Well i tested Alganon and did find it very generic, but breifly the reason Alganon will no doubt fail is Allods F2P which has more polish bells and whistles and not to mention one of the best Dev teams Russia has to offer, also 12 million invested helps.
I've heard about how simuilar Alganon is to WOW,can't comment my self as i'm of the WOW hateing variety Allods is also generic but adds much more to the mix than Alganon's Devs can only dream of so sets it's self apart as the best F2P ever imo and many ingame testers have said the same, infact like myself would pay for Allods no chance in hell i'd pay for Alganon as at this moment i'd still be a beta tester.
So Blizz beware as i can see many disgruntled Alganon folk hopping on to F2P bandwagon, which from what i have seen offers a very reasonable game shop as opposed to total F2P and pay nada, and as above many WOW players may do the same.I was looking forward to Alganon which is a shame as Icarus are paveing the way for indies, unlike Quest online.

Yea as far as the everyone is going to swap over to the f2p title thing with allods I doubt it. I heard the same thing with RoM "This game is just as WoW but free everyon who currently plays WoW is going to switch to this." Especially while the majority of the population was leveling and the cash shop was optional.
Allods may dominate the f2p market but I seriously doubt its going to have an impact on WoW or for that matter Alganon.
Besides that if the cash shop ain't generating enough revenue the devs will go broke so that means they have to put serious incentive to buy stuff which is the catch 22 of "FREE" games.
I don't know how many times I said that if WoW had an offline advancement system, I'd still be playing. Now here's Algaon, which is a bald-faced ripoff of WoW mechanics and graphics, and EVE's offline advancement system.
I paid $20 for the game and 30 days of play because even if Alganon eventually fails, I believe in showing up to support ideas in the MMOG industry I want to see flourish. I'm getting my $20 worth in the meantime, and my #10 a month for however long it lasts.
If someone comes out with a true sandbox offline progression fantasy game with AION quality graphics, I'll gladly lend my financial support. This is the direction I want to see developed more in MMOGs.

You do realize that Alganon's Offline progress is meaningless correct? Even if you manage to get to 4 points in 2 or 3 skills, if you never bother logging in, it doesn't help. The system is meant to go hand in hand with leveling.
Don't get me wrong, I am glad you enjoy the idea of advancing offline, but it seems to me that the system is broken from the start in that, they best study skills need to be purchased in game with gold, that you have to farm for. Thus defeating the idea of offline advancement.

As I said, when someone comes out with a true offline advancement, character-development sandbox game, I'm there. There's much that can be improved, but at least Alganon is a step in the right direction, and it does get a lot of things right. For example, I can raise many character traits via offline advancement, and that helps out no matter what level you are. Playing the game also gives me a better understanding of the opportunities and strategies that can be exploited by future offline-advancement developers.

No you are right WOW with it's playerbase will prob not make a dent but Allods will entice people away from WOW,but Alganon will feel it hard, have u tried Allods if not then do so like compareing a mini to a porsche,Allods no lag, superb translation,Stunning graphics
seemingly rock soild server framework, new innovative ideas can u fly a ship in Alganon err no,Gpotato are a reputable company in the MO market.Oh and Astrum Nival are one of the top software companies in Russia google Nival and see what quality we are talking about.
Now to Alganon complete disdain from WOW fanbois for seemingly ripping off their mish mash of every other MO before their blessed WOW,bugs galore not even addressed 3 days before their aborted 1st launch,Server that went tits up when it felt like it,not the best graphics ever i think you will agree, subcribription based meaning they will have to pull off a bloody miracle to even keep the early adopters, and to cap it tried log for one last hurrah guess what the bloody client would not work.
I would love to see Alganon beat the odds but i and many others deserted that sinking ship,if it makes it great but i won't bet my house anytime soon

Darzin, its not worth it m8, give it a rest I think that we've already said more than enough
My brain has 2 sides;Left and right. My left side has nothing right and my right side has nothing left...
So as you can see, Ive been on MMMorpg.com for awhile now,
I started with UO, then DAOC, etc.... I for one am having a good time with ALganon, bugs aside. I see the potential I also like the community.
So I guess I'll ride this one as far as it goes,
