Need a little tech help

CoolaidCoolaid Member UncommonPosts: 70

The last beta weekend I got very little lag running around but would often get delays in using spells or picking up items.  Some times I would attack a mob and nothing would happen for about 20 seconds, then all the hits would spam the screen and one of would be dead.  Is anyone else getting this? Does anyone have any suggestions how to fix this or is it just the beta?

Thanks.

I'm running a Dual Core intel 3+ghtz , 2GRAM , Geforce 9600  512  I'm not at home so I cant tell exactly what the processor is. I didn't change the settings so they are the same as when i installed the game.

You should be able to play without any problems.

And your internet connection speed ?

Are you the only one using your internet connection? (if not is anyone else downloading, torrents can eat up all your bandwith).

Are you downloading anything while you play ?

Its a known issue from CB5, everyone is calling it "rubberbanding" there is alot of other people experiencing the same problem, so on the aion official forums that are only open during the beta there is a few massive threads about what everyone was trying to fix it.  There was one guy on the forum that called customer service with ncsoft and they basically just told him they are trying to improve thier bandwidth because between people downloading the game and playing the servers are just getting overwhelmed, he posted his whole conversation with the representitive. Also there where some people that where having similar issues and are blaming it on keyboards and various hardware.

The thing about whats happening is, when i do lag for those 20 secs or so, my pc is not lagging at all I am still able to run around smoothly, its only abilities and npc's that will not work until the "rubberband" snaps back.  Also I have comcast also and if you run a tracert you'll see that it will time out when it gets to ncsoft, showing that the problem is not on the players end( the larger percentage anyhow)

Next time it seems to lag, run www.speedtest.net and make sure your connection is stable. Just because you pay for 6 GB/s doesn't mean you are getting it.

No.  It was server side.  They were stressing the servers on purpose during beta and there were periods where a lot of other people experienced this too.

They need to know how far they can push their servers to make a more stable experience during launch.

My experience in the last beta was a horrible 2-3 hours when it opened, and seamless after that, with just an occasional rubber banding. I have decent computer horsepower, and the game picks mid to upper settings.
