Another Gold Spam thread

Gold spam has been increasing to a crescendo until last night was brought to new levels. Spammers have gone far beyond advertising and now repeat their announcements with such frequency, that I wonder if they want to impede gamers rather than entice gamers.

In the end, I would think it would be in the spammers interest to not be so abusive as to force players away from the game. My conspiracy theory mind says that Blizzard is behind fictitious gold sellers trying to make players leave Aion.

Ah well...how do I leave channel 3?

When pigs fly, and global warming is a chilly artifact of history, gold spammers will always be there. If not now, in a week, in a month. Why? because of the demand. Think of it as game crack. People who have the means, and/or have played for years may want endgame content and simply will do anything to get around grinding for the cash needed for xyz.

Gold spammers will not go away, ever. Ban an account or IP? Yeah, like that stops anyone.

The spammers increased their frequency because of GMSilverfang.  They were bitter about his actions and it was retribution.  In case you weren't around here's what happened,

GMSilverfang went around to each server and logged in.  He monitored the Chat and PUBLIClY banned in the chat box anyone spamming gold tells.  You'd see: "XYSF: Buy gold here xxx.xxx.xxx".  Then it'd be followed by: "XYSF HAS BEEN BANNED".

So they're pretty mad he shutdown a number of the accounts they were using so they started spamming it even more.  He'll shut those down too, but there are a lot of them.

OP, you do know that you can right click on any name from the chat and block it right?

Also you can create your own channel, and setup whatever you want to see there : PM's, Group, Trades, Etc.

I have edited 2 channels : 1 where it only shows Group text, no other texts or such and one where I can see only PM's and Group Text :)

Reporter: What's behind Blizzard success, and how do you make your gamers happy?
Blizzard Boss: Making gamers happy is not my concern, making money.. yes!

If you click on the chat tab menu above where chat shows you can get a list of the chat channels and simply click off the box of the channel you wish to leave.

I really wish lazyasses would stop supporting those spammers so they would simply go away.  What's the point of playing these games anyways if you just want everything handed to you anyhow?

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

its too bad that ncsoft dosent want to try harder to ban these guys like have a team for it and its too bad to see gamegaurd gone completely dosent make sense to me at least get rid of their macros make them work for it

the next step they will takei  think is to reduce the spam by puting rules out there.

They should set something up in the right click option for spammers. So if say 5 independent accounts (would need to define what independent rules are) mark it as spam it is block until further review. Let it do a chat log save of the last 5-10 minutes, and if the account is challenged they can review the log.

But hey it is just a thought, at least then we would feel like as a gammer we have some control over it. Last night I gave trying to put a group together and just worked on my crafting.

What acction they took pissed the spammers off last night.
