First of all don't be a hater in this topic. Well I never wanted to get into Halo back in the day until my dad picked it up and we started playing Co-Op. I feel in love with Halo and it's multiplayer. Then Halo PC's multiplayer. When Halo 2 came out something just didn't feel right about multiplayer (small maps and no epic battles), yet it still had the foundation me and my dad enjoyed. Co-Op. Halo 3, great mutiplayer yet still riddled with small maps so I didn't focus too much time there. I loved the multiplayer, but why the hell does the brotha of the whole game had to die at the end. BULL.
Now here is ODST and I see the E3 stuff if it and why do I feel like this is the same game, but with health packs or something? Modern Warfare 2 already got my money, but it's something in me that just dosen't want me to invest money into ODST and this is the first time I ever had a type of gut feeling about a Halo game. I do want to hear the story of the ODST, but then again I'm not all to sure. How do yall feel about ODST?

RISING DRAGOON ~AION US ONLINE LEGION for Elyos
I will also be getting Aion, just not the CE hehe
Anyway about Halo 3: ODST, I'm not very excited about it either. The biggest issue for me is the price tag: 60$.
They are reusing content from Halo 3. Most of the weapons are reused, and by that I don't mean remodeled and updated, they are just transfered over from Halo 3 to ODST. It runs on the same engine, which was already dated in 2007 and even more so in 2009. There is no new multiplayer content besides 3 new maps and firefight.
Halo 3 : ODST started as a budget priced title because it was supposed to be an expansion. Microsoft then realised they could sell pretty much anything full price as long as it has Halo slapped on the box xo they increased the price to 60$. To justify it, they will repackage old downloadable content and add a beta. This means people who already bought the DLC will have to pay for it twice, and people who didn't want to buy the DLC are now forced to do so because they want to play the ODST campaing.
I don't see why I should pay 60$ for a game that reuses much of its content when I can get a brand new game for the same amount. Sure Firefight is cool but a survival game mode is nothing new, plus there is not going to be matchmaking for Firefight (nor for co - op) so you can only play it if you happen to have 3 friends with you that want to play it.
GO BACK TO WoW
JK just something I hear on MMORPG forums a lot
(not funny I know)
I feel it might be the first time I set foot into the Halo universe with Halo/ODST. Did try the other ones but they never got to me in wanting to play them fully. I have several friends that are totaly into the whole Halo thing, I am more into Cod/UT/QuakeWars type of multiplayer games. But like I said this new Halo game has abit of my attention. And am already 100% sure that Cod/MW2 will be added to my collection, havn't missed one yet and for me they keep getting better and better, though with Cod4 singleplayer I felt more connection to my character then I felt with Cod5 singleplayer.
I agree with you gameloading. It seems more to be an expansion than anything and that is what it was. I'm going to pass on buying it.

firefight does looks fun but i cant bring myself to drop 60 bucks on ODST. not with dragon age and MW2 around the corner.

Playing Borderlands instead. Bungie is milking Halo to no end and ODST doesn't offer enough new things for me to to stay interested for the long term.
I will be getting ODST but for the main reason the story and the fact that you get all the map packs included in the ODST box , so if youve only just got halo 3 a few months ago and didnt want to buy all the map packs well now u get them all in the box , so i would say its a bonus for anyone who hasnt got all the multiplayer maps.
ODST is literally HALO 3 with all the map packs plus new firefight mode and 4-5 new multiplayer maps.
It's ridiculous, if you play it on the 360 you know what I mean too. First with Halo 3 to keep playing on the 360 you HAD to buy each map pack as it came out. They wouldn't let you join in without all the maps. But then these new maps turned out to be inferior in gameplay to the existing maps so they were mostly all phased out of the rotation. So essentially you kept paying them to just keep playing what it already was again. And now, since too many people will switch over to ODST, just to keep playing the same crap you've been playing with the same weapons, same maps, you will have to pay $60. It is such a rip off it is insane.
But as to the original poster. HALO 3 has the big maps but they are reserved for the big team match-ups (8 on 8). They realized (and rightly so) that people hated playing maps that were too big when it was just 2 v2 or 4 v 4, most of the time got eaten up by running forever across a map to get near the enemy. The smaller maps are the most played and least vetoed in online multiplay because they work. Blackout, Guardian, Construct. Where as the bigger maps like Isolation, Valhalla, get vetoed almost every single time. Even The Pit gets vetoed a lot and that's more of a medium sized map.
I think Halo is old news to most people.
The only good Halo was the first one because it was something new.
The rest were pretty much the exact same thing.
Though I'm a tard and bought all 3.
Well I get lucky as I get to split the cost with my brother so not so much this or that for me. Were splitting ODST and MW2 and Ill be grabbing Dragon Age CE and maybe borderlands. IMO I want more back story for Halo so I guess its worth it to me. Firefight looks cool and idc about having payed for the DLC already. Midship is a HUGE plus for me, all time favorite map of halo. King of the hill+rockets+first to 30seconds=20mins of awesome.(has to be at least 8 people 16 even better) Im liking the ODST thing and the live action short was pretty dam cool. Overall it seems worth it to me and my bro, were both big halo fans so looking forward to this and reach(read the book if you havnt yet).
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.
If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

You're not the only one
ODST looks just like Halo 3. Nothing new or extraordinary has been added to the core gameplay or multiplayer. I totally agree with everyone that this should NOT be at its current 60$ price tag. It's merely an expansion to Halo 3. I wasn't even impressed by Halo 3 when I got it. It was slow and dull compared to other games like Unreal Tournament and TF2. Not to mention the terrible player community of 7 year olds. To the fanbois of Halo, it might be worth it. But to everyone else (including me) it looks like a huge middle finger being shoved up your nostril.
I have ordered the Aion CE already anyway. I'll also probably get Borderlands as well like a previous poster said. At least that game looks fresh. I'm sure it will be a decent game to play with friends and to progress with.
Currently playing: Star Wars: The Old Republic, World of Warcraft, Dota 2, League of Legends
Waiting on: Blade & Soul, Guild Wars 2, Tera, Kingdoms of Amular, Firefall
yeah umm....?
halo sucks...it's a mediocre shooter at best...and its fanbase consists probably of the same idiots that keep buying full price EA slightly updated John Madden games every year.

After playing TF2 for the past 6 months I have nothing good to say about the TF2 community either. My brief time in UT wasn't much better. They all have their ups and downs. Also not every fps is gonna be the same pace its preference.
But yeah not worth the price unless you want the backstory and midship(greatest fps map ever imo).

HALO is overated and I'm glad that it's slowly fading. Halo was nice when it came out but it feels like a big Hollywood production with no depth. A bit different from games such as, STALKER or Farcry, Crysis and such...
Slowly fading? Lol? I think you should wait for the NPD reports before you say that. There have already been over one million people reported to have played ODST online so far.
Anyways, back to the topic. I honestly don't see the game being worth $60 either. What confused the HELL out of me is the fact that the game has been 100% finished for 8 months. Why in the hell didn't they add more basic multi-player maps? Three is stupidly low. I guess they just said screw it and pulled the team out to work on Reach.
As for my opinion on the game, I can say the the single-player campaign is actually quite good. I loved the original Halo, was EXTREMELY disappointed with Halo 2 and Halo 3 was another disappointment for me in the campaign as well. ODST really has a different vibe to it. Although it's fairly short, I enjoyed it a lot more than Halo 3's campaign.
It's not really fading, it's pretty much stalled out though. It may pick up with the next one thats in development. Overall I agree with you, Halo was kinda meh. Couldn't figure out the hype around it.
Well all I can say is I have been a Halo fan since the first Halo, was a bit dissapointed with Halo 3's campaign but decided to pick this game up. It's quite a good game imo, Firefight is a bucket load of fun with some friends the campaign has hardly any boring bits and is well done and you get the full MP on the second disc.
I got it for $79 in AUS at JB HI-FI which is a decent price, I think it will be a good companion for Modern Warfare 2 I am enjoying it quite a bit, especially Firefight.
Currently Playing: Nothing
Have Played: UO, WoW, GW, FFXI, L2, LotRO, WAR, Aion
Looking Forward To: SW:TOR
Not sure what it is about halo that keeps dragging me back in but it does every release. So its probably just the drug that is halo calling you again.
The campaign for Halo ODST was fairly boring and seemed short. I haven't played firefight much but it isn't all that great. The game is definitely not worth $60 and is more like an expansion. Only reason I play it is for the multiplayer.
