

The only lag I  experience is during peak times (afternoon or late at night) and I am from US central.  But even then, the lag is only for a few seconds or less and is nothing to worry about.

I know players who are already level 35 in our guild and the translations to english are still available.

You are right that the animations are really nice in this game. hard to really say anything bad about them at all. If I had anything bad to say about them is sometimes they can be a little bit corny. Maybe too much for some people's tastes. the audio that goes with them is still in Chinese so it does distract from them slighty. I suspect they will redo them slighty and it will make them a bit less corny.

One odd thing I have noticed. If you do a /dance, afterwards you cannot do any other emote until you move your character and stop the dancing he/she is doing. Sort of like /dance locks out the other emotes.

They feel disconnected to the world, probably because of the huge hight diffrence you can create charakters with, and social and dance animations are rather dull. again im guessing they didnt have motion capturing, if they did their would be no reason for the 2 second dance animations, for not having mc they are fine there a better out there in mmo´s though because they had mc.

they defenetly arent near to the best animations, the models are no doubt the best cartonish style models but the animation no.

i played the game on the free chinese server until i got bored with it too much to go on, if you want you can try it yourself just goggle a bit you will find guides to do so.

im not discussing its endgame im no pvp nut and the gameplay isnt fun for me, so there is really no reason for me to continue playing it.

im sure it will finds its player base here though.
