The weekend is over.  The "beta" was fun for what it is.  I felt teased, because I didn't get to play the part of the game that retail owners claim as the really fun part, or where the game actually begins.  Oh well.

I hate to tell you this, but the first few levels of Aion is awesome!

Once you get into the late teens and early 20s in level, you start slowing down really really fast. By level 30 it is a crawl. And, you'll have to grind, grind like mad.

It is not a pretty sight, however, in the late 30s, the game becomes very fun and you can PvP and stuff. it is a great game, I love it, if you don't mind grinding, this is the game for you.

I was expecting an experience similar to Lineage2, minus the dreadful grinding to level. I was pleased by what I saw overall.

Of course, if you never played L2 to begin with, you have no idea what grinding for level really means. Sort of like the poster above me.

I tend to agree with the OP, if you were a mage the beta was a cake walk.  Other classes take stigmas and blue gear to really shine like mages.

I'm hoping the next set of "focused" testing isn't just testing asmo 1-20 quests (since most are basically mirrors with a jadded twist to them, and somewhat similar map layout but different skins like the graveyard setting etc) Rather, I'd like to see an Abyss focus test giving you post 20 chars to play and pvpve with.

Yeah, just logged off.  The thing about the grind is, the game is such a joy to play, that I have to remind myself that's what it is.  I enjoyed the two days of fun.

    One caveate:  SCREW GAME GUARD!!!

I have had minimal trouble on Gameguard, still it is a very big complication. People are going to be complaing. I hope they fix it. It is Aion's very problem, otherwise, great game.

yep, its sad that the whole thing is a tease, and even if you have pre ordered you won't get another taste of it for a few weeks, and its release isn't till... septemper i think.  so now we all drool over our lack of Aion.  managed to get a gladi up to 10 to play around for a few hours.  they seemed a lot more fun than my chanter, even though I destroyed them (and everyone else) 1v1.
