I want to get Darkfall, but I don't want the same thing to happen with this game that happened with Tabula Rasa.
I bought Tabula Rasa a week before it announced the game was closing down, and as much as I liked the game, I quit, I was furious.
Could I possibly get some proof as to whether or not this game is closing down?
I just don't want to buy it and be told a month later I'll have to go looking again...

not a chance, just take the leap of faith and jump in. Seriously its a fun game, come on it, the water is fine.
If you wait for proof it wont close, you will never play any game. dont worry about it just play and keep your fingers crossed.
Ive been playing for a month now and its fun so far...
I'm going to need even a little reassurance.

No worries.
It is more likely that you will drop before Darkfall, a lot of new players can't hang in this game.
Darkfall isn't going anywhere, there IS a player base that is 100% dedicated to this game. Sure, we could use more players but the game is not going to close down because it doesn't have over a quarter million players. It is not an NCSOFT game.
Wish I could offer you some, but really I have no idea. The next expansion could probably spark a lot of people to sub/re-sub.
I'm going to be pissed if things go south though. But I'll survive.
Would be a shame to lose a game such as this especially being so young.

In the history of Darkfall is safe to say that there were moments which required more faith then what is required now from you to join in.

Well, my guild was 17 members, meaning pretty small, we just got 5 new recruits this week, every guild in our alliance is saying the same thing. This is purely experience without statistics, but it seems that the game is growing again to me.
I can't guarantee it won't shut down, I went to the starter town and it was empty, but I think starting characters aren't staying in starter towns as long. (and they shouldn't)
The overall numbers seem to be holding steady, or increasing to my limited eye. I've seen people on Euro that are moaning a bit because they say the pop is low, and transfers are next week and going to lower them more, but NA is looking very good right now.
Asdar
Talba Rasa got closed down pretty much illegally FYI
They have done the following since launch:
Added 3-4 new devs
Added a professional website for the game
Launched the game in NA
Launched a professional website for their company
Are doing promotions in Greece
Launched 1 major patch with a new one on the way
This game isn't shutting down any time soon.

Richard Garriott announced that he was leaving NCAustin and Tabula Rasa in an open letter to the community, though he now claims this letter was in fact written by NCsoft as a means of forcing him out. The announcement was made while Garriott was in quarantine after returning from his spaceflight in October, and the announcement claimed he was inspired by the space travel experience to pursue other interests.
Tabula Rasa's Development Team on 21 November 2008, weeks after Richard's announcement, also released an open letter that the game will end public service on 28 February 2009, citing a lower than expected in-game population as the major factor for the decision. Developers also announced that any active paying player as of 10:00 AM Pacific Time on November 21, 2008 will be eligible for some rewards, including paid time on other NCsoft titles (any paying subscribers joining after that point are ineligible). On 27 February 2009, a message posted on the official website requested that players participate in a final assault, culminating with mutual destruction of AFS and Bane forces.[32][33][34]
[edit] Litigation
Richard Garriott is currently suing NCsoft for $24,000,000 USD.[35] Garriott is suing for damages relative to his termination from the parent company NC Soft.[36] Garriott's allegation states that NC Soft terminated his employment, then fraudulently reported his termination as willful resignation in order to preserve the right to terminate Garriot's stock options unless he exercised them himself within 90 days of termination, forcing Garriott into a decision to purchase stock with which a loss was incurred worth dozens of millions in profit for Mr. Garriott. Additionally, the news of the termination was issued while Mr. Garriot was confined to quarantine from the space flight, which was originally intended to be a publicity move to further promote the game and increase revenue. It is also possible that Garriott may sue for rights to the intellectual property as well as a settlement to reopen and sustain the relaunch of the game servers under a newly formed game company as a measure of good faith to the original subscribers and investors."

Ease up, I think Phranky boy just gets off work around this time of day and comes home all crabby.
It's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head that could bring out such frustration around the same time of day everyday.
You soooooo angry Phranky, in sooo many forums. Chill a bit bud.

I read this quote twice, and while I can see where Richard Garriott may have been terminated in a less than honest way, I can't seem to find the part that would substantiate your claim that the game, Tabula Rasa was "closed down pretty much illegally" .
So, if you could help a half blind, old man out here, I would appreciate it if you would cut the relevant part out of that wall of text and paste it into your reply.
Thanks in advance.

FYI:
They[NCSoft] are alleged to have removed Richard Garriott by "force". Richard Garriott announced that he was leaving NCsoft to pursue "new interests" late in 2008.
Garriott didn't have any say in the future of Tabula Rasa. NCSoft acquired the rights to Tabula Rasa upon acquisition of Destination Games in 2001. Basically the same thing he did with the Ultima and Ultima Online i.p.'s and Electronic Arts.
NCSoft announced that Tabula Rasa would closing down, citing a "lower than expected in-game population as the major factor for the decision".
Garriott filed his complaint in May of 2009. As far as I know, that claim is still in litigation. (My personal guess is that he realized he had made an "uh-oh" in regards to his stock options, and his voluntary resignation. Maybe because he was still all giddy about his $30,000,000.00 trip into space?)
Yes, there have been a few MMO's shut down for what some people would feel to be ridiculous reasons (Earth & Beyond and Motor City Online come to to mind for me), but there have been far more shut down for legitimate reasons.
Personally, I don't want see Darkfall shut down. But I feel that since most of Darkfall's development cost was funded through various grants, that the coming months will either make or break the game.

You are simply trying to obfuscate your real intentions.
