i currently have a 19 inch ws moniter and have got a new montor coming a 24 inch . i was wondering what kind of performance hit i will take with the higher resolution since i would be going from 1440 x 900 to 1920 x 1020 .thanks
Your graphics card will determine any degradation in 'performance'. At least as long as you purchased a similar or better quality monitor than the one you are moving from.

The performance hit will be fairly significant. I'm just making this number up from experience, but don't be surprised if you lose 30% performance in a number of games. Of course, like the last poster, I agree that your video card is going to play a very important role.
I have a 1920 * 1200 screen and in It does take a very powerful graphics card or 2 medium cards on sli to run most games at high detail and full resolution. I"m using 2 9800gtx+ 1gb cards and I can max everything and get 60 fps. (halo gets 30). With only one of those cards turned on, I can only get about 40 fps, dipping into 20 at times.
