Anyone here live in or around Columbia, Missouri?

Due to the fact that there is no damn work here in California, I will be moving to Columbia, MO where some of my family lives. The nice part is I already have work lined up through them when I get there.

The problem is, I have no damn clue about Missouri as a whole, much less the little town of Columbia ( roughly 30 miles outside Jefferson City ). I'm a born and raised Californian.

So, besides boredom, what should I expect?

... Columbia, MO... little?  Well, I guess to a Californian who lives in the main cities there it would be tiny.  I live in a little town in MO about...oh... 1.5 hours West of Columbia.  I consider Columbia fairly big... but that's cause my little town is like only 3,500 people.

What you can expect to see in MO.

    1. Lots of livestock in the country... especially cows.
    2. Lots of college students in Columbia.
    3. Lots of coverage of the MU Tigers in the local media there (Columbia and much of MO is fanatical about the Tigers).
    4. And, I've heard there's some pretty good country scenery around there... if you're into that sort of thing.

That's pretty much MO for you....

Okay, how old is too old for "cow tipping"?

    College girls are a bonus.

Sports don't interest me, but I can fake it for the aforementioned college girls.

Country scenery sounds nice. I did kind of expect that to be a given, though.

I'm looking forward to the move a bit, as I am pretty tired of having to put up with alot of the "phony" crap here in Cali.

I'm just wondering what people do for fun around that part of MO? Outside of the sport fanaticism, of course.

I mean, I'm not the "get drunk 'til I pass out and call it fun" kind of guy. And I can handle slow, but watching paint dry doesn't thrill me either.

    Now for the important question.

What internet service options are there available in that area?
