Did you really, honestly put your son through that? In all seriousness, if you couldn't get pass the requirements for receiving his lunch, do you have any kind of idea what kind of forms you're going to be signing for say, PE? And you might aswell forget about little league anything; proof of insurance and medical releases. And steer clear of that height requirement per ride thing if ever you're taking him to Six Flags. In all seriousness, you can't be serious. If you got far enough to get his student ID, then you had long since handed over his social security, birth certificate and etc. to affirm his identity and age.
yeah i guess i should just accept their tyranny and not question it. reminds me of Obama's healthcare plan. dont read it, just accept it we're told.
This is a slippery slope we're heading down.
Are you all aware that our science czar has written a book where he advocated the goverment taking your children at birth to raise them ??? This stuff isnt something Im making up as crazy as it sounds. These people believe the state should raise our kids. This is a policy theyre working on.
They want kids to look at the goverment, teachers, public officials, etc as their parental figures. To do this theyre breaking up th traditional family.
If we dont stand up and demand our govt stop trampling over the constitution it will soon be too late.
and theyre working on taking our right to home-school our children too. google california.
fingerprint scans and id cards is only the beginning. I say enough
I've seen some people segue utterly nothing into delusional scenarios of an impending Obama dictatorship. It happens daily actually. I've never seen anyone exaggerate such a silly issue as this one and actually try and draw parallels.
Tell me, what ills did you turn up about fingerprinted children in the same kind of delicate research you did towards it that you did towards healthcare?
Like honestly, what is "the dark side", having to recite your ID number in lunch lines instead of being able to use your ID card or finger if you don't have that? Get real.
But yes, tell your kid what you wish. That if he was fingerprinted and without an odd tale in lunch lines as to why he's reciting/keying memorized numbers instead of using an ID card or his finger, that it's because he's exempted himself from the science czar. Why the science czar is dependent upon fingerprints instead of things you've already forked like SSN and photo reference I don't know. 'less you're in the business of forgery and plan to protest any class photos as well.
P.S. You can send him to a private school, or even home school him. Why don't you if you're that worried? What the government "wants" is solved as easy as that for you. Oh I forgot, capitalism and private property are a thing of the past. All private schools and homes are publicly owned. You're right.
Developing a system where a kid can buy his lunch no matter what he forgets is tyranny? This is the most ridiculous discussion I have ever read.
whats ridiculous is nobody reads or follows the constitution anymore.
My son is forced to attend a school system under the control of the dept of education. the education of my children fall under the state and local communities, not a federal agency. The constitution does NOT grant the federal govt the power to regulate education.
So for my son to be forced to read federal govt approved textbooks when it lacks the authority is ridiculous. And I have to work to pay rent taxes (property) on my home that my family has owned for 120 years or I would stay at home and teach him.
And if I dont send him to this brainwash factory that teaches him how to manage his credit rating, gives military recruiters access to him and his personal info, and forces him to take vaccines, teach him false history, etc i could go to jail for it.
and now they want his fingerprint. privacy doesnt matter anymore apparently.

You do realize that once something is in public records it's there for good. And guess what that fingerprint database is a public record until a law or court case says otherwise.
public records laws are SOO messed up that there is even a large court case going on in Wisconsin right now about whether or not parents have the right to request a teacher's e-mail history. As a matter of fact it will be going to the Wisconsin supreme court in a matter of weeks.
My 5 year old son's fingerprints and photo are already on file with the police as part of a child identification safety program. I update them annually. I have no problem with this. If something happens to my son, such as a wacko kidnapping him, this is vital information for the police to have.

Then send him to a private school of your choice or homeschool him. STOP complaining if you can't afford to or don't want to pony up the money to do otherwise. He isn't FORCED to be subjected to whatever you deem bad for him, you made the DECISION to enroll him into public school. Be sure to explain that to him as well when you're done explaining how public school will ruin (or take) his life; that it was your decision.

And how does this "appeal to ridicule" disprove what I said? It doesn't.
Fingerprints can be used to track and monitor people, which is why, historically, people who used to believe in freedom would only allow convicted felons to be fingerprinted.
Once again we see how creepy the people on this site can be. Such conformity is amazing from people who consider themselves even slightly informed.
How do these childish attempts at ridicule refute anything being said? They don't. they are simply people using personal attacks instead of reason. This is the sad effect of socialist schooling. People do not even know what makes an argument valid or rational and feel it is okay in discourse to simply attack the person putting forth an argument.
This kind of stuf should be taught to every child. As we can see, they can't even enter reasonable discussion because they do not know what reasonable discussion is.

Fisher, the thing is, no one is trying to argue anything with you so far in this thread. Chill out.
Hate to burst everyones bubble who thinks that because your child's fingerprints are taken by the school that Big Brother is going to get you... if they truly wanted to find you they would even without your fingerprints... Reality check for all you paranoid folks out there I doubt our government or any other could give two figs about you or your kids so get off your high horses; and if they do then they will probably know whats better for you and your family anyways.

I am chill, Tone is a hard thing to discern on the internet. I'm relaxed and enjoying myself. That has nothing to do with anything,
I merely do not believe it is appropriate for people to declare other people as mentally ill on a public forum. I feel it is bad form to ridicule and personally attack people. I was raised, and educated, to treat people with respect and if I disagree, disagree with their argument, and refrain from attacking them.
These are basic, level 101 fallacies here that people are using.
Again, I hardly blame them since most of them are quite young. I blame the socialist education system that created such poor untrained minds.

Wow you got some serious property taxes where you live my man, cause if that was all I had to pay then I could bang out my taxes in two weeks. Heck give me two months and my bills would be covered for the year!!!
I am curious... was it Uncle Sams idea for you to have child? If not then where did you expect that he/she would be educated? Who did you expect would be responsible for oversight of said educational facility? Force him to take vaccines? Teach false history? You could go to jail- you mean for teaching him false history? Do explain as I am truly interested.
You do know that if you were home schooling then you could actually work it around your current work schedule. Have you looked into private education as someone else has mentioned? It seems to me like you are just pushing to have something to complain about, but I could be wrong.
edit: You do know that our founding fathers wrote the Consitution as a guide for this country and that it was intended to be a living document?!? I am sure that you know that, but was just wondering as an after-thought.

Prove, by showing the writings of James Madison and the other founders, that the constitution was intended to be a "living document."
i think your just a little bit paranoid..its just school, not a nazi death camp
Yes, exactly. It's just school. So why treat him like he's being booked for a felony?
Got to get him into the system while he is young before he starts commiting crime; then when he does Bam! "We" know just who you are. When do you guys think they'll start taking DNA samples? Got to get that DNA profile into the system.
I am not sure what someone being booked for a felony looks like, but I am certain that it is a tad bit different (no police booking room, no handcuffs, no OCS residue or no taser prongs to remove) then the school photo and print, a misdemeanor maybe - a felony I tend to doubt.

How about Alex Hamilton's closing essay in the Federalist where he states that...
It appears to me susceptible of absolute demonstration, that it will be far more easy to obtain subsequent than previous amendments to the Constitution. The moment an alteration is made in the present plan, it becomes, to the purpose of adoption, a new one, and must undergo a new decision of each State. To its complete establishment throughout the Union, it will therefore require the concurrence of thirteen States. If, on the contrary, the Constitution proposed should once be ratified by all the States as it stands, alterations in it may at any time be effected by nine States. Here, then, the chances are as thirteen to nine2 in favor of subsequent amendment, rather than of the original adoption of an entire system.
This is not all. Every Constitution for the United States must inevitably consist of a great variety of particulars, in which thirteen independent States are to be accommodated in their interests or opinions of interest. We may of course expect to see, in any body of men charged with its original formation, very different combinations of the parts upon different points. Many of those who form a majority on one question, may become the minority on a second, and an association dissimilar to either may constitute the majority on a third. Hence the necessity of moulding and arranging all the particulars which are to compose the whole, in such a manner as to satisfy all the parties to the compact; and hence, also, an immense multiplication of difficulties and casualties in obtaining the collective assent to a final act. The degree of that multiplication must evidently be in a ratio to the number of particulars and the number of parties.
But every amendment to the Constitution, if once established, would be a single proposition, and might be brought forward singly. There would then be no necessity for management or compromise, in relation to any other point -- no giving nor taking. The will of the requisite number would at once bring the matter to a decisive issue. And consequently, whenever nine, or rather ten States, were united in the desire of a particular amendment, that amendment must infallibly take place. There can, therefore, be no comparison between the facility of affecting an amendment, and that of establishing in the first instance a complete Constitution.
I can share with you an additional 27 facts that prove that it is...

This proves that it is not a living document, but must be CHANGED through amendment, which is a difficult process.
Sorry, that one fails.
EDIT: here is the discussion at wikipedia, and we can see it is far from a settled doctrine, and actually doesn't gets started until the 1920s.
Your attitude is one as if it was an obvious thng that everyone would know, as evidenced by your "I'm sure you know that..."
That displays once again you asserting a blatant falsehood. Things that are so contentious should not be treated as obvious facts. Obviously you were being deliberately misleading there.
Either way, nowhere in the constitution, whether you view it as living or static (or even if you view it as both), is there an implication that all US citzens can be forced to register wuth the government as children or that the government is allowed to keep databases of innocent citizens. That breaks original intent and all tradition within our history.
Slowly you americans will grow afraid of your own shadow. The Patriot Act, which violates the basic rules set down in your constitution was just the beginning. You americans is in need of a good old revolution soon it seems
Damn OP thats crazy. Back in my day, we had only 1 security guard and he sat out in the parking lot smoking cigarettes all day.
We didn't have a baby daycare center and there was no police officers present at my school the 4 years I went there. The craziest thing that happened was someone got expelled for having a samurai sword in their trunk(that was bent and you couldn't remove it from the casing.)
Its like after I graduated high school all the upcoming parents went cool and let their teenagers go thug gangsta and run their houses. There are good parents who are doing the right parenting thing but it seems like all the cool parents are outnumbering them more each year. Now I hear on the local radio station a plead for parents not to host adult alcohol parties for their kids. What happened to parents actually doing parenting? Seems like personal responsibility is being deflected on everything except the person who is messing up with any excuse out there, even blaming the family pet. I guess people are just too busy today with their personal lives to have anything responsible to do with their children so its up to school, local law enforcement, TV, video games, and my taxes to try to properly raise their kids.
Sorry for the rant.
Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL!
I never had to deal with security in my school. We registered at the main office. Listing our name, address and someone to call if there was a emergency. Thats was the entire enrollment process. We had a security guard but he was there to catch the druggies. That was more to appease local government. Once I got to highschool they gave us cards which we signed so they could track our library activities , grades and they were used to give access to special events. Mostly for statistical analysis over which activities the kids used most. We all had access to the data though so it was cool. Then I was homeschooled and thats totally free of any incursions. Gota love rural america. Still damned free.

The most ironic thing about the Patriot Act is the vast majority of these "the government is out to get us" types were the very same people who were all for the Patriot Act to "root out the evildoers" and welcomed it with open arms. Only the liberals and some libertarian types were upset back then when the Patriot Act was proposed and enacted. (especially to the library records clauses)
The Patriot Act passed extremely easily (no one dare would have opposed it back then as a politician because that was "unamerican") and you saw no Townyellers screaming about facism, socialism, and the government taking "taking away rights" during that time because it was Bush and Cheney scaring people.
Now those same morons are yelling that because the healthcare that would benefit the majority of them is from Obama, NOW the country is headed to Stalinism, lol. They come up with these theories so often its hard to keep up with the next conspiracy. FEMA camps, death camps, microchips.
If these people weren't so deluded, it would be funny. But considering if they actually represent (what they claim) is a large segment of the population, I wouldn't think whereever you are from in the world that this would be so funny to you. These people were trying to get someone like Sarah Palin to be one step away from controlling the world's most dangerous military machine. A religious whacko.
Toss a frog into a pot of boiling water and it'll jump out.
Toss a frog into a pot of cool water and slowly bring it to a boil, and well... you've got the future of America (and frog stew). Because I mean, the difference between a debit card and a micro chip implant isn't that huge, am I right?
if we wont turn to the dark side, perhaps our kids will Im reminded of that line from episode 6 Star Wars - Return of the Jedi. I just went to register my son for school today and I was sickened by what we went through. First station, picture for his school ID card. I asked why does my son need an ID card for ? They said to use to identify him for things like access to his lunch account. The next station was a fingerprint scanning device. I asked what was the purpose of that. The answer was in case the student loses his ID card. Plus its just easier to use than a card. I refused to let my son get his finger scanned. They asked if my refusal was for religious reasons. I said no, I object because my son has a right to privacy guaranteed under the Constitution. They looked at me like I was insane. One of them even said something to the effect that I must be one of those Ron Paul suppporters. I had no choice but to say it was for religious reasons as there was no other option to allow me to refuse. I guess freedom from tyranny isnt a valid excuse. I was outraged. This is how the elite plan on winning this war against our freedoms. They know my generation wont accept national ID cards and fingerprint scans but my son's generation will. Theyre growing up with it and think its perfectly normal. I explained to my son in front of those school administrators that when I was in high school (1984 - 88) we didnt carry ID cards and the school worked just fine. We didnt get our fingers scanned just so we could eat lunch or check out a book and the system didnt collapse because of it. This is a complete invasion of your privacy. The school has no right, nor does the goverment to require you to carry any form of indentification. These institutions are just supposed to guard those freedoms and educate you, thats it. I was about to mention how this is a plan by the banking elite to get us to accept a cashless system so they can control the planet much easier but I could see I was wasting my words on these brainwashed idiots. Whats waiting for my daughter when its time to enroll her ? chips implanted into her arm ? a background check ? maybe they want to do a credit check also ? how about pre-enrollment for mandatory military service ? Its a sad day when kids cant eat food without getting their finger scanned.
What privacy is being invaded?
Your kid is not anonymous at school, every one knows who he is.
How does scanning his finger to pay for lunch invade his privacy?
What actual harm does this cause?
Are you worried that if later he commits a murder his prints will be in file or something?
Is that really a valid concern for "privacy"?
If not, then again, where's the invasion?
I don't think "privacy" means we are have the right to be anonymous and not be identified, especially when purchasing something on credit.

You're right.
whats ridiculous is nobody reads or follows the constitution anymore.

It will also be vital for them to have should some future Nancy Pelosi declare his dissent as "un-American" and his behavior aa threat to democracy and he needs to be found, tasered and locked up in a re-education center.

Shit... were screwed.
after 6 or so years, I had to change it a little...

Four legs good, two legs bad.

I think this 3 minute video clip of George Carlin pretty much sums up whats going on in the United States and the world today
warning: it contains strong language prolly not intended for children

How do these childish attempts at ridicule refute anything being said? They don't. they are simply people using personal attacks instead of reason. This is the sad effect of socialist schooling. People do not even know what makes an argument valid or rational and feel it is okay in discourse to simply attack the person putting forth an argument.
This kind of stuf should be taught to every child. As we can see, they can't even enter reasonable discussion because they do not know what reasonable discussion is.
It is so very sad.

Fisher, the thing is, no one is trying to argue anything with you so far in this thread. Chill out.

Yes, exactly. It's just school. So why treat him like he's being booked for a felony?

Prove, by showing the writings of James Madison and the other founders, that the constitution was intended to be a "living document."

Grammar nazi's. This one is for you.
Pure brainwashing there. It's sad when an individual believes the government knows what is best for you.
"TO MICHAEL!"
Right?
What privacy is being invaded?
Your kid is not anonymous at school, every one knows who he is.
How does scanning his finger to pay for lunch invade his privacy?
What actual harm does this cause?
Are you worried that if later he commits a murder his prints will be in file or something?
Is that really a valid concern for "privacy"?
If not, then again, where's the invasion?
I don't think "privacy" means we are have the right to be anonymous and not be identified, especially when purchasing something on credit.
