Game not responding when you launch
Just checking if everyone is having the same issue. When I press "Launch Game" it will bring up the GameGuard updater then start the game. NCSOFT logo appears but just hangs there forever. CTL+ALT+DEL and it says Aion is not responding. I understand you cannot log on until Sep. 6th.
You all getting this too?

I didn't think to try and launch the game since OB doens't start until the 6th as you noted.
It maybe be working as designed, though when I tried the same thing back in CB I recall receiving a message stating the account was not in a beta at the present time, and I was able to back out gracefully. (It didn't hang up like you experienced)

Actually the game hangs up a bit at the logo, but after about 30 seconds or so it'll move on.

Ya it has always been long to boot for me too. No worries.
have you updated to 1.5? you should be able to get to the game login screen but not log in

Sounds like Gamguard reacting to your Anti-Virus.
If you have Avira or AVG, you should find another one. If you have Norton 360, it will scan gamguard while gamguard is scanning it and takes awhile...
I recommend NOD32.
Edit: Apparently gamguard even has issues with NOD32's Stealth Defense system.

After 5 attempts to download the client and seeing only getting to 38 % in two days I got tired of waiting is there one that is faster? I would like to take advantage of the beta since I pre orded. Thanks

It always does that, it's just loading the 3d engine.
Just let it load, because that is normal.

Is it actually an open beta or do you have to pre-order / win a contest to get a code?
I have AVG and i was able to play the CB w/o a problem. Also i started up Aion just a few min ago, went to log in screen, told me authorization server was down and it shut down game. However on the launcher it then said update ready and now the game is updating to version 1.5
Today they're patching 1.5.0.1
Game Servers won't be open until ...like this Sunday for the open beta.

Avira on 2 no issues.
How long does it take to aprox. finish downloading so I can see login screen? I just started again for the 6 time I hope I can be patient this time.

It's inbetween a natural process of uploading the engine and YES YOUR ANITVIRUS WILL STILL ACT TOWARD YOU GAMEGUARD EVEN IF IT HAS NO PROBLEMS. I'm surprise the majority of you all don't notice this, but all your internet security can do is put the program into a low restricted file. Meaning every time you do launch such program It still will give it a good check. This of course should not affect the actually game, just GameGuard. Very minimal, a blink of an eye at best.

File Planet is pretty fast
Glad to hear. I know it has been a large issue with Gamguard in the past. Maybe they've finally patched the major issue between these two.
I definitely know Aion has large issues with Avira. I had a system with Avira on it myself and it refused to get past the splash until I uninstalled Avira.

I have had the same exact problem OP and I am fairly certain it is not normal...
I was able to play the game in the first 3 weekend beta phases. After one of their patches, it will no longer load from Vista. I click on launch and it just hangs there. After a couple of minutes, I am not even able to open the task manager. My ENTIRE system seems to freeze. I have contacted NCSoft about this and did not receive a response.
The problem seems to be Visa-specific. I am dual-booting Vista Ultimate as well as XP Pro and I am still able to run the game just fine from the XP partition.
