    I agree with OP

nothing special, nothing new, it is very pretty

It very much the grind, grind some more, keep grinding, Okay now you may have the honor of having some fun.

boring quests you pay no attention to, you just take every quest you can, you never read the logs, just accept, follow arrow, kill,  follow arrow.

It is very very pretty. And if I had not been playing mmo's for years I'd be in love with it.  But as it is blah.

Did you even play Aion? It takes 30 minutes to ascend..which is level 9 then from there you jump right to level 10. I got to level 20 in 2 hours....30 in 4 hours. I have yet to "grind" unless you mean "quest grinding" and I actually do pay attention to the logs and all the quests I do and there is no arrows  telling me where to go.

Don't exaggerate when you're trying to make a point. 30 in 4 hours? did you even play aion? you don't have to pay attention to the log because you can just click on any blue name and press "locate" that'll tell you where to go. at some point between lv 19-20 you gotta have to grind, also around at lv 22-23. repeatable quests aren't counted! But then again, unlike what pipwicky said, you don't have to grind grind grind all the way, there'll be some quest to help you to reach a certain point at your level, and gotta grind the rest out, rinse and repeat at the next level.

Instead of grinding the same boring dailies for 2 weeks, they sit 2 hours in front of the AH, scan it, buy cheap&sell high and bang, they get 5000 gold from that. Very few people do that, because not knowing how will give you 5%-10% more profit, lol.

And beware, they'll do the same in Aion since the system allows it. They won't be able to do a full scan, but they will understand what are the most elusive/important mats and will still play around with them.

ya i hated that system in some server in wow

    why?

player basicly killed ah by doing what hogg do in rom but on the economy instead

they killed the economy of server then bot everything for a song then sold those like 5million for a copper bar

    player just changed server lol

and like you say within a week those program will work in aion

it makes me cry just to think of it

Not programs, since addons are forbidden in Aion, but Aion's AH functions the same as WoW's one.

But then, they will simply use their mind. When you can check an Aion database on the internet, you can clearly see the most needed mats. From that point, it's basically done. You start playing with them.

And I doubt people will use the sitshop. People did that in L2 since it was the only way they could sell things.

lol they ll just export the info lol to an add-on  outside the game

Actually, the broker slots that players get are extremely limited.  This will limit players trying to exploit the system by not allowing them to simply flood the market with all their bought out goods.  Sure they'll use alts, but those slots will fill too, and unless the turnaround is extremely fast on the items they're selling, they'll just hit a wall on trying to be an in-game Donald Trump.  Sure it doesn't keep players from making a nice return on under-priced high-demand items, but folks who get that break were smart enough to do so.

This is downright false. It does not take only 30 minutes to reach level 9 and you definitly never made it to level 20 in 2 hours.

It took me 3 ~ 4 hours to get to level 9 and thats from non - stop playing.

Yeah very very hard to reach 9 in 30 min I go it in 2-3 hours but it was my first time plus wasn't rushing in since it's a beta.

It's funny everyone i talk to "on Aion seems to say differently i mean anyone that gets pass level 10 seems to only have a grand time.

And sure it's time consuming but everything about this game actually keeps me entertained and i have played WoW and everquest i have played allot of pay to play and free to play so here's my opinion.

For the things that "DO" matter in an mmo i actually highly enjoyed the quests from the "side quest" you get at around level 5 as an elyos to grab the nymphs clothes at night. to the asmodian side of being a raider and burning things or destroying your enemies.

There was even a side quest to do with a mother and son relationship that was 13 pages long.

Oh the game definitely has a story.

It's just do you want to slow down to actually give a care about it or not? or do you want to rush to get into that ... pvp/mvp fun...

Which seems to be all kids care about now a days...

While im focusing on the community the music the gameplay the graphics and of course the story

And let me tell you i have no complaints.

from the simple joys of gliding to just listening to the music and destroying my enemies.

Sure it seems like any other mmo you go around kill do your quest move along till you get to the end.

But the thing is... it's Aion and unless you actually care "you won't last"

But i don't really see many aion players complaining so far everyone i talk to is gonna preorder.

    And so am i.

Well, in some cases it depends on classes. I was able to get to 10 on a sorcerer in 2 hours. On a warrior I found it was a bit longer. Of course this is with knowing everywhere to go in the starter area and exactly what to hunt.

3 to 4 hours of hard playing is probably right for most people who just start out to hit 10.

The one thing I could see being a major problem is the attacking "feature". On my warrior if you click attack it will autofollow/attack at the same time. How could this be good for PVP or inject any skill into it what so ever? Ugh.
Does it feel like they've been in release for a whole year? No.
Same old boring quests. Would I pay 50$ for release and a monthly when I can just stay subbed to another game? NO. NO WAY IN HELL.
I mean good attempt, just...no. This style of play just turns into every other style of korean gameplay. 1. Have better gear and have spells queued up in the right order. Roast someone. Rinse and repeat. Just the fact that the game doesn't have a free movement system for pvp really douches it up.
I dunno, I won't be wasting my money on this. You can call me a troll or whatever you'd like but I saw the PVP videos and everything...no.
Some people will like it, probably the PVE gang.

Well i agree with alot of what you have said, the grapic's aren't anywhere near as detailed as AoC but there good enough.

I think the PvP will be where this game will deliver,  where others have failed.

The reason being it's not that complicated, only 8 class gives it a real chance of being balanced.  I cant see one player being able to kick the crap out of 3 or 4 players because of hes class is flavour of the month.

I can see people are still praising Aion graphics even though they are mistaken graphics for art.

Aion's graphics is ancient, it is from 2004. There is no work with light, low texture resolution, no advanced effects - look at water, etc.

Recommended VGA for Aion is Nvidia 6600, how can you compare it to AoC?

Why should they make it with graphics par or better then AoC? To have less people playing? Not everyone has high end computers you know, they look great and that is enough to satisfy people.

Did I say they should make the game top notch graphics?

Graphics is not good, it is ancient.

Is it appealing to you? That is up to your consideration.

Read what you wrote and you will get it, you first started saying aion graphics are "ancient" or whatever comes to your mind which is not true maybe you don't like anime style but that would be an opinion then not a fact.

Texture maybe needs some fixing but till the game is visually beautiful it won't be much of importance and there's always patches and/or expansions that can fix this "problem" for you.

As I said in my previos post, people are mistaken graphics and art.

    1) Graphics is technical aspect of the game. It is the technnology used.
    2) Art is the design, style and 'look'.

Art is WHAT you are looking at and graphics is HOW it was done.

Aion graphics IS ancient, that is a fact. It is not submited to subjective opinion. It is build on engine from 2004 and does not use advanced techniques for 3D rendering.

Graphics part of the game was taken short in order as you said yourself - to be played by masses.
That description fits Aion truly well for other aspects of the game too, imho

Pretty decent game, the grind isn't as bad as I thought it would be, people seem nice, accept for in region chat where at times the asshatery gets out of hand with sexual BS and racist comments and there is no easy way to report it.

Also right now it's easy for the most part to do the quests solo and easy to find help if you need it, which IMHO you only need help when your fighting things way above your level. I kinda wonder if once people start to fill out the upper levels of the game how many you will see down in the lower levels, for help ect. Right now it's nice and busy because everyone is within the same level range. I imagine later it will be kinda dead and lonely in some of these areas like Poeta which would suck because it's a good point to start making friends. After you hit 10 there is really no point in returning.

Its not a downright lie. I did it, you can do it. Don't call me a liar if you are too lazy to do it. I got to level 9 in 30 minutes. Its not that hard, I created 8 characters, ALL of them are the level of acension or higher. It is not that hard to do something. What the hell you do? Just the quests and move on? I don't, I sit there and get atleast close to a level before I go off and turn in the quest. It is NOT that hard to do something like that.

You're just trying to add new meaning to the term graphics.

Graphics does NOT refer only to the technology used. Everything visual, including art, is considered graphics.

You can break down graphics into multiple parts such as technology and art, sure, but graphics in itself is not refering exclusively to technology.

About graphics being ancient, that depends how you look at it. If you compare it to non mmorpg games, sure. But if you compare it to recent MMORPGs such as Warhammer and Lord of the Rings Online, Aion isn't outdated.

Yeah because we all know the CryEngine is an anicent piece of crap, right?

  • Theos244Theos244 Member Posts: 33

i don't get why people always mention the cryEngine?? lol...it's a joke really...sure Aion doesn't look to bad imo....but common...the engine they used to create the game makes up for about 5% of why it looks this way...it's what they actually DO with the engine that makes up for the other 95%... sure for all those WoW players switching over it will be a very nice change of pace...very good character models...imho most of the game environment doesn't really match up compared with their character models...but they did a good job...and remember people...its an MMO...if your worried too much about graphics and how *new* they are from a techy standpoint...pick a different genre...or go play AOC...(which suffers on the gameplay end of things...)

I played Aion for awhile in beta...it wasn't bad...even though the combat isn't instantaneous like some other mmo's,, it is enjoyable and a good change of pace,, with the chain skills and all... the flight is awesome, i don't care what anyone says..and the pvpve is very good and it's nice to have something new.....finally....BUT...i will not be purchasing Aion when it comes out...the reason being...for me personally,,,i never was really drawn into the world much...the *immersion* factor just wasn't there.... most of this had to do with content or story that just didn't interest me hardly at  all...i am a fairly big RPer and this is one of the most important things I want in an MMO....i'm sure some will have a total opposite experience in Aion...but for me,,it's just not the right fit..

No, I am not. It was always like that.

In most cases, MMO or offline game is developed to be used on contemporaneous HW and the art and graphics go 'hand in hand'.

Aion is a bit exceptional because it is a new game launched on old engine and not even trying to bring the graphics to current standard levels, thus the difference between art and graphics is marginal in this case.

Does UO graphics, Duke Nukem 3D or Golden Axe graphics looks good in todays standards? No, they don't because they are outdated - on technical level.

Auto Follow allows for better Aerial combat, that is the reason they added it. If the game didn't have auto-follow for melee classes and such the PvP would just be hell on wheels. Plus if you didn't know they have a game mechanic where moving backwards increases defense but lowers attack, moving forward increases attack but lowers defense, and moving sideways increases evasion and all other stats remain stagnant, so there is point in moving around.

  • kamerakkamerak Member Posts: 71

you know this game must be doing something right cause people are in an uproar about how great/bad it is, I personally love it but i know people hate it hell in OB asmo side its like barrens chat extreme full of people that really shouldn't be in this game cause well they were expecting mmo jesus and got just another mmo.

and since there is allot of haters on this game watch this this guy sum's it up best

Graphics has always been everything visual that appears on your screen. This includes Art direction.

I'm going to stick to my argument that yes, compared to non mmorpg games, Aion is outdated from a technical perspective.Compare to other MMOs, it really isn't. Keep in mind that we're talking about a game that's already a year old.
