I don't know if it is because I haven't found a game I want to play for more than a week since SWG pre_CU.NGE, but everytime there's nothing nice and shiny to play be it SP or MMO, I come to these forums and read peeps posts. It's sad really that so many people literally fell in love with this game and it can be seen to this day even after 5-6 years.

I consider myself spoiled by SWG because it was my 1st MMO. Being an old timer, I never thought of playing an MMO until SWG came along.

Two things I remember that were golden moments.

My 1st login (in an MMO too)  I remember feeling overwhelmed by the game, having no idea what to do I decided to ask someone what the hell I was supposed to do in the game. After I figured out how to chat, I went in the cantina in Mos Eisley and there was that toon sitiing in a corner wearing one of those white raincoats selling something. I stood there a while reading the chat and I realised he was selling something called a "buff". He seemed quite knowledgeable about the game mechanics so I decided to ask for help.

I remember toons having those indicators in their names that revealed their faction affiliation, so not knowing how to start the conversation I said "Greetings, I am new here and I would like some help gaining skills as a fighter, are you an Imperial?". The guy obviously thought I was a Role Player and literally spent an hour and a half spewing Imperial propaganda and doctrine and it was so engrossing I nearly forgot that I needed help with the game. SO, I finally stopped acting along and said " I promise I will be a loyal servant of the Emperor one day if you are kind enough to tell me how to play this game!". The guy laughed his head off and confessed that he had no idea I was an "actual" noob and not a reroll or something for RP reasons. He then spent the next couple of days literally teaching me the game. His name was Dr. Octupus on Chimera. For the record, my toon joined the rebellion and never even considered going Imperial once :)

The other moment is a bounty hunter chase with a Jedi. I literally had his mission for weeks.

He was imperial and since me and my mate refused to hunt rebel Jedi, he was our only choice at the time, since back then Jedi of any faction were  few anyway and getting the same mission on a jedi was difficult to begin with, one had to spend at least a couple of hours to get the same mission with another BH.

Most imp Jedi knew about us and our dogedness was renown on the server that once we started chasing after you we would never give up until you were lying dead on our feet. We would scout and scope you out, take down notes of frequent grinding spots and wait for the perfect moment to catch you unawares.

The guy was uber cautious always looked out for us and always did that /who command or whatever it was to see who was on the same planet the moment he realised we were after him. We were on his list and he knew when we were online. Eventually we got tired of waiting and decided to jump him in a spot he used to grind close to his house on Naboo. We planned and charged and we managed to whack his speeder so that he wouldn't run back to his house. A long fight ensued and the guy was good and had the skills too so he managed to incap/db my friend and I was on the verge too before he fell incapped.

The usual chatter ensued "Please don't DB I'll pay". The guy actually paid us 2mil creds each to leave him alone and never take his mission again. We agreed and kept our word. I felt like a real BH that day, so proud to be the pure scum of the earth. I seriously doubt any other game would offer that feeling again.

My favorite memory was playing a Dancer in the early days of the game (right up until Holocrons were introduced). Everyone who was in the cantinas as a Dancer or Musician was there largely because they really liked the idea of a social archetype, so we were all there learning the game together, talking about what we enjoyed in the game and in real life, and also figuring out how to synchronize steps/songs with one another. Once Holocrons showed up and the cantinas filled with bots, I got rid of dancing and became a Creature Handler (which produced most of my other favorite memories). Those early days were unlike any experience I've had in an online game before or since, though.

Every second of SWG playtime was more enjoyable than the best moments in any other game.  The lowest lows in SWG were leaps and bounds beyond the highest highs in any other game.

    My fondest memory...hrmm...

It would have to be right after CU was released.  I found an exploit in the game; which I shared with only a handful of people inside of my tightly run guild/city.  We decimated the GCW over night.  When people woke up the next day they were completely in shock that every planet was totally dominated by the Imperial faction, Corellia being the worst blow, being that it had never been drastically hit by the Imps prior to our actions.  Of course every main stream Imp guild went on to the forums to try and take credit for it and were retaliated against.  We kept our mouths shut and soaked in all the glory.  lol

Eventually some of the major players on my server figured out it was us who did that, with only a small handful of people and quickly they all submitted to us as the reigning terror on the server.  It was an awesome time for me in the game; but, I was also growing tired of SWG itself and had left shortly after things started to boom and never went back.

I read an article in PC gamer one time where some douche bag was taking credit for that event (which drastically shifted all control on the server there on after); but, I can assure you it wasn't some secret server wide collaboration.  It was two 6 man groups pulling an all nighter, with the knowledge of a fatal exploit in base defenses.

Nothing more exciting then waking up to see an entire server in total hysteria.  I will admit, after many years of playing countless other MMORPGs I never experienced anything as awesome as that again, that's why I always remember it so vividly.

Ya, I had a lot of fun times on SWG; but, that moment stood out the most for obvious reasons.  How often do you piss off half of an entire server?

My guild was full of A-Holes; but, we rocked!

Different colored flesh wraps on the vendors in my stores - spending time customizing what they would say... the time leading up to worrying that perhaps I should go outside.  There was just something awesome about the three young women greeting me as I came into the store... my lil' pimpin' Bothan.

I miss the MMORPG genre. Will a developer ever make one again?

3-4 days after release i was browsing the ah and bought one of the very first mouse droids made on my server (Kauri). I had no idea how to get to Corellia to pick it up, but I figured it out and the whole trip there, then coming back and having tons of people ohhing and ahhing over the mouse driod was something really unique, i remember you could set the mouse droid to follow people and i would sit in town (Anchorhead) and freak people out with it till the droids got more common.

I was one of the very first Resource Dealers on Kauri, I eventually met 2 other people in the game who partnered with me and had 2 stores, 2 vendors in a couple malls and did alot of personal orders, we made a ton of money :)

This was before player vehicles, i had to move 17 harvesters almost every week and i had to make all the decisions on what to harvest, ect which meant I spent a lot of time on SWGCraft.com which allowed people to list resources as they appeared and list all the stats and stuff, the amount of time I spent on resources and setting harvesters down and stuff is insane when i look back but it was alot of fun and I can guarentee i walked the entire surface of every planet in swg that you could set harvesters on.

It was a really unique game and experience, I quit at the nge like everyone else and have tried it a few times since then but its not half the game it once was.

I most miss a Star Wars setting placed in the Original Movie Timeline.

And how the game was meant to try to simulate "every day life" in the Star Wars galaxy.

The original vision for SWG was beautiful. "Live n the Star Wars Galaxy".

We're never going to see that again, which is sad.

I remember the day they introduced creature mounts very well!  I had just finished the entire BH investigation tree on foot.

Getting my first BH mission on a player, and taking down my first Jedi!

    Good times indeed.

    I have several good memories.

Walking in the desert for hours on end before I found my first town bestine.

    Being elected mayor of Acheron

Having a Jedi, BH, and combat medic on one account. Having a Jedi, master droid smith and dancer on my second account

    Crafting over 52 Jet-packs

Making Master pilot on all 6 toons different factions each.

Going to Atlanta round table to give Helios my mind about how the NGE screwed us up, as well as the rest of the soe staff at the event.

I miss so much about the game before the nge.

Fondest memory has to be ((And this counts in my top 3 of all mmos)) when 2 of my friends and I started an RP'd bar fight in a cantina. I eneded up dying but the simple fact that EVERYONE in the place ((Players)) totally went with it was priceless.

It started with insults, then fist fights and then all our blasters. Loved every second of it and no other game as ever even come close, RP wise. Must of been the SW setting.

Ah, SWG. My first real MMO experience. I remember when the first Jedi was announced. It was a big event. Before that it was all speculation on how to become a Jedi. I remember having three rancors pets out at once before it was nerfed to two. I remember playing with my RL friend, and because we didn't have ventrillo or anything like that, we'd call each other on our cell-phones and talk over speaker phone. I remember just being such a total noob, but still getting invited to groups. =p

seeing this thread again brings me nothing but pain. as the title drew me into the same memory. and reminded me of the same experience from my previous post in may of last year.

My first would be my first vehicle, as it made me appreciate the usefulness of the faster speed.

And second would be "Bouncer" my pet gubber, he was my first ever tamed pet, and just couldn't destroy him, he was too cute lol.  Also due to his low lvl until the nge, i could have him following me whatever class i was.

I loved when my Fencer/Pistoleer/Smuggler all had dodge bonus's that stacked, making you pretty much impossible to hit hehe it only lasted a lil while before it was nerfed but man it was a blast being invinsible=) oh and emoting your own custom inflamatory battle cries before the slaughter!

Doctor/fencers were a real pain in the arse, especially ones wearing 80% kin/40% stun comp armor. Luckily there was an actual counter for that, mind poison/disease combat medics and force powers with lightning and intimidate.

I've had many great moments in SWG, I think my fondest was the first few months of SWG itself, the Anchorhead-Bestine pvp fights and going to bed in my house at night and waking up and stepping out of the house for new things to do (go to Endor and explore on foot), I had this girl (yes a real girl, we chatted on her guild's vent) that used to drive over to my house and show me the things she looted or was given by her guild members and we'd even go out and do missions and hunt Rebels. I eventually met her IRL as she wasn't very far from where I live (same town as my sister), but she eventually got married and vanished.

I don't think I'll experience in any other games like anything of what I had in SWG's first 2.5 years.
