I think this show really suits the History Channel. Just one of the few channels that have never had a change or revamp on cable/satalite netowrk. It's more of a modern feel with a historical scent in it. Seems its always a suprise to what people bring in to me...I just wonder how the hell some people sell things for 400 when it can go off for about 3.5k. In times like this I know people need money now, but damn if it's been around the house for that long, I'm sure you can put it around Ebay for that long.
I saw one episode where one guy brought an AUTHENTIC COAT OF GENERAL LEE! I mean it was a good sell. I think he got 14,000+ out of it, but that would go to an auction for so much more, but they did pressure the guy about all the auction fees, etc. etc. yet he would have gotten more if he sold that on his own.
It's an addicting show. I thought the aprasial(sp?) shows on the home improvment channels are more boring than interesting, but you guys should watch this show. I think you will like it.

This should be on TruTV or anything else really. History channel took a nosedive and the content completely sucks. It used to be all about Hitler and WW2, and Jesus. That was okay, at least it was mostly interesting some of the time. But now it's all crazy unrelated shows, like "Ice Road Truckers" and "Pawn Stars".
Bill Maher made fun of it on his show "Real Time with Bill Maher". Saying that the History channel is now the "Poor Life Choices" channel and he wouldn't be surprised if "Porn Shop Janitors" came next.
The shows.. while something I'm not that interested, are still decent. Though they don't belong on History. Eh, who cares..
Nah. This isn't some normal pawn shop and it intrest me that people brings in these type of stuff. It does have about a 40% to 50% when it comes to these things and no, HC didn't do a nosedive. They still show what they do best. Past, Present & Future content. There has only been one thing I didn't agree with and that was the Ice Truckers show. That should have been on TruTV. If you watch it, it is what it's about. Highlighting mainly old history and collectables, showing if they are real or fake and getting things inspected. It has some humor and other stuff, but you have to expect that.

I love Pawn Stars and have since the first week it was on.
It does fit in with the History Channel, because it's like watching "Antique Roadshow" but with a kick. lol
My FAVORITE part of the whole show was the episode with the ejector seat.
"So, if me and my buddies pulled that we would have shot through the roof?"
"At about 100 miles per hour..... maybe more"

I swear that guy must have been trying to get some drug money. He was just clueless.

Its an interesting show but if you watch it enough you see how they low ball people on prices.I know I know ,its the persons choice to sell knowing they wont give you what you want for it but if you really have something that is "that valuable" dont go to a pawn shop for money.I guess if someone is hard up for cash they will do what they gotta do but I have seen some people selling collectibles for a fraction of what they would get somewhere else if they just took the time.
You've obviously never tried to sell to a pawn shop IRL or even resell a game to a game store. Pawn Stars actually offer really good prices on things that deserve it. Probably because they have alot of unique items and the main guy once said that's why his shop is so popular. They more than likely attract more customers than most Pawn Shops and obviously were sort of a local legend (at least) before their show.... otherwise they wouldn't have a show.
I've only tried to pawn a couple things in my life and tried to sell a few games/CDs when I was a kid. I can still remember the crazy low prices they would offer. Something that could easily be resold for over a hundred, they would offer $10 for. I'm sure the guys on the show do that with things that aren't TV worthy, but the things that are TV Worthy are the oddball stuff that is rare and TV Worthy.
Another good episode though was the guy who had the pistol from the 1700s. They had it checked by a professional and it turned out to be a $50 forgery that the guy trying to sell it originally bought for like $800. I felt bad for him, but it was kinda funny. Could you imagine having something you treasured and hung as your centerpiece in a collection, that you paid alot of money for, just to find out it was a fake? lol

Your right I never have sold to a pawn store, and "God willing" never plan to, but obviously they(mean the guys on this show) dont offer fair prices .I have seen them offer many time as low as 1/5 th of what their appraiser told them right in front of the seller. As I stated before an Auction might be a better choice if you have something "REALLY" valuable,as it appears to me they make their excess profit by shitting people which I guess they have a right to do,people should just not sell.If you need quick cash you be surprised what you will take a loss on ,so stay out of debt.

Yeah, 1/5 is high compared to most pawn shops. You're looking at like 1/20th of the price. It's really insanely low.All those used games in Gamestop and such, the store bought them for like $2-$4 and they are selling them for $10-$30. Personally, for $2 I'd rather use it as a frisbee.
But on Pawn Stars, if the guy can move something quickly or it will look good in his shop. He sometimes only comes down a couple bucks from the original price that the appraiser told him.

Yeah he was cussin so much. I felt bad for him. He got burned. I thought the guy that made the glass sword was funny.
