Quick review of S.U.N

I was happy to see Soul of the Ultimate Nation  released in North America , I never miss an open beta if I can help it and I was lucky enough to catch SUN now while it`s still in the beta phase .

Not another Asian grinder ?  The current level cap is 50 which takes most players less than a week or so of moderate game play to reach by doing missions , no one grinds mobs in this game for exp . The level cap will be raised Oct . 8th when the new content is added . This is the easiest leveling experience I have ever had in any game however , since the full version has something like 130 -150 levels , I`m not going to make any assumptions about whether or not this will become a grind fest later on .

Graphics -  9 - very nice high end stuff

Character customization - 5 - needs improvement  - very limited

Skills - 8 - there are more than you will be able to use and they look damn cool

Classes - 6 - there are currently 4 classes that each have 2 subclasses - a new class will be added at release - gender restricted which I personally don`t like .

User Interface - 5 - I don`t like the UI at all - mainly because the hot keys can`t be re-sized and their fixed meaning they can`t be moved at all - there is mouse inversion and wasd controls however so its not all bad.

Crafting - Its to early to rate the crafting/enchanting system but the mats are primarily obtained from drops .

Items - 6 - limited

Pets - ? They exist but I don`t have any

Mounts - ?

Game play - hack and slash typical tank - healer -mage - dps set up but overall pretty good with some unique and interesting features . The game has a system that allows you to instance maps and set the level of difficulty , you can do this with missions or pvp battles however , I`m not seeing this feature being utilized much right now , everyone is pretty much playing in the open maps and dungeons .

Dragon Knights or " DK`s as their referred to are the most popular class because they can transform into a half dragon/human and sort of fly a few feet off the ground - the effect looks really cool . This is one of the 2 subclasses for Dragon Knights . I don`t play a DK myself but rather opted for a zerker , I get a lot of joy at throwing people up in the air and bashing them with a big 2 handed axe complete with a large amount of screaming and yelling . The audio is actually pretty good also in this game .

PVP -  -  The bottom line is that there is a very very long penalty for killing anyone even in self defense and players are asking the devs to reduce it to a more reasonable mode . Its open pvp with full item drop period - there are penalty free pvp zones on each map also .

Overall its a fun game  - the breaker will be the typical item mall when its released if it ends up being another RMT scenario that sells advantages much the way Archlord turned out - we will have to wait and see .

Nice review. About penalties for pvp, it was also the same in MU and it sucked, i hope there will be more different pvp modes than just PK or like duels.

The PvP penalty is why I quit. It pretty much ruins the whole game when you get flagged for defending yourself.

From what I saw in the beta events the pets give you bonuses. They were giving out siberian huskies that gave a bonus to attack damage. I would assume these pets are bought in the cash shop.
