Trailer is awsome. Hands down one of the best. Also, I'll be one of the first to point out that you cannot judge a game based on a cinimatic trailer. All you can gauge is that the devs are willing to fork out a lot of money to make the game a success.
Still the main issue I see in that trailor is that Jedi >> all. All you see taking out Jedi are other Jedi (sith). The other classes are only killing off random troops (Trash mobs). There isnt any place I see where the bounty hunter kills a jedi.
With the problems of SWG where Jedi >> all ...and the problems that MMO had as a result, I would hope to see some indication that jedi are overpowered gods.
Just some food for thought

People are reading way too much into a cgi trailer. Look at almost all games trailers and you'll find that almost all of them give "false" premises on the game itself. I think people just need to relax and enjoy the trailer/s for what they are, a cool 2 minute show.
I think the video was done that way in order to highlight the lightsaber battles and the overarching conflict of Jedi vs. Sith.
This doesn't mean that Bioware intends to make Jedi/Sith way more powerful than the other classes. I would expect that they will go to great lengths to attempt a balance. Even though you didn't see the bounty hunters fighting Jedis, that doesn't mean that they couldn't hold their own.
Remember Jango Fett vs. Obi Wan? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5jAwXmPRlQ
Like he said.
Blaster versus lightsaber battles are not as nearly as dramatic (cool) as jedi fights plus the symbolic meaning: Extreme good versus the extreme evil.
Please take your pills and don't over-interpret the trailer.

I think that the trailer was designed to differentiate ToR from "modern" Star Wars and give a clear indication what type of "world" we can expect; one where Jedi and Sith were fairly common. I wouldn't take cinematic battles to be representative of game balance, 'cos most of the ones that I've seen show one class owning another in some form; like the Shadow Warrior kicking the b'jeezus out of the marauder in the WAR cinematic.
It's just an "ooh pretty" to build hype, though it is an especially good one.
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift
This definitely makes combat seem to be something it's not in any MMO thus far, except for maybe Mabinogi: Heroes, but we don't get that.
I picked up that the game will be very story-driven (cinematic).
If it puts a stop to grinding and mindless repetitive tasks MMO have become, I would welcome the game with open arms.
Don't hold you breath, the gameplay looks very much like a normal auto-attack situation, although not much is known about quests, I'm guessing that apart from a great storyline and maybe a few cinematics, there won't be anything that special.
Especially since vehicular combat hasn't been talked about at all, except for saying that it's not in at launch.
Have you seen the movies? Jedi >> all is basically accurate.
Will that be how the game plays? Probably not, but that is still what the average person is going to expect to see in a demo.
Interesting point OP. I do feel that it showcases the jedi/sith an awful lot and not so much with the other classes. However, with that said, this game seems to be a tale of jedi vs. sith. I am just glad that they chose a time when a thousand jedi running around actually makes sense unlike SWG. I imagine that there will be a lot of other classes played though because people will be jedi'd out and will want to be something different...at least I will be and therefore don't plan on playing a jedi. As far as the balancing issue, I am sure that jedi/sith will be powerful, but will be balanced in the grand scheme of things.
People want to be Jedi's and Sith. I mean the average dude that thinks about playing a starwars game is thinking about rippin it up with a saber or doing some range business like a bounty hunter. Roleplaying a bar tender of X race on some planet isn't exactly what is going to pull in the masses. Plus the KOTOR series has been all about Jedi.
I don't think it is really easy to "take someone out" who can kill you with their brain. Then again I'd say Jedi would be a lot like spell casters that can wield weapons. They remain lightly armored (if armored at all) and would be very easy to kill IF you can land a shot.
What the trailer does is prepare us for the realities of playing this game: Sith + Jedi = 98% of the playerbase, bunched up in a furious blob of melee combat, with other classes chipping in ineffectively from the sidelines

Good point.
Lightsaber battles. How are they going to manage that in real time in an MMORPG then?

Nothing says irony like spelling ideot wrong.
Would you expect any less from Lucas & Bio?
I get the feeling the game play and story progression may be too slow, but I hope not.

I learned my lesson long ago.. Anybody remember this game trailer?

One of the most badass trailers for a game i have seen and look where it is now
In the old Days Atari used flashy shots on their boxes to attract attention. These days MMO games use CGI trailers Remember the CGI from Diablo games?

I did read in a Bioware interview that lightsaber combat will be very realistic looking, if you miss then your lightsaber will miss your oppoenant in the animation, if you block then both lightsabers will clash, unlike other mmo's where your avatar just goes through its standard animation sequence regardless if they hit, miss or block.
For me the trailer gives us a sneak peak at the type of detail Bioware is going to put into the story.
Both AOC and Warhammer online had cool looking trailers also, but neither of them told a story of any kind.
Those random troops aren't trash mobs. They're actually a player class.
Uhm? What class is that you are referring to? Trooper has heavy armor. Those looked like normal everyday soldier/guards. Not The Republic Trooper.
The Bounty hunter, Jedi, Sith, And smuggler behind the main Sith, were all PCs. The Rest did not seem to be at all.
Is the trailer online? Anyone have a link?
WAR also had a badass trailer. I don't think trailers mean much.

It is just a trailer but what an awesome trailer it is. As always gameplay matters most and Bioware has yet to disappoint in any game they have made. The only ones who keep downing Bioware are the ones who either still want pre-cu swg servers or feel Blizzard is the only ones on earth who can make a good mmo. Honestly people, this is Bioware not some Joe Blow mmo company who think they can make mmos by pulling rabbits out of their hats. Maybe some don't like story driven games but for the rest of us we are going to have an awesome time playing.

Go look at the trooper class reveal trailer on the SW:ToR site. Notice some of the models in the cinematic video are wearing the exact same gear as the concept art. Not everyone wears the same gear all the time. It's role specific.
True, but compmared to the jedi, sith, bountyhunter and smuggler ..would anyone want to play that 'fodder' class? They were dying by the dozens. I still hear all their screams.....their screams.....

People are expecting too much of these trailors. They're all like this. We all know that. So why complain about it other than to just complain?
The trailer does look pretty spectacular, and it does underscore the main emphasis of the game's setting. A time where Force users were at their zenith in population for both sides, and a struggle of massive scope that affected the lives of a whole galaxy. It imparts that feeling pretty clearly.
As far as the trailer being something that imparts a sense of " This is a game where the play is focused on Jedi characters, so you better make one... " I have to agree that a small something is there for those watching it.
There is a bright side though. The Devs have already commented on a pair of things involving Jedi and this game. The first is that the average fan has been exposed to the exploits of Council Member strength Jedi and matching Sith in the movies. They seem unstoppable because they ARE the top bad boys of the Force users.
Jedi and Sith Force users of the MMO will not be as devestating or invincible as the likes we've seen. Player Character Force users will be be more along the lines of the fodder Jedi as witnessed in Episode 2 in the pit fight on Geonisis.
As for non Force using player characters, it's been confirmed that Bounty Hunter PC's will be every bit as badass as Jango Fett. The non Force users *are* HEROES, and were never intended to be second place to the Jedi PC's.
In all fairness, poor Jango was having a really bad day when Mace Windu took his head off. Swap things around where his jet pack hadn't been ruined so quickly and a freakishly strong monster wasn't running him over, and we would have seen a close stalemate between the two. Or at the least Jango could have disengaged safely. And if Jango decided to cheap shot Mace with an ambush paired with a diversion? But I'll digress as I'm getting off topic.
