Thinking of resubbing....but,

stringboistringboi Member UncommonPosts: 394

I always stopped playing within a month or so because of the lack of help from an active LS to really show me what the games about.  I've played a character over the span of a few years to only level 50 or so....and because of the time span, I never really grasped what I was doing or did much out of the normal "find a party and grind there for a while till you level"

I really like the game but never clicked with a group of people (because of the lack of LS activity) to really show me what its all about.  I'd really like to resub but before I do, I'd like to know if anyone can suggest a server to restart on with a helpful community, and does anyone have or know of a friendly, active LS I could be a part of?

Thanks in advance for any / all suggestions!!

Just give it a bit of time, theres a couple avid posters of the FFXI Section her on MMORPG.com and im sure the will not fail in aswering your questions.  I too have played the game over a span of two years and have two 75s. The whole reason i got where i was because of my supportive and helpful l/s. Keep searching and you will find.  I played through the multiple story lines and quests and let me tell you, thats where the beauty in ffxi is. Your simply not going to find such a great mmo anywhere. I never understood what held me to that game for so long ,and always made me come back. Id have say that the community was one of the games strong points, as well as there was always so much to do. Crafting/missions/pankitron/skill ups/leveling subs and mains/farming/merit parties/endgame activities.

I personally stayed away from endgame because i wanted to avoid the drama and the "im forced to go as <insert class here> because my l/s needs me to" crap. Over time ffxi has become more player friendly and doing some endgame events gets you some nice rewards, but to get there its all about the ppl you play with and the ppl you meet. Having a RL friend playing the game is a very nice thing to keep you going, for instance If not for my GF joining I would of only been a level 50thf that had no idea how much this game had to offer.

Sadly i made the mistake of buying gill to level a craft because i was desperate for money and was briefly banned. Ive been a disgruntled mmo gamer ever since. Going from mmo launch to mmo lauch, i havent found one game that even comes close to the greatness of this game. I too am considering to resub, after convincing my new manager to play the game again. We talked for hours about the countless adventures and the experiences we hade with the game and so i have me, my friend and his brother as well as my gf resubbing. Id say thats plenty incentive to start over.

Meeting ppl isnt as hard as you may think, when your partying with someone and you enjoy thier company keep in contact. Thats how i met my l/s. I was partying with the l/s leader when he was on the endless "level all his jobs to 75" campaign. Been in there ever since. Shout in aht urghan/jeuno and keep looking until you find your fit. Also, posting something here gives you a limited amount of ppl that will view it. If you want to get some answers try killingifrit.com or ffxiah.com and post on thier forums. Tell them what kind of l/s your looking for and what kind of person you are and your interstests. Oh and most importantly, ventrilo/voice chatting is one of my very recommended things to look for when finding a l/s. While ffxi was on of the very few mmos there it was fun to communcate through typing, you get the real feel of ones personality from said words rather than typed. This creates a more aestheticly(think i spelled it right) pleasing enviroment. If you like this suggestion, please place in your preferences that you like a "active vent" so there is always somone to chat with between parties and times where you feel bored.
