Personality test: What role do you play in an MMORPG?

I was bored, and having seen a few threads like this, I have decided to create a mock professional personality test. This test can generalize your internet personality. You see, since no one will really know who you are, people tend to have different personas online then they do in real life. This test can see what your internet personality  could be in general, and through my opinion, what role you may like to play inside an MMORPG. Are you a supportive person that cares for the welfare of a group? Are you an analytical leader? A dictator that pleases his ego by forcing others to do his bidding? Read on if you are interested...

Personality colors: There are four basic colors that can generalize the basis of your personality: green, red, blue, and flexible (all three colors combined). Note that since people's personalities are very different, your personality color does not mean your personality indefinitely follows everything of that color's traits, it just means your personality closely follows that color...

Green: Based on observation and analytic behavior. You like to keep things in order, and are usually principal-based.

Pros: Task oriented, they keep principals and order above many things important. Good at keep a group or themselves pased and on task.

Cons: At their worst, they tend to be very cold and rigid. They consider results more important than a person's feelings, which can lead to problems with how others think of you. They may come to see you as unbending and uncaring if you like results better than people.

Blue: Based on emotions. They are the caring, nurturing part of personality.

Pros: They care for others. They will take steps to help others, sometimes even if their own self is at risk.

Cons: They are usually submissive, and may give in to aggressive people's demands just to avoid violent confrontations.

Red: Based on aggressive behavior. They represent the controlling, self-confident personality traits.

Pros: This is a leader personality color. Leaders have this color, and although people may not like you, they can respect you (think of a drill sergeant). Reds are good at taking action.

Cons: At worst, they can be manipulating and controlling, like a dictator. They can be very confrontational, and although that isn't always necessarily bad, that is a reason why conflicts break out in the first place.

Flexible: Based on, well, flexible behavior. They have multiple traits from all the color personalities.

Pros: This personality works well with all other personalities. They care for others (blue), like to take action for the good (red), and are task oriented (green). This is an excellent group personality, and I like to think of this color as the best of all personality colors of this test.

Cons: Being open to change doesn't mean you can't be inconsistent. While they have all the pros, they also have some of  the cons, and a few special ones for this particular color. This personality especially clashes with people who like to be independent and not work with groups. Also, this personality can trouble people who seek out groups, yet find themselves alone many times.

So, there you have it, the colors of personality. If you are interested in taking the test, please read the following directions:

1. Talk in your post about yourself. It could be anything, even flaming if you so wish. Just say something that could lean me towards an opinion on what your personality is, and what role that could possibly lean you towards doing inside an mmorpg game.

2.I would like to say one thing also before I go on. The colors can mix to form interesting personalities. I will not bore you with more talk on mixed colors such as red-blue, I will determine what your color personality is when I give a response to your results.

3. Do not automatically believe my opinion on your internet personality. Just because you could happen to be green, blue, green-red or whatever doesn't mean your personality is that exactly. You could have a few traits from other personalities that didn't show up enough for the two colors to mix, or you could be holding back (or straight up lying) so I end up misjudging your personality type.

If you are interested, I await your responses if you wish to partake in this test I have prepared for you. Enjoy.

I'm the type that hates starting my own groups. It usually means I'm going to lead which i can do well but prefer not to 99% of the time. I like to have a set role in my group which i can show my superior skills in . That can be anything from puller to crowd controller to healer to anything except tank. I don't like tank roles because it usually goes hand in hand with leading.

I get annoyed with people when they don't perform up to par with my own skill level. For instance i could be a very good crowd controller which enables my groups to perform better than average group but today we are struggling because the healer is an idiot and heals the wrong people or don't heal at all at critical moments..or a tank not taunting or tanking well because he wants to play with his new shiny two handed sword. I will either bully the player into playing the way he should (not always in accordance to my wishes but for the sake of the group) or i will convince the group to boot the person and find a replacement. Sometimes i will simply just leave a group if it consists of too many bad players. I play my classes to the best of my abillity and often become a name people ask for when forming groups because i know what I'm doing. If i don't know how to play a certain class to the best of it's abillity because i find the class hard. I simply avoid it and play a class i can play well. I don't feel a group should suffer for the incompetence of 1.

I don't brag about my accomplishments or the gear i have. I detest raiding because i find the notion of 40 players competing for 3 or 4 pieces of loot retarded. Don't even get me started on the dreaded DKP system guilds like to use.

I treat  a level 1 player the same way i treat a level 100. It's the person behind the computer i adress and not the ingame prestige of levels and gear. I judge people on personality and skill alone. Gear and levels mean nothing

Depending on the circumstances we meet in a game I'm either the nicest guy you have met or the biggest asshole ever

    So what color am i?

I play classes that are most often needed in a group, usually a healer or a tank. I learn an area, dungeon, or quest for my level by joining groups, then form groups to do that content.

I have fun playing the game as long as I'm in a group of 3 or more, and I like full groups, as many as the game will allow in a group. I don't care if in real life you are young or old, a guy or a girl. I don't care if you are proficient with your character, or can barely manage. Just play the game, and be nice, I'll have fun. I'll only kick you out of the group if you are a jerk. Like You deliberately try to get hte party wiped, or continue to do something stupid after being asked not to, or just saying mean things constantly. Otherwise it's all good.

I don't care about loot, don't care about leveling quickly. I just want to get in a group, or start one, and do the content. Doesn't matter to me if I'm doing level 5 content, or level 50.

Silent players in the group puzzle me, but it's quite alright if you don't want to say a word. I've grouped with plenty of players taht never said a single thing, not even hi. They just click "accept" for the group, and they do their role, and then eventually leave the group without saying anything. That's fine, certainly better than jerks.

    Color: Green/Red (Red is dominant)

Role: Analytic Sub-leader (you are not the head leader, but an important leader of a group)

Your color was easy to tell. You like results, and although you hate being the head leader, you definitely like assuming some sort of leadership role. Interestingly, you don't seem to like direct confrontation with others (you hate being a tanker), which is very unusual for a red dominant personality since red seeks confrontation to solving problems (but then again, you are part green, so that could mean you simply seek confrontation in your own way).

Pros: This hybrid personality makes a good leader. You take control of a group who's strengths you know well, and if you can effectively lead them, you would make a decisive and ambitious leader.

Cons: Just beware of being too rigid with your decisions. Show your troops that you do care for them as fellow combatants. People may respect you, but if you show people you care only about results, they may see you as a cold, heartless, and unbending leader, and that can lead to problems with members who care greatly about other's well-being or their feelings. You'll indefinitely clash with blue personalities, who care greatly about people's feelings.

    Imhotepp

    Color: Blue/Green (blue is dominant)

    Role: Group supervisor

Your personality was a bit tricky to analyze. You care greatly about a group's well-being, and you take whatever role to help the group out. You also like to watch over group's progress, and ultimately you help groups out so that they can acheive their goal, as well as your own.

Pros: You can be of great help to holding a group together. Also, typically blue/green personalities not only care for a group's well-being, they also have a strong sense of justice. You hate anyone that tries to take apart a group or hurt anyone in a group in any way, and you remove these people so that others inside a group are not hurt in some way.

Cons: Do not go out of your way to remove any troublesome people on the spot. If you misinterpet a situation and have someone removed, it doesn't look good. Look into any situation carefully, and see if you can resolve a situation peacefully (or at least mutually) to avoid future conflicts first. Red personalities can occasionally clash with this personality, so long as the person is unwilling to negotiate or cooperate.

These are my opinions. They do not reflect your true internet personality, they're only opinions I have from what you have told me. I hope this helps you or at least has interested you.

I would say that's a pretty accurate way to describe my playstyle. Nice work!

I try to always be the leader if Iv already done something once. I try to remember things well my first time around because I hate not being the leader. Even though in games like FFXI that means I have to deal with people ditching and DCing and having to get replacement members I still enjoy it. I get to choose where to camp, what party members and jobs join. I enjoy that control. I would say I am a agressive leader. Usually though my parties end up very smoothly because of it.

    Color: Red

Role: Aggressive, directing leader (anything less will not work)

You pretty much explained your own role. Although you did show a few green traits (you like to be organized with your choices, you analyze a situation to see if it's worth fighting for), you're too overly aggressive and directive to have green as part of your personality. Don't instantly think of this personality as bad and similar to a dictator, this personality simply means you like taking action and directing others for the good and benefit for everyone in the group including yourself like a good leader would (considering you're the pro part, not the con).

Pros: You make the tough decisions, and people look up to you. If you lead them to success, you have shown the traits of a true good leader. Ambitious, you strive to lead your team to greatness, and greatness you will acheive if your group is victorious.

Cons: At the worst, you are exactly like a dictator. Controlling and demanding without caring for what others think of you, this does clash heavily with the blue, submissive personality. But in actuality, blue isn't your ultimate nemesis. Other reds are your true nightmare. If two people seek to be the leader, and they both are ambitious, then watch the egos fly at each other.

That's pretty good. I wouldn't have picked those on my own, but it's probably accurate.

Heh, what an interesting thread this turned out to be. I thank everyone here for participating inside my mock internet personality test. This was actually just a test run. When I created this personality test, I had originally wanted to include a non-conflict and conflict personality evaluation as well. That means that I would have asked you to type about how you normally behave in non-conflict situations (what you typed in your posts is this) and type about how you behave when someone or something opposes you in a confrontation. The true side to personality is that there are two variations, when you are in conflict and when you are not. People can behave differently depending on the situation. For example, you could have someone who is green non-conflict and is an independent fighter, but when directly confronted, they become red, or they seek to dominate over the person or things proving to be a problem. The color's properties change when you evaluate conflict situations, by the way.

I plan to do this in a new mock internet personality test (one that is less wordy, since alot of people probably were interested in the test but didn't want to do alot of reading), but if anyone here wants me to give an evaluation on their personality in conflict, type how you behave when someone or something has a problem with you and confronts you.

    Color: Blue

I'm a leader type person that likes to take on the lead if it means I'll be able to progress faster. My leader personality however is to please everyone as much as I can. That's why I think the groups I lead can never perform as well as they possibly could, but most of the people like my leading because I'm not overly strict. I except the best effort from my members and I get easily upset if they're not performing at their best, however I keep it to myself most of the time.

My biggest con is my naivety. I forgive even the biggest mistakes too easily, and I've never kicked a person from my guild or party. I give "second chances" over and over again. I'm also not the best leader skillwise, but above average. I also prefer to take the safe route although it may not be the best one for the situation. I also think best of everyone, and when they betray me it really gets to me and it may be hard to get over it.

I try to avoid giving criticism as much as I can and I usually end up telling about what I feel in the way of sarcasm. Then I just hope that the person gets the point. I don't like to be straight with people, which is a con.

I put my group ahead of myself especially if we're close friends. Personal gain isn't as important as the guild's success. It's not that I'm not greedy (everyone is a bit!), but to me the guild I've made is the same thing as my own character.

EDIT: Oops, did I misunderstand the point of this thread? sorry if so ;)

Using LOL is like saying "my argument sucks but I still want to disagree".

I would say I am flexible. I like to keep things in order and do things as efficiently as possible. I HATE starting my own groups, I don't know why, I guess I just don't like feeling responsible.

I almost always put other peoples needs before my own (Friends and guild members, pugs I could care less I'll roll need over you A$$ all day). I almost always help people if they give me a friendly whisper even if I don't know them. I find it hard to give constructive criticism to people because I don't want to hurt their feelings or make them think they suck, even if they do. This usually means if I get a really bad pug that wipes every other pull I almost always stick it out. I did a Magisters Terrace once in WoW that lasted hours because the people were friendly but they sucked so bad it was really unbelievable, I wanted to kill myself it eventually got to the point where when I would die I would laugh histerically and I was talking major trash about how bad they sucked to my guild and friends.

I envy my friends for how much of an a$$hole they can be to people without feeling bad about it, I usually think of really sarcastic a$$holeish things to say but I can never get myself to do it ingame and RL. I am a total a$$hole on the inside but I play nice on the outside =/
