OMG F*** PROVIEW DIGITAL

nakumanakuma Member UncommonPosts: 1,310

oh man, proview digital can eat a fat, greasy cow turd i swear, my 22" LCD proview monitor went out, after barely 2 years basically the monitor when i started my pc would turn white, i come to find out this is due the logic board on the monitor crapping out. The lady said there is a 1 year warranty, and I would have to pay $120 labor fee + the shipping to california lol. Most monitor companies have 3 year warranties lol. I ask that everyone avoid proview like the plague, their products are crummy and unreliable, and the 1 year warranty is absolutely horrendous. I barely had that monitor for 2 years. im absolutely stunned.

anyways now that i have vented, anyone got any recommendations on a good monitor, im willing to spend around $300-400+/- for a good monitor. so throw me some ideas. thanx.

Samsung (i have the Syncmaster 220W) or any Hanns-G monitor. I found both of these to be the best and most reliable around, and i tried a bunch

Acer 223w. I've got two of 'em rigged up and I'm happy with 'em. They might not have the best contrast ratio, but the refresh rate and response times are just fine. To top it off, you can find them for under $200 if you look around (eBay specifically).

    Good luck man.

    Dude,

Thats what you get when you buy cheap, no-name hardware!

Buy a DELL monitor and let them worry about any problem you might have.

Viewsonic is good, you can start here with them, good unit, easy going price.

I have a 17" crt here that I have had for14 years and no problems.

I have two Samsung monitors, one for me and one for the wife...my wife's went out after a little over a year, Samsung shipped a replacement to the nearest UPS store. All we had to do was take the bad one to the store and pick up the new one, UPS even boxes up the old one and ships it back to Samsung.

All it took was one simple phone call to Samsung (call center was in Dallas) to arrange it and they do this for three years after purchase.

Heh, my buddy bought a Dell monitor and it had a special effect where smoke billows up behind it and it goes up in flames, the replacement worked long enough to get it out of warranty now it has really strange issues when it does work. Gotta judge each part on its merit cuz apparently that was a really common prob with that monitor.
