Ah ha. Ok, should have rephrased it to. What are the things you dislike in Aion?
Ranger or Archer whatever, dont bash me for it. I know the Ascension quest is level 10. Thats when you get wings.
Graphics aside, is there more to it? Lore? Role playing and immersion?
not sure where you read rangers was op they're pretty gimp actually and i've seen videos of them getting dominated by assassins wich is just odd in flying pvp or gound pvp really since the sin has to get upo close enough to do dmg. unless maybe they got buffed in the korean retail since i played it last?
Rangers WERE OPed. The last few patches have destroyed them.
At least someone agreed to my post. Rangers may wear leather but in aerial combat they have the advantage.
I do agree on the stigma system misleading so many people. I too have just found out that the stigma is only an additional skill but not a cross-class skill that lets you equip other class skills.
I hope in NA/EU they will also change the voice-overs of skills. Its kinda annoying hearing the same spell chanting over and over again. And the thing is that you are using the skill as your main attacking spell. For ex: In Aion-CN the cleric would say "se ti ri ki" for attack, and for heal "sei re ge". Imagine hearing that many times but in English... "thunderbolt" or "heal!" thats funny in a western MMO.
I get the feeling you think this is a solo pvp game, if so you are mistaken.

I only reached around level 22 (can't remember the exact level) before my trial ended. So, I can't comment too much on what I don't like. I definitely didn't like that are unable to fly in all areas, and your wings are on timers. I knew about this, but still don't like it. Another thing is my combo attacks on the Gladiotor didn't really vary from the first attack. I believe one instant damage attack lead to a choice between 2 more instant damage attacks, which lead to another instant damage attack, which leads to a knock down. Maybe the english tooltip wasn't correct, and I didn't realize other affects, i don;t know. The main thing I don't like about Aion is it's still pretty much the same game most of us have been playing (aka EQ2, WoW, WAR, etc). I'm not playing anything at the moment, unless I feel WAR Land of the Dead is actually good. So hopefully when Aion is released it won't matter too much to me, as it will feel kind of fresh.
The game changes when you get to lvl 25, any lvl below that will feel like any other MMO.

Ephimero, What do you mean endgame doesn't revolve around the Abyss? I was under the impression that the Abyss was the main focus of the game. Is the pvp in the Abyss not that active? Also, what you mean by "carebear penalties through rifts?" I'm also curious about how Aion's Abyss compares to WAR's RvR lakes, if anybody can tell me. My main concern is lag, but also if the PvP is all about the zerg. I used to think I would love huge battles... I don't mind them, but I realized that I enjoy smaller fights a lot more.
I mean that fortress sieges and abyss activities are more of a daily alternative than the endgame itself, the endgame would be instance runs+PvP through rifts, I mean, nobody suffers if your enemy captures a fortress, however, you will suffer if your enemies get to block your instances and if your enemies block rift quests.
I loved that in 1.1, 1.2 however made rifts a bit worse for people who like consequences on the PvP, right now it's harder to impact the enemy side than in 1.1 because you've got restrictions on rifts, and you might even get debuffed if you kill many people. I liked it the other way better because it encouraged groupping, but then again that's me being selfish.
About your last question, Aion is not limited byt hardware requirements, I've been in pretty massive fights without lagging at all, and the server is in Korea. Aion has room for zerg fights, however, I feel that compared to WAR, numbers aren't that important. I think a proper class setup and communication is more important, I felt that War's battles were a bit too individualist, so zergs had a bigger impact.
Thanks for the info. The pvp in Aion sounds a lot more fun.
To all the people who are saying there isn't enough content, or that there are things missing.. can a game come out before we start complaining? I realize it's in China and what-not and you impatient folks are playing it already, but maybe that's why you should just be patient? There's more content coming to the US version of the game.. and the rest of that stuff?
Give it time. More will come. If you shoot it down before it even comes out, then it's really going to have no chance at surviving in this market. Look at Tabula Rasa. It had some awesome stuff, but because people shot it down it's gone. Let's lighten up and play a game what it's meant to be: for fun. Not just hit the level cap and complain. Where's the fun in that?

True, one shouldn't give a last judgment after seeing only the chinese version. But expecting the game to change drastically is no realistic, the korean patchnotes aren't exactly secret, and it's not THAT much of a difference. And the western version will always be a step behind the korean one as far as content and gameplay are concerned.
In the long run I think it is better to take the game for what it is and avoid building unrealistic expectations. There are a few fresh ideas in the game, the graphics and sound are nice even if they aren't as stunning as some. But people tend to forget about the surface after a month and interest themselves with substance instead. They will end up comparing the amount of content to existing titles, and unless I'm missing something important it won't be a favorable comparison. Lack of content hampered the growth of LotRO, and the fact that some players had to grind three or four levels out of 80 in AoC caused an uproar.
NCSoft woud be wise to stick with their subtle, non overhyping approach and let the playerbase grow slowly in the western market, rather than sell a lot of boxes and risk a lot of disappointment. The fact that some westerners already pays for and enjoys the outdated chinese version is a strong indicator that there will be enough early adopters even without any massive marketing campaigns. And with millions of players in Asia to back the game up I am sure the amount of content will grow quickly.
the only thing that grinds my gears about this game is the lack of swimming....oh and maybe the fact that there are not many armor graphics so you look the same, and like everyone else.....
As for the other poster- Some armor is over the top I agree, IE endgame plate but this is a flavor choice, I know MANY Americans who are in love with it. So that is a personal problem. If you dislike the art direction of AIon then sure, do not play it, but to cite that as a problem with the game is ridiculous. In AIon there are many many many armor skins, on top of that there are dyes to change armor colors on top of that you can retain certain armor skins for armor you are wearing. That for a new game is a LOT of options and MORE then most established MMOs! Anyone doubting the sheer amount of variety, simply research it yourself, there are many places show casing the plethora of armor types in Aion and again not counting the other options that Aion gives you to take it further. As for EQ2 allowing layering of armor...you do know that is a more recent feature. EQ2 is nearing 4.5 years, armor layering came out...a year ago? So it took them 3-3.5 years to add this option to their game....also let us not forget that EQ2 had/has terrible armor options as in lacking them. It was so bad that people were leaving the game due to it having hardly any armor skins and everything being recycled.
Aion class selection is standard stuff, no it does not have the laundry list of specific classes that play a specific way that you are asking for. However most games do not have a EQ style bard or chanter anymore, except perhaps EQ2, which is still a dumbed down version of EQ1 in many respects. Gladiator - Heavy armor melee class. Does pretty good damage, excellent group tank, good raid type offtank, solid all around pvp char. Templar - your more specialized heavy armor melee, tailored more to defensive play style and raid tanking. Assassin - High melee dps, stealth, evasion based class. Ranger - This is a class that has a lot of variety game to game. Ranger in Aion is moderate DPS, moderate range, some melee but really shines with traps and great CC. Sorcerer - Glass cannon, high ranged DPS, one of the top CC classes, long cast times. Spirit Master - Pet class, lots of micro managing, very very similar to the EQ1 Mage class but evolved. Chanter - This is your melee hybrid. Decent melee DPS, decent group buffs, can off heal when needed, can take a hit. Jack of all trades, master of none. Cleric - Strong Healer, good survival, ok damage output. This is standard class selection of a MMO. Sure on paper it looks small compared to games like say...WAR or EQ2, however those games use a mirroring method and the classes tend to blend into eachother a great deal. In Aion the classes all truly snd out and apart from eachother. I remember long ago that people mocked WoW for having such a limited class selection compared to EQ2...in the end in EARLY wow, the classes were far more flavorful (now not so much as WoW to appease the masses has blended classes together). Aion has it faults, it truly does, but the faults it does have are minor and easily overlooked. When I look all the games to have come ot since, heck, EQ1, Aion is truly a great game as it is a polished and finished product. More Aion is purely fun and enjoyable to play and unlike many games where I pray for patches to FIX things or add in content that should have been there from the launch, with Aion I simply...enjoy the patches and the content it brings to the existing good content I have at my fingger tips.
i started my thread with "why i can't get myself to login anymore", i did not say anything about aion being a bad game or me hating it or anything along those lines, i do find it curious that people are then trying to tell me that the reasons i am not logging in anymore are actually none.
i do not care about variety if the top tier armors don't look good to me, yes eq2 is 4.5 years old, so what? the point of new games is that they feature new things, not that they start at the exact same point where the earlier ones did, apart from that it is no argument to say that other mmorpgs didn't do something so aion doesn't have to, aion implemented a system and has restrictions on it which still no one was able to explain to me.
i have never argued that aion doesn't have alot of classes that are standard these days, i answered to the claim that aion features the traditional classes, which it certainly does not. i don't care how you're going to argue, the fact is, those are not the traditional classes. which does not mean the classes are bad or anyhing, the only thing i said was that i can't find a class i like, nothing more, so again, i don't see how you could even start arguing over this. i also never complained about the number of classes.
I am going to play Aion at release but what makes me hate it right off the bat is the lack of end game. The lack of crafting. The lack of fantasy graphics.
Otherwise, Aion is fun and it is probably more fun than any other MMO i've ever played.
the only thing that grinds my gears about this game is the lack of swimming....oh and maybe the fact that there are not many armor graphics so you look the same, and like everyone else.....

There is no lack of fantasy graphics, I think you'll have to be more specific there you mean lack of bland and realistic medieval graphics with a touch of fancy. Fortunately that's not all that fantasy is.

Ummm you must be thinking of another game, because AION has a very good crafting system. Nothing like EvE, but it is far better than anything out now.
End game is still being built. Like any other new game, PvE raids take a backseat to getting the first 9/10s of the game out the door. PvP is also getting upped as patches flow from Korea. All that aside, Aion currently has more to offer top level players than WAR does, and certainly more than AoC.
the only thing that grinds my gears about this game is the lack of swimming....oh and maybe the fact that there are not many armor graphics so you look the same, and like everyone else.....
The swimming part is true, then again, there are a pair of lakes and thats it, you don't need to swim, NCsoft didn't consider it as a priority and I can see why, I don't like it, but I can't understand it being gamebreaking. The armor part is false on so many levels.
There are around 8 different armors per tier, and then, at level 30, you can swap your skins, so if you like the level 30's looks but the level 50's stats, you mix them. War released with 2 sets per tier (which looked almost identical to the previous tier's) and in AoC everyone was wearing the same red robe, so, compared to western games, Aion gives way more choice in looks that most of the current MMOs in the market.
Unlike in most of the games, while being completely different, the armor parts still fit, so I can use level 45 boots with level 26 armor and still look awesome.
Apart from my chars thinking they are wearing heavy diving suits when entering water,I love Aion, everything feels right and in place.
Also armors are diverse ,it's still pretty early and you can change the graphics of your armor if you want by going to a NPC in either Sanctum or Pandemonium, you basicly select what armor you want to change it's apereance and what apereance you want, you need to provide the item and it will be destroyed in the process, but you get to kick your "uber stats" armor and make it look badass.
Also OP is full of shit, soo dont listen to him,it's pretty easy to tell tbh:
"I have played Aion China, and have a level 30+ character plus 2 20+ characters of other jobs."
And then he goes
"7. Not much skin. Ive heard the mobs youll be fighting at level 20 will be the same ones youll be fighting at 40 but they just comes in different colors. I think i notice this too. OMG, cant even produce enough skin, and this was supposed to be a big budget game. I love to say this. This game got KOREANED."
Bolded out the important stuff, you should be able to make the connection.

So you found the bold function, good for you! Of course he would say he "heard" the mobs are the same at level 40, because he already admitted he only reached level 30 himself.
To be honest I'm not too bothered by posts like the one he made, it is to be expected, and even if they are usually exaggerated, there is also a kernel of truth in them. Giving people more reasonable and realistic expectations is for the best. The only true fanboy behaviour is to automaticaly dismiss any critisism or meet it with ad hominen arguments.

He said lvl 30+ (meaning not 30,but higher),and if he even did what he claims,he should have bumped into lvl 38+ mobs.
He said lvl 30+ (meaning not 30,but higher),and if he even did what he claims,he should have bumped into lvl 38+ mobs.
Level 30+ means higher than, or equal to level 30, if the span had not included 30, then it would have been 31+.
The fact that he didn't claim first hand knowledge of what happens at a level ten steps above his own gives the OP more credibility, not less. And for all we know he did bump into some lvl 38+ mobs with the same looks as what he had already encountered, but refused to draw any conclusion from these somewhat limited observations.
Anyway, I'm just playing devils advocate here, personally I prefer to form my own opinions on matters like these, and I encourage everyone else to do the same. Taking the words of any onesided reviewer on blind faith is just dumb.
I do not know much details but feel Aion like Lineage successor. I do not see anything bad about it, but looks that OP have not see that. Just find a game for you. For shure there will be plenty enough players for Aion.

I am not saying things are going to change drastaclly, and I am not saying your going to like our version but dont judge a version that is not meant for you.
i hope you really aren't, because the chances of anything changing but the text is minimal, it's gonna be a big surprise if the exp curve is adjusted, anything more than that is simply not going to change, therefore i don't think comments like yours have any weight at all, this is like the "it is still beta, on release everything will change!"-comments, and it has never changed, the picture you get from aion at this point is just as good as the one you will get on release.
Personally I could really care less about aion now as it seams its target audiance is aimed at the WoW crowd.(and no I am not saying aion is like wow). My argument holds alot of weight because the fact is your playing a version not meant for you, and no one in NA/EU can argue that. You can downplay that little fact all you want but it still is there. You can speculate things wont change much just as a aion fan could speculate that it could, but its just that: speculation.
Comparing it with beta is way off because the beta version is meant for the people playing, I do however see your point that you were trying to make about gamers hoping for a miraculous patch that fixes everything. Ya that doesnt happen. I am on the fence here I dont care either way. When our version gets here, by all means rip it apart if your so inclined. Also remember that not everyone is going to like aion anyways, theres going to be some things that just rub certian gamers bad way. It seemed that there are some concerns brought up by the OP that probably wont be adressed in our version. Thats just his problem and not Aions. Aion will make a good profit here just for the simple reason there is nothing else really worth playing.
Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore) Now Playing: N/A Worst MMO: FFXIV Favorite MMO: FFXI
Things that bother me, no swimming, and factions, not the faction itself but the fact that you cant attack your own people i guess I was really hoping for a more L2 like warfare but these wont stop me from playing the game I really loved playing CN, just trying to restrain myself from further playing until its released.
Nothing annoys me about Aion ... it's visually stunning, is very addictive and is basically the best MMO out on the market... which is why it has 3.5 million subs in Asia.
Once it's released in Europe and America, that number will obviously be a lot more.
I am going to play Aion at release but what makes me hate it right off the bat is the lack of end game. The lack of crafting. The lack of fantasy graphics. Otherwise, Aion is fun and it is probably more fun than any other MMO i've ever played.
You're complaining there's little/no end game already? Do you remember what WoW had as far as raids when it was released? I'm pretty sure you don't, but if you read up on it, there was none! The most end-game that was out was BRD, UBRS, LBRS, Scholo, Strat, and Dire Maul. It wasn't announced until a few weeks into open beta when Onyxia's Lair and Molten Core were released.

After playing WoW for as long as I did, I can safely say Aion looks nothing like WoW.

Sounds like a WoW failboy posting hate.

Where themepark games try to hide that they are copying WOW, games like Mortal Online and Darkfall make no attempt to hide their inspiration

i hope you really aren't, because the chances of anything changing but the text is minimal, it's gonna be a big surprise if the exp curve is adjusted, anything more than that is simply not going to change, therefore i don't think comments like yours have any weight at all, this is like the "it is still beta, on release everything will change!"-comments, and it has never changed, the picture you get from aion at this point is just as good as the one you will get on release.
Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)
Now Playing: N/A
Worst MMO: FFXIV
Favorite MMO: FFXI
I don't hate Aion, but I dislike how it looks a lot like WoW, after watching the gameplay videos on youtube.
But who knows, maybe I can be proven wrong after playing a trial period.
