Depends how they handle the microtransactions and whether you can compete without paying them. If not paying them just turns you into cannon fodder for those who do then I'll lose interest fast but right now I've enjoyed the game a lot and it's probably going to stay on my PC once it goes live unless something drastic changes at release.
lol remember this is IJJI though, one of the biggest abusers of microtransactions, right up there with K2, though not AS bad.
Nexon hosting this game would be nice... or better yet a freaking american company
The game looks great but the game play is lacking (many asians bash this title on there forum boards).
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
The game looks great but the game play is lacking (many asians bash this title on there forum boards).
Then this game has hope, anything the koreans bash MUST be good. Heck they love Lineage 2 and all their games f2p with microtransactions, so that you must pay 2000$ to compete in a free game. Gameplay to them is mindless grinding, the less of that the better, I honestly hope this game BOMBS in Korea and China...
Gave the beta a chance...this game is an easy pass. The gameplay is worthless. RPG elements and such still to come you say? Doesnt change the fact that at its core its a bad FPS.
Going micro is a good move though, will give it a slightly longer life...still gonna be a short one though.

It plays exactly like unreal tourn, so unreal tourn is a bad fps? (or maybe your just bad at quake style fps)
You gave the huxley LITE a chance, which i admit never should have been made. You did not do any real pve or battlegrounds.
Huxley is 100x better than combat arms, crossfire, blackshot, sea,and battlefield heroes. So i think it will be around for awhile.
must be it, you've conviced me this is going to great...
Lets mark this day and revisit Huxelys life prediction a year from the release date eh? =p
Now I could be wrong, sure, hell for the designers sake, I hope I am. However, beta "light" or whatever shows only cause for concern in my opinion. Also I've been reading a lot of posts around the web from people about what they think Huxelys going to be, big open world running around with guns and shooting each other (which it is not)...this is not going to be the game the hype has turned it into, and thats gonna let a lot of people down and dig into its community size.
maybe you just suck at quake style fps, and dont know a bad game when you play one. <---sarcasm

Your right I apologize I should have said "maybe you dont like quake style gameplay"
(alot of cs type people will not play the quake type)
I agree that the hype will not match the game, but the hype came from people looking for planetside 2 which it is not. It is an instanced game sorta like an unreal tourn version of guild wars.
If you take it for what it is, a very well made free fps with great graphics, rpg aspects, skills, crafting, pve, and vehicles. You should not be disapointed. If your looking for an epic huge mmofps you will be. To be honest the people here arent who ijji is looking for they do not want to steal eq, wow, lineage2 people they want to bring in the untapped fps market to an entry lvl mmo.
Nothing will kill huxley in one year. Now if it was p2p by a new company it would go under, its not designed to be that.
Never played an MMO with micro-transactions. Always been subs based. I know it's an open-ended question, but how much do micro-transactions games cost roughly per month? Any examples anyone can give?
well it is hard to answer that cause it all depends on personal preference, and the price of said items. and whether the item is a 1 time use, or mulitple.
Example: Dungeons and dragons online: Unlimited * F2P and in beta*they have a shop there that, you can play the whole game without ever having to buy from it, but they have some nifty items like "adventure packs" where you can unlock new hi level quests and raids.
*all adventure pack prices vary, they don't go any higher then 600 though*
Those are a one time good use item, and will be unlocked forever. The Pack could cost 600 points and you buy a pack of 1000 points for 13.99 * and thats it, so thats $14.00 bucks for content that will last you a while. And this particular pack that i am using as an example gets you 9 hand crafted quests, and 41 wilderness quests.
$14.00 might not seem like a good deal to you but if thats all you buy you end up saving alot of money cause on a normal subscription fee, you would be paying $15.00 a month to access that content when you can just buy it once.
Multiple use would be their exp scrolls, which let you level up faster for 1 hour. You might find yourself addicted to those in the earlier levels, or in the very later levels.Lets say those are 200 points each, you buy a pack of 1000 for, $14.00. Thats 5 scrolls, you decide to use them all on the weekend, they you buy some more the next week for $14.00. You might have saved yourself some time in leveling up your chracter but it just cost you $28.00 to do that, which is almost the cost of a 2 month subscription.
So if your not careful in managing your money you could be spending more then $180 *which is the cost of a 1 year subscription at the price of $15 a month* in less then a year.
This is an awful, awful, awful game. Everything in it is stock Unreal 3 Engine other than textures. The latency is awful because small matches are hosted peer-to-peer, with absolutely little distance calculation, and the lobbies crash all active games when more than 99 people are in them(yet their limit is 200).
I was personally hoping that it would take the Guild Wars route and be B2P, seeing as they are 2 games structured almost identically to each other. I tend to hate these cash shop free MMOs, mainly because the developer has an incentive to make things annoying enough for someone who isn't buying cash shop items to make a purchase. Usually, the main way they do this is through exp gained. The games always end up far too grindy to promote players buying items in the shop that double, triple, etc their exp gained.
I personally adore this game during beta but cash shop will most likely ruin the experience.
Gave the beta a chance...this game is an easy pass. The gameplay is worthless. RPG elements and such still to come you say? Doesnt change the fact that at its core its a bad FPS.

You might say Huxley is 100 times better..Until the hackers show up..All those FPS you mention..Those company cannot control the hackers. And Huxley will be the next target for hackers if not all ready..
Some people rob you at gun point..Others will rob you at "Ball Point Pen"
I don't get what the fuss is about RMT. I've played tons of MMOs with RMTs, they don't always have to be centered around exp gains and usually the only people who are buying the exp gains are people that are extremely high levels and been playing for a really long time. Other RMTs are sometimes just small edges over the free stuff and a lot can just be cosmetic. I mean look at Maple Story damn that game is nuts with deco shop. I mean if you ever seen someone play Maple story you'll see almost half the people with some kind of deco item. And then say like 9Dragons, it's an OK game, not really my favorite, but I've seen people drop like $200! in a month on just getting that extra little edge on leveling and such, but that's when they are like lvl 100ish trying to get to the very last levels. But it's never really a big deal. I've never played an MMO where RMT mattered to a great degree. It's also part of company's understanding that some people will be like those nut jobs that will drop hundreds of dollars in a month because they are addicted to no end and some will not even spend a penny.
Some food for thought, World of Warcraft was originally planned out to be RMT, but they felt that NA people wouldn't be too keen on it while it would work great in Asian countries. So in the end they decided to just make it P2P across the board to avoid lash back from envy or critism from one side being different than the other.
And RMT is usually less of an issue for twitch games. Just like in games like Xsteel, Combat Arms, Drift City or Gunz.. Level gap is a huge deal, but in what game isn't?
The person that said it's more fun than combat arms gives me hope since I enjoy Combat Arms greatly. Can anyone tell me what the world is like? Or is it just a big lobby? Or is it kind of a hybrid?
First, RMT is not that big of a deal. People who say its for "carebears" are just retarded in my opinion.
Second, it plays really well. Its mostly lobbies, but they are large and have plenty of stuff in them. But the PvE is great. My only problem was the "pvp". IM not a big pvp person but i had to try it and it just felt really unfair and not fun. People with snipers just dominating everything while us low lvls had trouble hitting anything.
But all in all it will be worth a try, i mean come on its free (once it finally gets to open beta)
MMO FPS Huxley Goes Free-to-Play During E3 publisher ijji.com has announced that MMOFPS Huxley: The Dystopia has gone free-to-play and will be supported through microtransactions. It was also announced that the planned Xbox 360 version of the game will not be cross-platform with the current PC version. You can pay-to-demo Huxley by trying to get a CD Key through the Fileplanet beta. Looks like the first microtransaction supported title for hardcore gamers.
For it to have gone free to play, it would have had to have been something else beforehand.

I agree. I'm mostly just looking for something that is a pure Gunz replacement. I liked gunz, but I only kept playing because they said they wold bring quests over, then when they did they sucked and I uninstalled, lol.
There is going to be a balance issue of course, otherwise why would anyone want to upgrade? As long as there are separate options for people who can't compete and still have fun then it's good. Plus aren't there maps where sniper rifles don't work well? Like in certain maps COD or most FPS? I mean in Combat Arms I always save money to get a sniper rifle or wait for someone to die with a long range weapon and pick it up, but in a match with plenty of players it's not as easy to snipe since there are more angles to worry about. In 1 on 1 then it's annoying for the person in the sniper's scope, lol.
Not saying Huxley has well balanced maps as I haven't played it, but I'm sure it's a lot different on different maps with different amounts of players.
No one really wants a overly complex game. Then again no one wants a overly simple game. Look at WoW, not a bad game. But it's not a good game either. Half their player bas would know a good game if it came up and asked for a blow job. Back to the subject tho. I really havent played the game so I would'nt know what it like. But if its like Section 8 in any way. Then you might as well throw yourself off a cliff. The one factor that mars a FPS like this is that it is area based. I find those type of games to closed minded and severly lacking content. FPS that are base on nothing but player to player interaction. Should be based in a big sand boy arena of some kind. The days of the virtual lobby is long dead. Time for some new ideas and some new blood in the industry. The old ones are running on empty. Time to take them out to the back of the shed.
i think it's more about lag issues. I would like to play it but something tells me this is going to be like Kart Rider, massively addicting, but will NEVER come out. And they will say it will, but they will probably never bring it. There's a chance that maybe it won't make money on the micro transaction model. I mean if they're forced to make players have pier hosting while dueling, that sends a red flag like they can't make money on this game. Very sad, i'd like to have played this game.
I mean from the videos, the monsters, story, areas (like the ruined subway section), guns that shoot real bullets (oppose to the raver light show that is lasers and big balls of light) I think it would be a blast. I just got finished playing Borderlands and that was very fun. I could see this game feeling the same way even if I soloed the game.
Man, this game sucks fucking donkey sweaty nuttsack just like the rest of the shitty games ive beta tested this year. It amazes me how gamers now a days are so comfortable with such simplistic MMO's now. I don't know weather it's the developers or the gamers themselfs that are completly ignorant/blind to this.
Flame Away FanBois
I don't want to flame, but you should be constructive.
I haven't played the game, however if it's F2P I might as well. Not brilliant at FPS's though. Microtransactions is something I don't mind, as long as you can't buy a win.
yea ijji announced already that it will be F2P. But this isn't the first time they've announced to have a game and even have beta testing going and then have the game go silent and never come out. I really hope this game comes out, but from it's record of being around and lots of testing and development just seems like they may not release the game. I just wish there was more dialogue from the devs.
