If you got any important files you can get the data extracted by an IT specialist.

Does it do anything? Does is spin up? If it doesn't spin up try firmly tapping the case near the axle of the drive while it is plugged in.  If that does nothing try this. Get a plastic bag, put the drive in the bag. Draw as much of the air out of the bag as you can in order to reduce any condensation in the bag and close it up. Put the bagged drive in the freezer for a few hours. Take the drive out and immediately plug it in. Does it spin up now?

It is also possible the electronics have failed and replacing the pcb board with one from a known working drive of the same type may revive it. But I wouldn't try that on my own. That's something for an experienced electronics tech to do.

In both instances if it does now spin up, be ready to transfer as much of the data you want off of the disk immediately. Hard drives are fairly cheap. Trying to keep a balky one going will probably end up in total data loss.

Thanks - yea the drive does infact spin, but gives the boot error and is not visible as a drive when plugged into a USB adapter.
