AION: Not that great
Same old stuff, no real depth of character or anything like that. Very WoW like but seem to pull it off worse with clumsier controls. Graphics are really nice. Good graphics.
The one thing I could see being a major problem is the attacking "feature". On my warrior if you click attack it will autofollow/attack at the same time. How could this be good for PVP or inject any skill into it what so ever? Ugh.
Does it feel like they've been in release for a whole year? No.
Same old boring quests. Would I pay 50$ for release and a monthly when I can just stay subbed to another game? NO. NO WAY IN HELL.
I mean good attempt, just...no. This style of play just turns into every other style of korean gameplay. 1. Have better gear and have spells queued up in the right order. Roast someone. Rinse and repeat. Just the fact that the game doesn't have a free movement system for pvp really douches it up.
I dunno, I won't be wasting my money on this. You can call me a troll or whatever you'd like but I saw the PVP videos and everything...no.
Some people will like it, probably the PVE gang.

I don't play WoW, and haven't for over a year. However, I always absolutely adore this sentiment. Sure I remember trade chat and city channels being pretty damned obnoxious, but thank god I could just turn them off (or use chat addons that filter specific stupidity you specify from what I hear these days). That said, in the years I played WoW, I was in 3 great guilds on 3 different servers, and still have nothing but fond memories from them, and the people I played with. To date I've not found communities that great in other games.
People who wander through the game lonely, only seeing general chat are bound to hold a bad impression. The rest of us, however, have a different one.
And BTW, for those of us NOT in the "OB" right now and on the fence would love to see more of these opinions, agree or disagree. Don't bash the OP because of your own bias. State your opinions, backed with facts.

Going melee makes my character auto follow? jesus dude most people blasted WAR for having auto facing.

When you go into combat mode your character actually follows the mob or player? sounds like guildwars to me. Fine for a 5 year old game but not a game that came out in 2009.
Say what you want about wow but its combat system is freaking awesome, I can't stand the game due to simplicity but the combat system is golden.
Im sorry but anygame claiming it can take down WoW needs to be totally polished with a combat system that destroys WoW and autorun to target is lame and will turn a ton of players off just like autofacing in WAR did.

To clarify on this last part, if you guys are seriously concerned about pvp and the auto follow or whatever mechanics, just go on google and search for PvP videos theres one big thing you will notice. A lot of the pvp happens in the air theres a lot more to it than just running around basically Aion has XYZ and WoW has XY so PvP is no where near as bad as you think.

in 10 minutes you can see animations, mob reaction, spell effects, auto attack speed, collision detection, UI and other systems you don't need to level to mid level and get 40 spells to decide how good a combat system is. In any good themepark you would have atleast 5-10 core spells by level 5 that's enough to know if you like the basic combat system.
I'm a Eve fan and I know how fanbois like to tell people to try the game longer to see if you like it and it's all bullshit to get you to p[lay a game longer if after 10-30 minutes if you hate the game uninstall.

It's CLEARLY an advantage to have it in AION if you're melee. Look at the PVP tournament videos. ALL MELEE USES IT.

It doesn't matter If I could turn it off, it matters that other players have it and some newb can basically auto follow me in pvp.
