Free Day or Weekend Instead Of Trial

I use Steam, and on Steam, they sometimes offer a game for free for a weekend, the most recent game being "The Killing Floor".

Basically, they made it so for about 48 hours over the weekend, you could play TKF completely free, no credit card, no code, nothing and you got to try everything save for some DLC content, which was really just extra characters to play. Then, when your time was up, you had to buy the game to play it any further. I got to try TKF, I loved it, and as soon as I get some money, I'll buy it.

Now, if you don't see what I' am trying to say, here it is:

What if MMOGs had something like that, were, once every three months or so they'd allow players to play their game for a weekend, without entering any credit card information or needing a key, like an F2P game.

OR they could go with a single day where the game is free, completely free, and do this once a month.

Would you be happier with this or the trials? Opinions/comments/criticism welcome.

Edit - These form of trials would offer all of the features of the game, period.

Trials are usually level based in their restriction. You can take a day or a week to get to that max level of the trial. Which means you can play at your own pace and properly judge the game on a schedule of your choosing.

I think the regular trials lik they have now is better overall. Sure the free day or weekend thing would be nice to get a quick glimpse of the game, but most games with trials nowadays are usually 1-3 weeks, allowing you plenty of time to try out different toons, explore a bunch of areas, get up to a fairly decent level and see what the game really has to offer. Sure some games can be decided on in just a day or 2, but if its a game youre kind of on the fence about subbing to, you really need a bit more time to see if its really worth the $ or not.

personally, i wont be interested coz it'll take me that much time to download the game :( it sounds like a nice idea tho. the devs just have to make sure trial characters cant give away their items and what not.
