"Buying gold makes baby murlocs cry. If that isn't enough to dissuade you, then check out the informational webpage we put together to make sure everyone has the facts about the negative impact of buying gold and using power-leveling services. Our goal is to shed light on how these companies operate, share some of the measures we’re constantly taking to combat them, raise awareness of the effects these services have on all players -- not just the buyers -- and help protect members of the community from being targeted by them. So give it a read -- it'll only take a few minutes. And don't buy gold. Because you wouldn't want little Murky's tears on your conscience, would you?"

I completely agree with this article. The core of the problem is lazy losers who buy gold. It is NEVER ok, NEVER a good idea to buy gold, EVER!! Everyone suffers because you are too lazy to play the game like MOST people do. And I also believe the laws against the sellers needs to increased dramatically. In some countries they literally take famalies hostage and force them to work under threat of death. Not a joke. google it yourself. Korea has a good start on it. 5yr jail sentence and minimum $50,000 fine. And for those who don't know, it is now illegal in most countries. Some charge them with tax evasion. It varies from country to country. According to recent statistics 85% of sellers come from China. Some are from Indonesia, Taiwan, Mexico and even Brazil.  Come on people DON"T BUY GOLD!!

Why would anyone buy gold is completely beyond me. Alright, it could be somewhat understandable in vanilla when someone lacked gold for epic mount (yeah, 1k gold  was a hefty sum). But if you had friends you could borrow some of it and grind the rest. Or you could make gold in AH if you were lazy.

And now gold comes in such amounts that people don't know what to do with it...

MMORPG genre is dead. Long live MMOCS (Massively Multiplayer Online Cash Shop).

I can think of one reason why someone would buy gold, there time is worth more money than farming teh gold.

IOf i had a job wehre i got like, $20 an hour, why would i want to waste hours upon hours farming gold when i could just pay $50 and be set for a while, without wasting my possibly already short gameplay time farming.

Theres nothing wrong with buying gold, the problem lies in how people get the gold, it pretty much creates that little crime underworld.

I am amused by how naive you guys are.  Do you really think Blizzard cares about their games economy?  Hell how do you even damage a non-existent economy?  The people who buy gold and use power leveling services aren't going to spend as much time playing the game, and Blizzard has those excessive time sinks in the game to keep these people playing for a very long time which makes them more money.
