Will there be RvR??

Does anyone of you know if this game will have RvR (Race vs Race / Realm vs Realm)??

I mean like Sith vs Jedi or Republic vs Empire.

Well, right now i am playing AION and i have to say i love the PvP settings there. If you see an enemy you just try to kill him for your race. 9Dragons had similar RvR settings, but in that game ppl just wanted to be friends with ppl from the other fraction and never really fought each other what i never liked. And another good thing is that  the player population is balanced in AION, so that none race outnumbers the other race.  RvR in WAR was fun, but it was mostly 1sided coz of the imbalance in player numbers.

I am not saying AION is the BEST, I just like the PvP settings there and was wondering how it will be in TOR.

Anyways , its kinda hard to imagine a Sith and a Jedi in the 1 same party.....

All they have said is "There will be PvP in Star Wars The Old Republic". No details yet.

If there is not a deep, complex, and meaningful pvp system then this game fails.  It's called Star Wars for a reason.  Emote waving and "loling" with the opposite faction is not that reason.

You may be unpleasantly surprised.  Bioware is new to PvP.  They may pull some experienced people from Mythic but the question is do they have enough time to incorporate Mythic style RvR.

For the sake of this game -  I hope not.

From what I gather they are putting an emphasis on something called "story" so I don't expect they will allow some uncouth creeps unknowledgeable in the ways of "story-telling" to mess with their "vision."ž

In short expect a single player RPG with a highly optional multiplayer component and PvP that is divorced from the rest of the game and especially the world state... we can't allow those pimply geeks to mess with our carefully crafted "story" now can't we? This could seriously diminish little Timmy's chances of completing his heroe's jurney by saving the world and finally feeling like he accomplished something with his life... he and 10+ milion others like him.

So, a little Timmy game... Sadly the devs (or at least western big-name ones) still believe their target audience is 12 year old boys. Until this is changed we will continue being fed "Little Timmy Saves the World" mmos.

On the other hand I might be wrong. Who knows? I'm skeptical tho. Bioware is a single-player developer and I seriously doubt this won't influence their design. Their press releases largely confirm my fears.

I won't play TOR but I'm willing to bet it will turn out very much like LOTRO is now. PvP will be second thought and the fans will stand by it no matter how bad the mmo is.

I watch Star Wars for a  fix because honestly no MMO will ever be better then movies and I dont plan to ruin that by playing TOR. TOR will be huge once it releases only to slowly get boring to the folks that enjoy PVP. I love pvp so I wont touch TOR with a 10 foot pole lol

I won't be playing this game. Mainly because of the exploding toxic discs i think they're going to put the game onto. I know they havnt really said anything about it yet, but i'm sure thats wot they're going to do. I just cant stand toxic exploding game discs. U just wait and see that i'm right. Epic fail.

    There will be PvP.

They said there is two distinct factions for a reason.

This whole excuse of Bioware is new to mmo's and pvp and whatever you throw into the mix is so used up.

Blizzard did have diablo 2 over battle.net to get plenty of pvp expereince issues with balancing, hacking, etc... but I do agree with your point that people do need to stop assuming that just because the company has not made an mmo, that none of the developers have. For christs sake, Ashen Temper, one of the mods, is from Shadowbane. Who knows how many developers and programmers they have from other past mmos (not to mention Mythic) on staff.

    Cheers!

Yet PVP was the last thing they touched.

The best example was MYthic.  They didn't have any pvp experience and there wasn't even another game out at the time so they pioneered it.  Yet few have matched their success in pvp.
