Out fairness it is Bioware Austin (with many ex-SOE employees) that is making TOR and not the Bioware Canada (forget which city) group that has made all of the other good games. I'm sure you knew this and I'm only pointing it out for others that don't. This is one of the reasons why I stopped giving that particular benefit of doubt to the project and cemented it firmly in the we'll see what they do box. My completely truthful feeling on the game is it will be no better than AoC or WAR with respect to the "gameplay and mechanics gamers expect in an MMO" parts with a heck of a set of 8 read along Dragon Age-esque stories. Whether that is fun or good/bad is up to the individual.
I'm cool with that.
While I'd obviously prefer that every shortcoming in the genre be solved immediately (if not sooner), I'll setting for one at a time. Putting the RP back into the MMORPG is a nice start.
Playing: EVE, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2, Need for Speed: Shift
The main thing that matters to me is depth of the game. I want to know how far I can advance my character after reaching max level. Then it's how far I can go as far as PVP is concerned.
Well for me it's quite simple and is really a large list of variables that makes me attracted to a game.
First off, the screenshots have to show me that they have a unique artstyle and have to have graphics that are decent or in a style that allows them to look the way they do. Next up for me is how the controls are. If the controls are whacky or weird, i won't be playing it. After i find out that they either allow rebinding of keys/have something that's remotely familiar. I check on the actual game content. This is because i dont' want to dissapoint myself by saying "oh cool this game looks like it'll be pretty nice" to only find out that it's an entirely PnC game(case and point Rappelz). They HAVE TO HAVE a decent set of classes. This means they have to have some class that lets me be away from the fight. I've never really been a fan of fighting in close quarters. Also they need to have some class that's magical in essence. As my gf always wants to play a magic caster. And we always play together so it's almost a requirement. If they dont' have a magic caster IE it's nto a fantasy game then there has to be something similar. After that's completed, i look at gameplay videos. I want to see the animations looking natural. Not very clunky and poorly put together.(aion got to this point before i decided to not play) And then we come to the way that the game's put togehter, is it a full force grind or is it a variety based game with lots of content also are the classes balanced. if there's no class balance then i won't be playing a game that features PvP. (the worst game for this was Flyff 2 uber classes 2 ok, and the rest were weak as hell) Also something else that turns me off of games which is an instant bye bye to the game is bs rootkits such as GameGuard, Xtrap and their fellow programs.
Right now i'm still looking for that "decent" mmo. One that'll keep my attention for 1 year or more. WoW was the closest it seemed. I was liking the PvP but then the "gear grind" made me say no way.

What attracts me the most is other people.
The more I plan mmos the more i am interested int he various tools that developers can provide for us players to interact with one another.
My sig is just as logical as your posts are
What attracts me is Gameplay like the Sandbox of the PreCU of SWG.

Fun. But also how realistic the world feels, cardboard figure npcs and dead wilderness turns me off.
