Aion opens Sept 22...but consider waiting till Sept 29

There is no doubt Aion has a decent amount of hype preceding it's release.

I expect that Aion will have a large 'Bum rush' during its first week-2weeks. For some, being in or ahead of that wave is important as they try to establish themselves as the uberest player/legion on a server. For many others it may be best to stand back and wait for the dust to settle before you start. Separating yourself from and following the main wave will make leveling a lot more enjoyable. Many quests require killing <X> or gathering <Y> ...and its a much happier experience when you are not competing with 20-200 others to harvest that flower/click that bag/killed that named spawn/etc.

Good luck everyone

Na, it's always better to get in at launch and meet your servermates asap. In a week many early starters will be at or near max level and already hunting for people leveling up. Personally I'd rather deal with crowds then ganking. Not that you wont be able to level later down the road, but it's much easier when your one of the first to reach higher levels.

I'm definitely getting into the preselect and headstart, but I'm considering waiting a few days after that because I have a lot of homework to do. Hmm, also, you need to realize that there are channels. 10 different channels to be exact and therefore, if someone is occupying space that you want to kill a monster or gather some material, you can always switch channels without having to switch servers.

I mean that's the best idea, channels, but the farther you move up in level, there will be less and less channels and when you enter the abyss, it is just 1 channel for both asmodian and elyos, and I like it that way because I can PvP anytime I want.

Why the heck would anyone wait?  The first two tiers will have 10 channels each to help with overcrowding.

If anyone was really worried about too many people online at the launch of any game.. no one would play it!  Part of the excitement of launch is seeing so many people around.

With over 400K pre-orders, what makes you think you won't be in the middle of the "masses" during the early start.

I'd venture a guess that the pre-orders are a substantial portion of the MMO population that's likely to be interested in Aion at this point, its not exactly a household word out there.

I can't imagine it being much "worse" than the ob was and due to the channel selection available it didn't really seem that bad to me far as completing quests or gathering items.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

What, and miss all the crash, crowd, lag, and other hair-pulling desk smacking happenings? Nice try. :)

I'm hurrying to get all my schoolwork and projects, deadlines done before I even log in, and step foot in this game.  Can you believe this?  I am for once, not procrastinating, but planning ahead, and having good time management skills.  We all know how addictive mmo's can be.  If I am a few days, or a week late it won't really matter in the long run.  I'll have so much time to sink into this game once priorities are sorted out, I can catch up in a swift manner.

I participated in FFXI at launch, and also WAR, so imo, the OP is right, let the dust settle, and then you will probably have less overall lag.

This is a marathon, not a sprint.

    P.S. I sprint marathons.  =P
