EU cost rises by £500m

I found this brief article in a local newspaer and thought this may generate some interest here have fun debating this.

Britains payments to Brussels have rocketed by more than £500 MILLION a year. New figres reveal we handed over £16.3 BILLION last year - £537million more than last year. That means Britains direct payments to the EU are now a whopping £45 million a day and cost every British family £670 a year. The figres, quietly published by the Office Of National Statistics, also show we got just £9.8 billion back in grants. So for every pound we pay to the EU we get back 60p.

Britain is the fourth biggest contributor to the EU's swollen coffers and Matthew Elliot of the Taxpayer's Alliance said: "its costing taxpayers more than ever". "We are paying record ammounts to Brussels, and even the limited ammount that they hand back to us in grants is wasted on propoganda and barmy projects". "This money belongs to British Taxpayers and hard-working families here need it to get through the ressecion. People are sick of the corrupt EU machine swallowing so much of our hard earned cash."

Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981

I am reminded of a quote by Lando Calrissian: "This deal is getting worse all the time."

Classic example of transfer of wealth.  Socialism at its finest.  It's easy to understand why Daniel Hannan called out PM Brown and why his tongue lashing is such a popular Youtube video.

you can divide and conquer, but you can unite and rule.

If I were a Brit, I would certainly feel I was getting the short end of the stick.

    Bah £670.

That's the new gun I want but can't afford to buy myself this year.

That's the new set of widescreen monitors I want but can't afford to buy myself this year.

That's my air fair to Kobe that I won't be taking this week.

I've had about as much of the EU as I ever want to already. Not that what I think makes any difference unfortunately, but er.. I'm about ready for atomic weapons over Europe. Seems some jumped up little men have overstepped the mark again and refuse to be stopped by any reasonable means.

Time for them to re-connect with "their public".
