I'm current stuck working all day so the only time I have to play games is at night. Usually 10 PM - 6 AM PST...problem is, many games out there seem to be fairly dead about this time, There are some late night guilds, and I don't mind doing those depending on the game, but I don't like being restricted to just certain groups. Are there any games out there that have decent population at all times? Doesn't have to be great but enough that group PVP and PVE can happen if I randomly wanted to do it if I looked for a little bit.
Mostly looking for a game with both PVE and PVP aspects, but if a game is centered around one or the other it doesn't bother me. Crafting/some type of non-combat aspect would be ideal but that is rare nowadays..
Games I've tried:
WAR, currently playing, pop at night makes RVR boring.
EVE, I've tried the trial many times, could never get into it, but from what I've heard pop is usually good.
WoW, Played till BC, thought about going back many times but I got bored of it and it was usually dead back then.
Lotro, Didn't like the PVP and was slow often.
EQ2, never got into it, played till level 20 and then got distracted by other games no idea about pop now.
If anyone has any suggestions, doesn't matter what type of game it is or if its one that I have played and things have changed, I would appreciate it,

It sounds like you need a game that has one server (Eve) or combines multiple locations (FFXI) into their servers.
Most have a lower population at those hours, regardless of the game. Even WoW, it was nearly impossible to find any grouping to be done when I played those hours (though a friend swears by his server and it's late night population). You'll more or less be playing a lot with the EU crowd during those times, it'd be best to find a game with servers as I mentioned.
If you've already ruled out Eve, I didn't see FFXI on your list. It has an afterthought pvp system that is terrible, but it's a pure group based pve style game at heart anyway. It fits in well with what I mentioned as all players are combined into the same servers (NA, EU, and Japan). It may or may not be your type a game, just throwing out the option.
Edit: I forgot to comment on crafting. Every loot drop in FFXI has a purpose, often related to crafting. While crafting skills typically take a large money investment to raise, as far as I know you can raise the skill from level one provided you have the money. You can raise every craft to a maximum of 60, and one of those of your choosing can go all the way cap (100). Fishing is excluded and can be raised to cap regardless. I personally don't do the crafting as it takes a lot of money, but with the right amount of investment it can be very benefitial/lucrative.
If your in USA try playing on games with ocenaic servers basically 12 hours difference between Australia/Oceanic and USA. If they dont support oceanic servers do a google search as oceanic players usually get together and vote on a server they all want to play on. You will be able to find grps on these servers during your off times.
