Hmm, assuming you did not hack GG or try to get around it. I am not sure what is the actual problem, someone also crash in character creation, but I didn't. My friend who is playing on my account atm also are doing just fine and he spent like 30 mins in character create.
no sollution here but i have the same problem i quicked thru the character creator and made a toon but i can only play for about 2 min before gameguard kicks me out with the same msg they havent responded to the posts on the beta board about it yet
If you have a software firewall or an antivirus with network threat protection, you're probably going to need to create permissions for both Aion and the GG executables.
GG is extremely restrictive, it even has problems with some browsers.
A game forcing you to remove your firewall is completely unacceptable - and Comodo is a fairly popular one to boot.
So far I've done everything I could think of to avoid the GameGuard shutting down the game before I barely made it to the character creation screen - excluded the game folder from my antivirus software (Nod32), set GameGuard and the game client (which appears to be the aion.bin file) as trusted applications, and finally, which I had thought should surely work, disable Defense+ in Comodo - but to no avail.
I was sort of planning on possibly playing both Champions Online and Aion in the coming months - Aion only based on what I've heard though, as I obviously haven't had a chance to actually try it myself - but unless this GameGuard issue is fixed (and asking customers to uninstall their firewall, or change to a different one, isn't a fix) it looks like it's just going to be Champions Online for me.
And perhaps it's time to end my AoC break if I need a fantasy MMO fix.

I am sure the Commodo thing will be solved. It is FIRST day of Open Beta. Do not sweat over the small stuff.
well that's a bit drastic really as this is the beta and supposed to find those problems. But Im having the same problems with outpost firewall, have also tried windows firewall but that's didn't help ether Im not going to use no fire wall coz that's stupid there must be a fix somewhere.. just waiting to find an answer.. hope I find 1 soon Thx feak
It doesn't help that I'm unable to register at the official forums (I think someone mentioned that in another thread here as well?), so I can't even report the issue.
Well, I guess I'll just have to give both game and forum a try again later and hope for the best.
There are reports of people already using bots in the open beta, so that shows how usefull Gameguard is. It is totally useless and it beggers believe how a game company can justify using it. Never seen security software that is so easy to bypass. The only thing it's good for is screwing legitimate users over.

Those people removed/disabled/bypassed Gameguard. Of coures it is useless when something is is not active, and they removed it because it got in the way of botting.
Plenty of hackers already taught the masses how to remove or work around Gameguard. Hackers are always one step ahead, if any other MMORPG use a software that get in the way of botting, they would attempt to remove it. Why is this such a shock to people I don't understand.
I am going to turn off my computer and surf the web now, how do I do that with it off you ask? I don't know, aparently if something is turned off, it is still suppose to work.

Hu? Way to totally miss the point. Ofcourse Gameguard doesn't work if they disabled it, that's the point, to make it NOT work so that they can hack and bot in Aion as freely as they want...
Gameguard is totally useless because it is so easy to bypass. It provides 0 security for Aion in the west. Aion is losing money not only because it's paying to use GG, but also because legitimate users get put off by it, it just screems of unprofessional development and shabby business model. Heck, you only have to look at the 70+ pages about GG thread on Aion source to see what people think of it.
When a security program is as easy to bypass as typing "how to disable Gameguard" on google, then that program has problems.

I use version 1.5.0.3
